@@novellprice132 It's simple. When my father's family - the entire large traditional Polish-Jewish family - was exterminated (some buried alive), our American castle living Ruth was educating herself - nothing Jewish, of course. With all the choices available to her and right after the Holocaust.
When my relatives in Israel are in existential threat and lost many people they knew, our McMansion Ruth is "happy." Yes, the perfect time for happiness and public celebration of it.
      When there is no conscience....

    • @anna-tn8mg
      @anna-tn8mg 6 месяцев назад

@@novellprice132 I don't know if you are Jewish or not. Yeshiva University has a double structure - some Jewish departments - college, Rabbinical school, Jewish history (I presume), etc. and professional schools which at this moment probably have more non-Jewish students than Jews (if at all there are Jews there). Jewish community is small, and badly needs financial support for physical and spiritual survival. In addition, there is a significant percentage of refugees who can't afford tuition but are eager to educate themselves Jewishly. Qatar and Iran won't support Jewish education and survival. It is logical to expect that those "Jews" who have billions contribute to the needs of community.
Instead, they finance everything what gives them visibility (and more billions) even if this "everything" is antisemitic.

@@Reach_O_Grab It’s simple. She declared that she was “happy” just weeks after October 7th.
After the horror that terrified decent people everywhere. But not her. Among victims were babies, children. “So what” asked our pediatrician. “They are just Jews.”
The survivors of horror were homeless, displaced, under constant attack. And in the US, blatant antisemitism has been everywhere - in schools, in the media, in the street. “So what?” asked our “Jewish” psychologist.
Don’t you think that helping them would be nice? Instead…
Now, some other facts. Yeshiva U. meant to be a place where Jews could get their solid education, primarily in Jewish subjects, including religion. Many Jews chose careers that they knew wouldn’t bring them wealth nor fame, but would allow them to be true to themselves and serve their tragic and vulnerable group. This people deserve to be supported. Instead…
The university has evolved and added professional schools accepting people who have no connection to Judaism, Jews, and no interest in anything Jewish and possibly some antisemites.
Guess whom our Lady (deliberately non-Jewishly educated - after the Holocaust!) chose to finance (through her entire life). No, Jews need not apply.
Yes, having a debt is not a good thing, but just yesterday I read that average salary for medical specialists is above half a million. Further, not all students have debts. But most certainly all victims of horror are victims of horror. Again, having a debt is not a good thing. Being murdered is much worse. I know that, partly because my father lost his entire family. Our Mount Holyoke Lady (uh, oh) doesn’t. She just want to be happy.

As a former European student from the states do your research and homework before applying abroad.
Not all colleges offer free education in Europe, especially as a non-native European.
Mostly depends on what you define as “free,” the languages you speak, your qualifications, what you’re studying, and your nationality. One may still be responsible for fees and other university costs even if your tuition is totally covered, 😮 I found that out. Although, there’s incredible benefits dining on campus and getting medical treatment. (-:

Currently there are 740 students enrolled, meaning the 1 billion dollars will be exhausted in 5.8 years with that enrollment and no reduction in tuition price. They'll need to keep their endowment growing very quickly to sustain it at that price. Would be nice to see!

Why not share in another’s happiness and one day, during the worst of a medical crises, a graduate from this esteemed university will save your life, a friend or someone in your immediate family. Unfortunately, so many people don’t understand the difference one doctor or nurse can make in this world. Having real billionaires saving lives and not false corrupt fake billionaires who have no sense of a conscience, a moral compass and are completely immune to the human condition. Yet, ethically, so many indifferent people still think false and fake conspiracy liars are something special above others with absolutely no accountability or respect for an open minded discussion.

Demonstration : Tuition & Fees 1st year $69,673 2nd year $70,353 3rd year $70,353 4th year $70,053 = Total 280'000 $ . They have 1000 students. So this means 1'000'000'000 / 280'000 / 1000 = 3.5 times , so 3.5 x 4 = 14 years....considering 0% interests on remaining capital

The money is not going to sit in a checking account. It will be set up as an endowment which means it will be invested and enough will be withdrawn each year to cover current year tuition. The goal is to have the money generate enough income to cover expenses. This school is not tuition driven, they make most of their money from from the NIH for medical research. Hope that helps.

All of the most exclusive and expensive boarding schools in the UK started precisely as charitable schools in medieval times.

I am not sure if this is a good way to give money. The last group of professionals that needs free tuition is doctors. I haven't seen a poor doctor yet. Plus, most medical students come from middle and higher social economic classes.
Majority of doctors in this country will not see you if you do not have insurance. Try to get a blood test or an imaging study without insurance. It will cost you hundreds and even thousands.
When I walked downtown Baltimore, Dc, Phila, LA, San Francisco etc.. I see so many homeless people. Perhaps the money is better spent on those who are most in need. We have a crisis of homelessness and drug addiction in this country for many years. But, these people do not have a voice in the society. Therefore, giving them money does not bring you fame and notoriety. For many philanthropists, giving money is a popularity contest, with exception of a few such as Bill Gates, Warren Buffet etc..
    This is just my thought🙏🙏🙏

There's a gift horse that needs looking into. Seriously. People with that kind of moolah don't "give" anything away, ever. Not ever. They're most certainly not "giving", they're buying - the only question is who and what that is..
