I like Voltaic - it feels like the most "classic" of the ages in the game. I also love the scenery, the orange and brown of the rocks with the deep blue of the water - so pretty.
"Voltaic" is an interesting name, chronologically. Atrus presumably wrote the Voltaic age at some point in the late 1780s or early 1790s. Alessandro Volta, eponym of the volt, experimented on electricity in the 1790s and published his invention of the voltaic pile in 1800, several years *after* this age was written. At least the name's consistent with the appearance of the unit volt in the original Myst :)
The use of volts as a unit in Myst is harder to explain, since that unit wasn’t named until 1861. At least Atrus might have heard about Volta’s work, even if it wasn’t formally published until a few years later.
I think the "intended" solution for the waterwheel involved another red wheel atop the ladder. There's a hole there that's roughly the size of the wheel that opens the gate, so it's not too unreasonable to assume that there could have been a wheel there that started the waterwheel.
I love your walkthroughs. I just needed a tiny hint at what I've been missing and you give a great presentation without giving the answer away. I've walked pasted that damn, broken porthole 50 times and never noticed I could zoom in. Thank you!
Somehow I believe convincing Saavedro that Atrus was not responsible for what happened to Saavedro's age. Not so much because Saavedro can't be reasoned with due to his long imprisonment, it's more because the Stranger is a silent protagonist.
I know! That's what I thought! If I had played the game today when I know considerably more about computer electronics I probably would've realized there is nothing wrong with my mouse and it's just the game.
I'll be testdriveing this game soon should be interesting to say the least it's on it's way to me by mail should get it today so I'll let you know how it goes🤔

Damn, I remember getting this game back in 2001 and being absolutely blown away by the visuals.
"A gear...connected to a ring with 5-dots around it...and a UFO...or maybe an old-hat...a shield...and a slinky. I'm sure i got all that right." HA!!

Its really funny how little I remember of this game.
When standing on the rotating platform for the first time one could potentially think that something went wrong with the mouse.
I wonder why there is blood next to the tunnel of the water wheel. Perhaps someone tried to punch the window open with his bare fist.
I know! That's what I thought!

Yaaaaaaay! Slinky!
Voltaic definitely reminds me of the American South-West.
Can an eyeless painting stare at you though?
Those dreaded words "...in the next video" :)

Couldn't he just make an educated guess as to what his girlfriend looked like. Would solve alot of problems 🤷♀️
