    Michael, great videos. I am starting this journey and your honest, no nonsense, non hyped up videos are the best I have found. You deserve a lot more subs.

    100% correct of your assessment of the iRacing business model. I have a sub with iRacing and use LFM. With AC in LFM, I'd recommend anyone starts there if they don't have bottomless wallets - there's going to be a lot fun in 2024 with AC on LFM. The rookies in iRacing seem more rookie than those on LFM but I can't comment about the more advanced drivers in iRacing. I don't see the race frequency on LFM as a problem - I spend a fair amount of time practicing before a race so I don't become a liability in the ranked races. The iRacing UI is not great at all but a lot of the users appear to have Stockholm Syndrome and are happy to ignore that (and the crazy tyre model when a lock up sends you to narnia).

      @test868 "so I don't become a liability in the ranked races" I can relate to this! I'm mainly in it for the fun, I dont care too much about taking it too seriously so a little bit of everything works for me!

    Great video. Good to point out that the initial entry price is only part of the deal in a product like iracing. I come from an age where having to buy in-game assets or some sort of advantage would make people boil over, but that's all history now. A lot has changed since games like WoW, GTA Online, Fortnite, etc... and I don't won't to be too pessimistic but given their success, I think it'll only get worse.

      @bartlx its a difficult one because I think paying for the online makes sense as its lots of ongoing server costs etc, and paying for them to release new high quality cars and tracks also makes sense if they are putting lots of effort into them, but having both seems hard for me to swallow... but as you say I think thats the way it is now if you want quality you have to pay for it, and keep on paying for it! Thanks for the comment!

    @5:31 Make sure you always report that shit... iRacing takes 'being a dick' seriously sometimes and gives out free holidays to guys like this. Good to see new iRacers, hope to see you out there on track soon. Wait till you get to F4 and then you'll get some great content 🤣

    Yeah, people are talking so much sh!t about iRacing. "It's a rip off", "there are better sims out there", "don't buy into it", "you have to buy cars and tracks" yada yada yada. The truth is, there is nothing else like it out there. You can literally have a race every 30 min with a full grid of people with similar skill levels, 24 hours a day with just the content that is provided. The focus of iRacing is on competitive online racing against real drivers, and not on driving another car on another track every other race. It's an online racing service. Yes, it costs money but it's constantly maintained and overseen to avoid intentional wrecking and misbehavior, and to ensure that everybody has the best possible experience. You can chose a two year career path, buy new cars and tracks as you progress and it will cost you, if you buy smart and take advantage of the discounts, $25 a month. But you don't have to do that! Again, you can have a lot of fun with the content that is provided. I gladly pay $25 a month for something that I enjoy so much. Other people pay for World of Warcraft, Netflix and buy the newest Xboy game every other month. How is this different? We just have different priorities. I understand that not everybody can afford it, but it's not any companies fault that someone doesn't have the money for a product or a service. It's a personal problem. People who are hating on iRacing are just to ignorant to see the benefits, don't want to invest the time to get good or got permanently banned, because they can't behave on track,...and if you just don't like the idea to pay for a service, then simply don't do it and move on.

      @mementomori4972 yeah for sure the best racing, and I think the best driving feel (personal preference perhaps?) I've not played much recently but I decided that when I start up again I'm just going to stick to MX5's for the forseeable and not worry about the licence classes.

    You still enjoying the sim mate?

    • @MichaelSmithRaces
      @MichaelSmithRaces  7 месяцев назад +1

      @steam-SMOKEY honestly this is a funny comment timing as I've been thinking about it. I have had limited time recently so I have done less iRacing and doing a bit more ACC due to an ongoing season im competing in. I did play rallycross last week for the shifter review and it was SO MUCH FUN. I feel guilty for not playing iRacing because of the subscription nature of it, I feel like its ticking away. But the limited iRacing I have done I more than ever understand about how the braking is just so much better, as I miss it when I play anything else!
      So I think my conclusions stand: Love the driving, hate that its £££. If I was not doing the local league with my friends I think I would just only do iRacing at this point.
      Did that answer your question :) Do you use iRacing?

    What’s your frame rate with the 7900xt and triple monitors

    • @MichaelSmithRaces
      @MichaelSmithRaces  8 месяцев назад +1

      @jbauman152 I will do a follow up video with specifics but I cap it to 120fps at the moment with a few settings turned down it never drops below that. I prioritised staying at 120 because i notice if it drops below. Thats on triple 1440p.

    • @Django45
      @Django45 8 месяцев назад

      @@MichaelSmithRacesI feel the GR 86 is much easier to drive than the Mazda, you can turn it almost as much as you like almost always but it is treacherous when you go way over the limit, because the TC kills all power to wheels when you need it the most for balance and exit and it just throws you into a spin because you give the fronts way more grip while turning and you can't react I. Time or do anything to save it because no power to shift weight to the rear

      Thanks @Johnator45! Not sure if I'm going to be able to get on this weekend now, might be the Cadillac CTS-VR or Kia next week instead! Its nice to drive these different cars that I would never have thought of!
