- Greetings cards, primroses : watercolour tutorial
Wendy paints the wild very pale primroses and demonstrates how to apply experimental wet into wet backgrounds. She shows the best way to use masking fluid, talks about colour mixing and how she tackles the problem of painting shadows on very pale yellow petals.

😊 you never disappoint me. Never boring. Thanks for sharing 😊wim
Fabulous Wendy. I love your florals cards - lovely to do if you don’t want to do a “serious” landscape! Your shadows are perfect; I really struggle with daffodils and the shadows, so this is a really good colour mix solution. Thank you so much 🙏😁
My favourite flower
Thanks very much Wendy. Very helpful tutorial.
Thank you 😀👍
Thank you very much, Wendy - a real taste of Spring!
Yes it is here…we are having some lovely days….may be too nice to be indoors😀
Liked and subscribed 😊
love your art!
Thank you…it’s nice to have feedback😀👍
Какие чудесные примулы!!!И та,и другая работы великолепны,но мне больше по вкусу в тёплых оттенках!Спасибо за урок!!
Beautifully delicate, love primroses we have some in our garden along with Spanish Squill, narcissi and other spring plants. My favourite time of the year!
This demonstration is perfect for cards and I often reduce the size to maybe one flower and paint gift tags. I did this for the Christmas just gone with a selection of Christmas trees and different decorations.
Love your lessons, Wendy, so easy to follow and to listen to 🤗 Easter greetings from sunny Kent!
Thank you…and interesting ideas 💕
Beautiful
Thank you 😀
Soft and lovely. I’ll try this.
Hope you enjoy 😀👍
Very sweet and delicate, indeed! Love it! ❤
Thank you 😀
Thank you very much. I will try this one today I am wondering though I didn’t think you could rub out pencil once it was painted over? Thanks Clare
Hi….glad you liked the video. Yes you can as long as you didn’t press hard without the pencil and it was soft….a 2B is the best I think .
Hello Wendy! I have used diluted violet, since it's the complementary color, for shadows on yellow flowers before and the result was not nice. It created a brownish shade. I am excited to try out with davy's gray since I have a tube of it that I have almost never used. Thank you!
Hi…..yes I got that brown also. I shall also do some more work with the Davies gray…..be aware that colours can vary with different brands. Mine was Windsor and Newton. 😃👍
@@WendyPowellJones Will keep that in mind. Mine is Holbein but looks very similar in shade to yours. Thank you for replying!
Hi Wendy. I love your little videos as they are so inspirational. I'm having a go at some Easter cards and whilst the painting isn't a problem, I'm having difficulty with the trifold aperture cards. I've tried using the double sided tape method as shown on the Stitchtastic website but they do seem to spring open even when the tape is used all round. I wonder if you'd be kind enough to tell me what method you use to keep your paintings secured. In the past I've tried PVA glue but this seems to buckle the card. Thanks for your lovely videos. x
Hi….thank you. I have been using Beacon 3-in -1 advanced craft glue. It works very well , on Amazon . It may be a bit pricey but lasts. I cut off the plastic tip so the glue comes out a bit more easily 😄👍
@@WendyPowellJones Thanks Wendy. It's very kind of you to reply so quickly. I'll give that a try. x
Hi Wendy. Just to let you know that I took your advice about the Beacon 3 in 1 glue and it worked really well. Thank you so much for your advice. With regard to the shadow colour, I've used sap green with a touch of Payne's grey and found that to work really well. You do need a very weak watery mix though and have a tissue to hand to take of excess straight away. 🌻
That is good to hear….glad it worked for you and thanks for the info 💕
I have never had luck getting rid of Pencil lines after watercoloring over it.. any suggestions? Lovely floral.
The best thing is to use a soft pencil like a 2B. Use a very light touch when you are drawing and you need a good rubber like a putty rubber. Hope that helps 👍
Beautiful. Have you tried purple for shadow?
Thank you…..yes and I was not keen but maybe not found the right one 😀
