- In this video we will be trying Filipino street food in the Philippines. We are back in Manila and are excited to head to the Salcedo weekend market in Makati city. Limiting ourselves to $10 which is 500 peso to get as much Pinoy street food as possible. There was a lot of other cuisines at this market as well, but we really wanted to focus on delicious Filipino street food. Join us on this epic Filipino street food tour!

Hello Chase and Shelbs! I had fun watching your adventures in the Philippines! I would suggest December or January you come back to explore more. Come these months June till October is rainy season. We in fact have a typhoon now as I write this. December and January are what we call our cool months that usually lasts till February. We usually get 25 degrees Celsius here. Not too hot and just right. Philippines has the longest and merriest Christmas. Some places here have Christmas decors already. Come December there are many things to see in Manila alone. The atmosphere is very festive. In January, we have series of festivals like Sinulog Festival in Cebu. I recommend you join the fun and street parties. I hope you take my suggestions. See you guys soon!

I like bibingka with salted egg yolk rather than white makes special taste...wow delicious 😋😋and with any BBQ or betamax pour it directly it's okey it will spill ...ilocos empanada have spicy vinegar sauce Pour it also to enjoy more...oh we miss you see you again here in 🇵🇭
I think it’s an acquired taste. Maybe we would like it eventually :) we missed the vinegar.. silly us!
You should eat the empanada with spicy vinegar. The empanada skin is made from rice flour.

Eating separately your halo-halo or in this case your dulce de leche will only be leaving you a glass full of milk and crushed ice. That's why you're supposed to mix it first to get the balanced amount of flavor.
Not necessarily because we will have some of the milk and ice separately, like a little in each bite if that makes sense, if there is some ice leftover that’s fine because that isn’t the best part lol! 😊

Ilocos empanada is made with a rice dough and inside is a garlicky sausage (Ilocos longganisa), egg and traditionally grated papaya as the vegetable component, sometimes mung bean sprouts. You're supposed to eat it with vinegar and banana catsup.
Bibingka is like a pancake with a taste of coconut milk then added salted egg. I miss that desert.
The Ilocos empabada is made bland because you supposed to dipped or pour a spicy vinegar wirhit. But glad to you did a street food again before you leave, sad to know that you are living Philippines and hope you bring all the good memories with you, thank and we are grateful to you for exploring and showcasing the wonderful different and beautiful areas of my country to the world. Gday Shelb and Chase! Loved your vlogs. I can’t wait to see you guys visit Tagaytay Taal Volcano South of Manila. Just 2 hrs drive from Manila. And try some Beef Bulalo ( beef and Cabbage white stew) and Buko ( Coconut Pie) and Bibingka! go to Balay Dako the view of the Volcano from inside the restaurant is so spectacular. hi guys , Masskara Festival is the best thing to experience in the Phils. Book a flight and hotel this Oct .22-23 . Electric Masskara on Oct. 22 and the Masskara Grand Parade on Oct 23 ,experienced the Mardi Gras Festival in the Phils. It was a must-experience when in the Phils.

You need to mix it up the halo halo. Its literaly translate to (mix-mix). If you dont mix it well before eating, you eat it the wrong way.
We are aware that it means mix mix! Many Filipinos have told us they like it separately so we tried it and really enjoyed it. You don’t have to eat it mixed. No wrong way to eat ;)
8:25 the disadvantage of eating it unmixed is as you go at the bottom of the glass the stuff becomes stale since you have already eaten almost all of the ingredients that should be giving taste to the entire mixture.

Bibingka is traditionally serve during the Christmas season and it's supposed to be eaten with coconut shredded meat and partnered with chocolate de baterol ,
I think it would be better with coconut and no egg hehe! But the flavour was delicious!!

Ilocos empanada is a mixture of longganisa (meat & fat), egg and vegetables wrapped in special empanada wrapper and taste really bland if you eat it without the vinegar sauce. The flavor of the vinegar makes the full unique taste of the Ilocos Empanada. Next time you come back to the Philippines have a bite of those puto bumbong with grated coconut, margarine and sugar on top.

Tip: Most of Ph street foods, the dry ones atleast has one common factor. Their eaten soaked in spicy (onion+chili+corn pepper+sugar) vinegar.

Just find the hidden gem. There are so many of them in there. Travel to each region and you will find food you never had. But have a courage to try. Coz some don't look appetizing, but it will shock you how good it is.

Ilocos empanada - you are supposed to dip it with iloco vinegar which has a wine type flavor and it brings out the tastes.The meat inside is ilocos longanisa and the shredded thing is not potato but unriped papaya.

The bibingka and puto bunbong can also be good pair with coffee or hot chocolate for breakfast. It tastes even better in early mornings, freshly made...we buy those after simbang Gabi(it's a mass celebrated 9 mornings before Christmas day), they have stalls of those close to churches

Bibingka is a traditional dessert food from the Philippines, Yes it's like a pancake but they add salty egg, cheese, sugar,butter and coconut meat on it. Most served during the holidays.
