Alabama owned the 80's and were named Artist of the decade. That just being one of many awards the group has gotten during their career.

The drummer brought a rock beat to the band and that's what made it connect with people. Decades later, they tried to say that the drummer was never part of the band and was just a hired musician, even though he was in every band photo, accepted awards with the rest of the band, and was listed in credits as part of the band. They were trying to cut him out of money from a greatest hits album, and he sued them and won.

The drummer, Mark Herndon, was the only member of Alabama who wasn't related; Randy Owen (vocals, rhythm guitar), Teddy Gentry (bass, backup vocals), and Jeff Cook (lead guitar, fiddle, backup vocals) were all cousins.

REST IN PEACE JEFF COOK ❤🙏🌹💔😭 I'm from Detroit and been a fan since the late 70's, early 80's. When I was in high school.

The drum solo was created just to give Jeff Cook time to switch from guitar to fiddle. Jeff just passed away a few days ago.

Alabama started in 1969 but had their biggest success in the 1980s, where the band had over 27 number one hits, seven multi-platinum albums & received numerous awards. The band blends traditional country music & Southern rock combined with elements of bluegrass, folk, gospel & pop music. Some of their most famous songs are "Tennessee River", "Love In The First Degree", "Dixieland Delight" "If You're Gonna Play in Texas (You Gotta Have A Fiddle In The Band)", "Song Of The South" etc.

I'm not much of a country fan, but I loved Alabama. They have a lot of great songs

Hello. I have been an Alabama fan my whole life - Alabama has a style that allows them to be "Liked" by any one - just not " Country " fans.

I am most definitely a metalhead, but, like T, I grew up on country music, and Alabama is in my regular rotation almost every day. I absolutely love this band. They had more than 40 #1 hits. My favorites are Tennessee River and My Home’s in Alabama but they have an almost unlimited amount of hits to react to. Glad you guys got on the Bama train.

I watch this channel, mainly, to enjoy the chemistry between the 3 of you, but I love that you young guys are introducing me to so much new music that I would not typically access on my own. Country music is not something that I was raised on and, therefore, doesn't really speak to me, but I LOVE hearing it every once in a while. I find it charming, fun, happy and sexy. I really enjoyed this song and, of course, your funny comments. YEEHA!!!

I'd totally agree... if you're from the South you know an "Alabama song" And growing up when out celebrating you'd hear a lot of their songs being played by bands at local clubs and bars also...fun to dance too.

Love love love this group and this song!!! "Love in the First Degree" is also great! Their music is so pure, especially their harmonies and so catchy! 'Blues Grassy' 😄 My grandparents had a farm near Paducah and we were down there 2 - 3 times a year. That is what i think of (our family all together w/my aunts, uncles, and cousins). Us city folk from Chicago loved to get away to the South. They were country but they played this on main stream radio. 80's and early 90's country is great!!! Thanks for reacting to this! ❤

I grew up an hour and a half north of the Mason Dixon line, but stil saw Alabama in concert (at the fair) a few times before I was 13 years old( mom was a huge country fan, we saw Eddie Rabbit, Mickey Gilley, Johnny Lee, Loretta Lynn, Waylon Jennings, and Willie Nelson)

Always remember my more country class mates at the high school dances doing a country swing at a dead run around the gym during the fast part at the end.

I'm pretty sure that the sound you heard was a tambourine. Growing up in Virginia, Alabama was a mainstay in the 80s at literally Grandma's house. Memories of VA ham, potatoes and green beans with fat back. I however was a metal fan, but still maintains a happy memory.

This song loses crucial authenticity points by using "grandma and grandpa" instead of "mammaw and pappaw" in the chorus. #606

The song is awesome… the review of it… not so much. “Just because we’re country, make no mistake about it, we can play”… as opposed to what ?… of course they can play.. they have over 40 #1’s…ps. A chert rock.. is flint. Arrowheads. .. if ur gonna review a song, at least pretend to give it a chance..(it was obvious one of you didn’t like it from the get go) .

As opposed to many, many country songs that have boring instrumentation. Give it a chance? Two of us said it's going on our playlists. Not sure what you're complaining about.
