In this clip, NLE Choppa opened up to Vlad about growing up in East Memphis and feeling like the city is full of hatred, but also a lot of potential. NLE Choppa then revealed that he has chosen to still live in the city, and he also detailed all of the things he's doing to make a positive impact on the community. As far as Memphis goes, all that talk about changing the city is BS. Memphis will never EVER change. True Memphians know that. Best bet is to stay out the way and get out as soon as a better opportunity presents itself.
He has come a long way. You can see he is growing mentally as he ages. I saw him perform in miami when he was like 15 or 16, glad to see he's on a good path.
No matter the energy in his city, this man energy is enough to keep him relevant for the next decade or two. Seem like an authentic individual
He’s not lying about the dark energy and it being filled with hatred. I used to go to Memphis for open mic comedy and every person I spoke to asked me “have you been robbed yet?” Now these were white people so I thought there was some racist undertone but then I spoke with the black people and they asked me the same thing. Turns out it’s kind of a right of passage sorta thing, like it just happens. Almost like you can’t say you’ve truly experienced Memphis if you haven’t been robbed in Memphis. I saw so much crazy shit there and I only spent 2-3 hours there at a time when I went.
Never heard his music. But I really enjoy hearing what he's been having to say this entire interview. Sky's the limit for this dude, for real.
