Last year I went fishing on the north shore a few times, and all I could seem to catch were the tiny blue fish/snappers. Maybe it was the location/ time of year, but I'm hoping to get out there soon and catch Monsters like you do.

It’s a good year so far, I see it continuing! Especially with all the new tricks we’re learning.
i wish i was old enough to go out and surf fish more. my grandpa who surf fished the north shore and a bit of the south shore for most of his life has bad knees now and cant go out on the rocks at moriches or shinnecock anymore, and parking permits are ridiculous all around long island. i cant wait until im old enough to drive and get on some striped bass or bluefish
this is the time to learn as much as you can! Use this time wisely! By the time you get out on your own, you’ll already have so much knowledge to apply, and that’s when you get experience points 🤙🏼🤙🏼

@2:45...just curious why you would fish the down-current side of structure. If fish are holding in structure, they’re faced up-current waiting for the prey to swim by. Wouldn’t that mean you best bet is to throw up-current from the structure?
All the bait would be following that rip around the structure, so I’m casting “up current” in the rip and bringing it down into the eddy/pool and rip where the fish are sitting, yes, waiting for the bait to come around. So yeah, you’re right 🤙🏼🤙🏼

what size rod an whats brand name of fishing rod ,an whats a good reel without breaking bank ?
This is a Lamiglas Insane surf 10ft. I’d put on a penn slammer 4 5500 it’s a little pricey. But should last a long time and has great components that are easy to fix or replace 🤙🏼
you should practice better release, tossing the fish in causes contusion to the fish and decreasing the fish survival.
Question: Why don't you use steel leaders when catching bluefish?
Best way of finding is if you could share your spots….
