I miss Professor Layton so much. I've played all the games for the first time last year and I'm still struggling to find another game/franchise that I can feel as truly invested to as I felt with it. Baby professor Layton fan here who joined because of ace attorney and TikTok videos and I wanna ask the fandom some questions 1st question: is miracle mask a good place to start for a beginner because I dived straight into that game 2nd question: do you always use up your hint coins on a 60 or 30 picrat puzzles I gotta know if I'm the only one or not qvq 3rds question: which Layton game would you recommend playing? Hello hello, fellow ace attorney > layton pipeliner here I would recommend starting with spectre's call/last spectre for timeline reasons, but miracle mask is fine. All you'd really need from sc is some context, especially in regards to who descole is, and iirc they were more of a background character in mm (still a major character, of course, but not there in the spotlight like they were in sc or eternal diva). Knowing who they are makes azran legacy just that much better too I too find myself struggling on 30 picarats for whatever reason. They are often either deceptively simple or something i would never have guessed in a million years 😅 In terms of main series, i would recommend unwound future/lost future, but I would also recommend playing curious village and diabolical box/pandora's box beforehand. I also really like Layton Brothers: Mystery Room and (you've probably already played this but it's my personal favourite) PLvsPW:AA I'm glad to hear you're enjoying your time in the fandom here. This game series is incredibly nostalgic to me as I started collecting them back in 2012 and I never managed to get my hands on the final two of my collection until this year (2022)🥲. So it’s been a decade of collecting and honestly it’s so worth it. These games are my childhood and I can’t even count how many times I’ve replayed them lol. Which one is your favourite?

I must say i do prefer the 2D art style from the first four main games as opposed to the 3D style they changed it to for miracle mask and Arzan legacy. I kinda wish they kept the original.

The 2D art style is just so much more simple and nostalgic. It really gives off 'mystery" and "laytonesque" ahah

Even playing them AFTER the 3D ones, they have more of an "original" feeling to them. Simpler and more candid than the over-the-top scenarios of MM and AL
