🎵Just discovered your wonderful channel Kate! Brought a tear to my eye to read that your Dad was Chas Hodges! Love these tunes Kate, just wondered if you would consider doing a tutorial or two on how you play your Dads tunes? Also loved seeing you playing along with Dave on another video, just so heartwarming! Wonderful Kate, I have liked and subscribed! 👏👏👏👏🎵
You've done a lovely job on this, best cover on RUclips.... then I read up your "connection" and, of course it's the best. I'm just about to learn this song for a bass cover I'm going to do, I've loved it ever since I was a nipper. Take care and keep making wonderful music, new subscriber here.
Oh no! That's another completely different Kate Garner! This Kate Garner is the daughter of the legendary pianist Chas Hodges, who, after a career as a session musician playing with big American rock and roll acts got together with Dave Peacock and.....not only formed musical duo Chas 'n' Dave who had several British chart hits in the 80s, but actually invented a new genre of music, ROCKNEY, fusing rootsy American music and boogie woogie piano with traditional Cockney (working class pre-gentrification East End of London) culture and music hall hits that would have been popular in pre TV (and radio) days and the relics of which can still be seen around the East End to this day such as the Hackney Empire. On this video Kate, whose biggest influence is her father, sings and plays one of Chas 'n' Dave's biggest hits!
Of all the 80s pop stars I like Kate's reinvention the most. Promoting her roots. Keeping old London alive.
Sublime tune! 👌
A chip of the ole block ❤
Wonderful tribute to Chas. I was listening to him telling how he came to write it in an interview he did in Spain.
Wherever your dad is right now, I'm sure he's smiling down on ya. I bet he'd be so proud.
What a lovely thing to say, appreciate it.
@@Quintemental You're welcome, sweet. Interesting fact: my family lived just round the corner from your dad, at one time.
Such a fine tribute to the late musical genius and virtuoso Chas Hodges. Bless you Kate! ❤❤❤❤😢

That wonderful song could have been written at any time over the last 100 years and it would have been a huge hit.
