Those mountains are just massive!! Beautiful scenery and wildlife. Loved all the waterfalls. You didn’t hear banjos playing at that sketchy campground, did you? I looked up that poutine gravy. It’s $13.00 a can!! Great video again!!

Yes driving through there makes you feel very very small. It’s just beauty looming over you the whole time. As for the poutine…, it was good but seems to me it was just a thin brown gravy. Very tasty but not really a special flavor.

Great trip. Your old scout drives about like my Old land rover, but the old trucks are lots of fun. I agree and miss some of the simple freedoms we took for granted living in Alaska. The headlight problem isn't surprising for an Alaskan, we drive all summer in daylight. You are correct. With the hubs unlocked and the Transfer case in 2-wheel drive, the front drivetrain doesn't turn, The static leak in the front differential isn't a big deal. And I might add If it stops leaking. it's empty. :-)

If there ain’t oil under it, there ain’t oil in it! As I used to say about my MG. 😂👍 Oddly I think what I miss the most is the struggle. Life in the lower 48 is just a little too ….. scripted.

Awesome video I was smiling the whole time. I actually live near Jasper (Hinton Alberta) and yes way to many rules and regulations in the parks but outside of that you can random camp all over.
I love how you are running that little 4 cylinder. Curious what it gets for mpg towing.
There are some big long hills in the mountains plus you are at elevation so that doesn’t help with the power.
I have a 3.3 Cummins turbo diesel for my Scout and it’s got a 4 speed with 4:27 gears.
I was concerned about driving long distances in the Scout and how comfortable/loud it’d be but I guess that’s why stereo’s were invented lol

She just chugged along. I’ve 4:27 gears also and an overdrive on the Dana 18 T-case. It’s a good balance if I don’t go with much bigger tires. I tried 31s recently but it was just too much so I backed off to 29s again. I can cruise all day with the camper between 60-65 if the hills aren’t too long. Some of the mts there in Alberta were a bit much but that’s why there’s a passing lane. I was still faster than some of those big motorhomes. 😂. With the single barrel carb I averaged about 16.5-17.5 mpg on the trip. (About 7 kpl). I “upgraded” to a two barrel when I got to VA. Was having serious carb issues by then. Works great but I’m running both barrels open practically all the time so mpg had dropped to about 14. Some upgrades are not improvements.

I always get the biscuits too at Mickey D's and you described why I like Alaska perfectly.
Thanks for the great video and editing work like your sense of humor too.
    Godspeed.

Thanks man. I’m certainly not a professional but I do try to put together the best video I can with what I got. Thanks for watching.

I've thoroughly enjoyed watching your progress and this one just has spectacular scenery! I hope to one day make it out west. You should have tried out the Skywalk! 🐓

Thank you very much. It’s been a blast sharing the trip. Not chicken…. It was more that Nugget was having a hard time climbing up he hill. 😂😂 sure … that’s the ticket. It’s my story and I’m sticking to it. 🎶🎵

Brings back memories when we were there several years ago. As the wife an I were watching she stated that we need to go back again. My daughter and son in-law had the alternator go out on their Mitsubishi Delica 4x4 in Canmore. So we spent several hours laying on the ground in Canmore under the vehicle before we decided to drive to Calgary where a shop rebuilt it while we waited.

Lucky you found a place. I tell you that occasionally we’d be driving through some remote and incredibly beautiful place and all I could think about was the sound of the motor and what would happen if it quit. 😬

You know I had to buy 3 of those on the trip. I kept driving away and leaving them. In the end I gave up and just used a rock that I still have. 😂
