To quickly explain when Pierce found time to have sex with the new Spanish teacher; the walkout situation to save Annie from Chang delayed the final by a day, he simply did it in the interim.
LOL, just you wait. This episode is setting up so many things down the line. This show has a surprising amount of continuity and it comes from the oddest places.

At first it was annoying, but now I find it fascinating how long it takes Aaron to understand the simplest of jokes. He looks so perplexed 90% of the time so I hope it continues.
I do CGI, just as a hobby, but I understand both the tools and the underlying coding of those tools, and what the technical limitations are. I literally read white papers on CGI algorithms for fun sometimes. There has been incredible advances in just the last few years. The hardware isn't getting that much better, mostly it's just becoming more parallelized, but newer algorithms are also becoming more and more multithreaded to take advantage of it. Still, there's a ton of research being done with light and materials to improve how real things look. Fluid simulations are getting better and better, and the tools for modeling and simulating things have advanced dramatically. How much of this is noticeable to audiences? Hard to say. I notice some stuff but I'm not a typical audience member. One big difference now is in lighting, particularly when there are many sources of light in a scene. This has a subtle effect in many cases, but when trying to match natural lights to composite in effects and CGI objects/characters, it makes a big difference to realism. There's been some great work with subsurface scattering, too, which has a big effect on things like realistic flesh. Mostly though, I would say the technological advances have just added up to letting artists work quicker. They can iterate on their work faster, make more artistic decisions in the course of a project, and produce better product as a result. CGI has been "realistic enough" for a while now, at least in simple lighting environments, but beyond that point there is still room to make things more visually interesting. So much more detail can be added. As harder things have gotten easier, scene complexity can also increase dramatically. Shots that would have been infeasible before, either for time or budget, are simply possible now, even trivial. Creatives are not as limited, which at the end of the day means they can tell stories visually that before could never have been told visually before.
I think they are arguing about two different things. Aaron's point seem to be about the visual advancement specifically and when you reach photorealistic cgi you can't go further than that, visually. Which is correct. But Eric is also correct in that the technology behind the scenes are advancing faster than ever, making it easier and cheaper to make things photorealistic.
I disagree. If it takes an expert to notice the difference then the upgrade isn't that big of a deal. Technology should really be defined by how much it improves your life. Going from a telephone to a smart phone is a huge deal because of all the extra things it now enables you to do. Going from a Galaxy S21 to a Galaxy S22 isn't anywhere near the same leap. You can essentially do the same thing.
