- FIRST DRIVE: The Silverado EV is Chevrolet's first official full size electric truck. This will compete directly with the Ford Lightning, Ram 1500 REV and Rivian. On the outside you will notice 18in wheels, LED lighting and a shape reminiscent of the Avalanche. On the inside there is an 11.3in infotainment system, digital gauge cluster and plenty of passenger space. Powering the WT are (2) electric motors producing 510HP. Is the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV WT a new truck WORTH the PRICE?

Man they really upper up the headroom and leg room at the back of the Silverado! It's really impressive, if they're gonna make their Silverados look like this in the next several generations when it comes to EV or gas. It would make every truckers money worth it!

I don’t believe you ever mentioned the price unless I missed it. But it’s ridiculous that they estimated the starting price for the work truck would be $40k and this comes in at almost double that. $77k I believe I heard.

That's the top trim WT4. The others will be cheaper. That isn't to say they'll get down to 40, no way that's happening lol. Be lucky to get down to 50k
Just be thankful you aren't looking at Canadian prices.

For a work truck, having the matt black finish around the wheel wells is better for durability. The reasoning behind the main light controls to be on the screen I'd like to know. It's a head scratcher. When it comes to towing and it automatically reduces the range. As you drive that range could change based on the weight of towing item and of course driving habits. In the end you just plug back in and charge back up. And not have to think about how much the price of gas will be for what you used.
Great truck Joe! Thank you for bringing it even in the pouring rain man. But I still think the most badass electric truck is the GMC Hummer. Is there another video of a different coming up too cause the last time you posted the review I believe it was a black one?

What up Joe? The body style of this Silverado EV reminds me a little bit of the Chevrolet Avalanche.
Those black rims are beautiful also what's interesting about the Silverado EV is that it has 8 lugs as well as the mid gate just like it was in the Avalanche

Now my dream EV truck I have to work with.
It’s about 78k for a WT. No thanks. For this price point it should have the 13.4 inch infotainment screen, the 12 inch gauge cluster, electric seats, heated and ventilation seats, heated steering wheel, and super cruise. Great review as always.
He didn’t say the price but $78,000 is crazy for the work truck! Only people that are going to drive these expensive electric vehicles it’s not middle-class people they’re going to be upper class and the wealthy! Not many middle-class people are going to buy a work truck for $78,000! Well the government is weeding out the middle class so you’re only gonna have Rich and Poor so I guess it’s all OK…lol
Yes but I watched another youtube video that just reviewed the exact same truck and they gave the price. The RST is going to be about $100,000 which is insane. To me electric vehicles are not worth it. The average person doesn’t even make $78,000 a year. I hope the Manufacturers realize that and change what they’re doing.

I think calling it a work truck is misleading. Work truck usually have customizable rear where they have storage bins or other optional work related tasks. Chevy, Ford, etc are going to have to crest a cab/frame where they are customizable work trucks.

I love how it looks compared to the RST version! Hopefully they come up with a Colorado EV version or hybrid. That I'd definitely buy!

@Brian_Eugene_Lee definitely shouldn't have but I can also see how they're probably trying to keep costs down by offering one single body and one single engine with different outputs of said engine. Still sucks though
@godofdun no doubt! Even just a hybrid would be great. I believe the old duramax version gave out like 30mpgs on the high way, couldn't imagine the range on a hybrid

Excited for this. Great for DIY people like me AND in Texas, this will get me to the SA, Houston or Dallas without recharging. I could care less about engine noises as my BMWs will fill that void.
Just curious if you plan on towing or hauling regularly?
@@302Mustang13 hauling lumber and building materials short distances. Trips to other cities would be purely leisure
@@interpol512 I haul building materials occasionally as well but don't have a truck. I can rent one for hardly anything and drive a more efficient vehicle that way. Can't afford a guzzler and an EV truck is even more expensive. I laugh at truck status symbols.

Awesome truck! The W/T looks better than the RST. Hopefully is affordable. Chevy should make a the next gas Silverado with that front end.

So, did anyone mention the Warranty? For the life of the battery? 100K? that's about 4-5 years, then time to change it out for an additional 25K? What's the real deal? Seeing how, I reserved the 39,999 version 1 1/2 years ago just to find out that that was a pipe dream.

PRICE? Some here think the man said $77K for this; another thought we'd be lucky to see it for $50K. Good golly Miss Molly, Tesla's Cybertruck is starting at $40 to $45K and that doesn't LOOK like any other pick-up. Some find it appalling, others love its weird style. To each their own.

With the EV you cannot go on THROTTLE that means controlling the flow of fuel to the ENGINE. Start saying going on POWER!🤠

So Chevy puts the fold down bulkhead in the RST version to allow more bed length for say, a sheet of 4X8 plywood, but in the “ Work Truck” version they don’t give you that option, are the GM bean counters that stupid?

That work truck has more features than a High Country silverado. GM didn't cut corners with this work truck like I thought they would. They are really impressing me with their EV's.
They definitely cut corners on those terrible looking screens. Huge ugly bezels for no reason.

I'm not a big fan of headlight designer the date light. Phenomenal lock all of the design and the truck is very good except that headlight
I like the simplicity and true base features; would rather put money towards the battery which seems to be the philosophy here. With that said, the interior design feels aesthetically pretty awkward to me; it doesn’t at all reflect the aerodynamics of the exterior.

because the batteries on this weigh well over a thousand pounds. In order to save space it's totally possible they integrated these into various compartments in the vehicle too.

Chevy says the Silverado EV will have a maximum range of around 400 miles per charge, which should help with the towing since electric trucks tend to lose about half their range when pulling a heavy load.

The 450 mile range is a selling point and surprises me, but I'll still see what the Tesla cybertruck has to offer soon

The exterior is absolutely perfect and the best on all E-Trucks.
The interior is plastic fantastic and cheap looking, booring and poorely made overall.
The price is out af space and mind - for what they ask such a crazy sum of money.
So my verdict is: do not experiment and get money to the bank of Toyota - buy 4Runner and drive till you die in it.
