I had the Honor of seeing Static X live when Wayne Static was still alive. It was bar far one of the greatest concerts I have even been to. It was a small venue and felt so personal. I would give anything to see him one more time

hearing that its edsel ruins it for me. despite how much i loved static X. i knew a guy that tried out for Dope. eh. i see the same thing here. i get its a tribute. but its like learning how a magic trick is done...then seeing it later. i wish i never learned music production. thats all ill say.

I agree, I was about to say something similar. I like some some of their songs, not a fan though, but I have a lot of respect for them and how they handled the loss and the respect they had for their fans and finding a worthy replacement for this extraordinary vocalist.

@@evildiscoplacebo I doubt he’s faking it, Edsel can play all rock instruments and he also sings, write, mix and produces. He can do it all.
@@evildiscoplacebo I didn't realize every Static-X creation was wholly made up of everything Wayne did solo, from production to performance (including playing every single instrument) These guys have every right to continue touring and making themselves some dolla-dolla and making sure the fans of the band can still experience them live.

I'm 34, been going to shows since I was 15. The amount of energy that has disappeared at shows over the years thanks to social media, i.e. having to record the whole thing on your phone is staggering. Even when I saw Amon Amarth recently, it was only a small fraction of the crowd being active. Everyone else has their phones up. It's weak AF.
This is the new age of crowds sadly not like they were back in 1999 when Wisconsin death trip came out when they played live everyone was moshing ;) that was my back in the day ;) now its just cell phones and mot enjoying the experience with eyes only sadly
Plus im going to the vip static x march 7th the van buren rise of the machine tour i went to the 2019 first round debut of wayne statics memorial tribute then the following year in 2020 got canceled and delayed to now so i had to wait another 2 more years for this second chance so some cities are rough with crowds later down the tour the crowds will get wilder depending on the city and phoenix the van buren is definitely popping with the crowd with crowd surfers to and moshing so it all depends on the city
To be fair though, the Dope show was quite truncated, and with low energy- it was ok at best- but Static X WAS FANTASTIC. Hopefully Dope fans can get a true “ full show” when the lead singer isn’t pulling “ double duty”. All that being said, good for him for doing so!
edsel doing great wish best for them and staticx fans they got last run this band deserve im a fan of few bands and for example type o negative died with their lead vocalist but for metalhead 90s and early 20s is a golden era of pure masters of their craft i only wish to be once at some of this bands concert but i was too young back in the day so i didnt had a chance.. but im happy for others

Maryland Heights resident here. Live about 3 miles from Riverport. When they came last with Zombie. They stole the show along with Mudvayne. By far the two best acts.
Really love how Edsel is taking a backseat and making it all about Wayne and the music!!! I recently read in an interview that he said he has no interest whatsoever in being the front man for Static-X, it’s all about Wayne, keep it about Wayne!!! Mad respect Edsel!!! I never got to see Static-X when Wayne was still alive, hope I get to see them now!!! RIP Wayne!!! 💯🤘

All things considered this new direction is a good reimagining of Evil Disco... I think it honors Wayne's memory... But it will be interesting to see if this project lasts a number of years and if 'Wayne Undead' will eventually move further away from the direct impersonation he did when he first joined... I see they've given him some space to kinda create his own gimmick in the live show already

It's a cool look, but I think there's too much going on and it's affecting the music. Guitar was banging the rail on the platform. Riff mistakes he wouldn't usually make. Half of Structural Defect had his clothing draped over the strings between his picking hand and the strings, so everything he played would've been muffled. I'd tone it back a tad, but it's still an awesome show.
Agreed, at one point near the end he was literally strumming the coat.

It's static-X because Wayne's image was iconic and he transcends death now because that's literally his iconic image present. This all just makes him even more legendary.
