Serena is that person that acts like a good girl just to make excuses about the shit she puts everyone through and says she doesn't like drama but always ends up causing it.
Serena is the perfect example of nice ≠ to being a good person. The only thing that she had over Blair when it came to being likable was status and she was approachable. Serena made herself approachable, she didn’t instantly point out your flaws. HOWEVER, that doesn’t mean she won’t sleep with your bf. That doesn’t mean she won’t take your spot as queen bee, that doesn’t mean she won’t be insensitive. She just said what you wanted to hear and THAT’S why people on the show loved her. Doesn’t matter if it’s true or not, doesn’t matter if you know who S actually is, she charmed you. BUT she’s still a nightmare regardless.

I literally can’t tolerate this character anymore.
That was the worst storyline, Rufus treated her and Eric like his own children, he supported her decision to not go to Brown but as soon as her dad appeared she tried to alienate him from her mom so that her parents could be together.
I don't know how Rufus was able to not only speak to her again but tell his own daughter to stay away from town so she wouldn't hurt Serena anymore
Ha Rufus literally supported her through deferring college and helped her with her mom at huge consequence to him. One episode before she fucks him over she's acting like he's her dad now.

Omg do you guys not get why this happened…? It was the writers doing damage control to make it make more sense why Serena will forgive Dan for being Gossip Girl so easily in season 6.
They did this whole episode to make Serena realize she likes the spotlight to a certain extent and understood the power of being GG.

I also really hate Serena!!! She’s spoiled and truly doesn’t take any real responsibility for her actions. She acts like a changed person, but she has multiple love interest each season and makes horrible decisions based on her relationships . Serena also takes away Blair’s spotlight on multiple occasions. Blair may also be privlaged and spoiled, but she actually works for her goals . Serena has things easily handed to her. I actually rooted for juliet to take down Serena. Some of things juliet did was messed up, but Serena definitely needed to get knocked down a couple pegs.
I absolutely hate her hypocrisy. In season five in regards to Lola. She kept whining that gossip girl ruined her life and that she wanted someone else to be 'it girl' so she just decided to make Lola it girl (even though she didn't want anything to do with that) by pulling that embarrassing stunt. THEN when Lola started getting the spotlight she decided that she didn't like not being 'it girl' after all and SABOTAGED HER CAREER just to get the spotlight back. Then when Lola tried to prove she was gossip girl and ACCIDENTALLY released the Chuck info Serena had the nerve to preach about how she had no right to do something like that. -_-

- Generally discards Nate who has been nothing but nice to her

- cheats on people many times
- Everything was handed to her yet she never worked for it
- She modelled for Eleanor to spite Blair
- She got Blair out of her dream of going to Yale
- She sabotaged Rufus and Lily’s relationship
Need I go on. Point is she does all of this, yet never receives a consequence. She can stamp all over people, she can do whatever yet never receives any comeuppance like Dan. Everyone else is blamed for her shortcomings!
She got a free pass just because she was saying “I’m trying to change”....

The only time I truly liked Blair is when she was with Dan because he brought out the better sides of her personality, which made her a more three-dimensional and interesting character. Just like Dan became a slightly better character with Blair than he ever was with Serena and Georgina and Vanessa. It's not without reason I'm team Dair all the way.
Most of the time, though, they're not that much better than Serena, in my opinion. The only difference is that most of time they are delightfully bad, making it hard for me to hate Blair, Dan and Chuck in every single episode. Serena, on the other hand, becomes so painfully bad and immature that I ended up wanting her dead.
Frankly, the only Gossip Girl-character I never hated was Monkey.

whenever I talk to someone about Gossip Girl, they always say Serena is their favorite character.... sorry, why ? I hate how her whole "story" is that she's a girl trying to grow from her past bad decisions yet it seems she became worst & worst over time. I tried SO hard to like Serena throughout the first few seasons, but her sleeping with Dan while he was dating Blair, proceeding to act like it was no big deal AND playing the victim was the absolute last straw for me.
Can we also talk about her hair though like it’s so weird the hairdresser mistreated Blake lively especially with the one with the straight hair and one weird ass braid that’s just there

In like the first season Serena was my favorite and I hated Blair but after that season 1 I disliked Serena I think if she would’ve just owned up to her issues and tried to actually change she would be a good character.
This was my exact experience too! I agree, I think she totally regressed and ended up repeating the same mistakes over and over again, especially in the last season.

Blake Lively is very sweet and that's why everyone loved Serena at first. The writers made a mistake by making this character so flat when she had a huge potential to be more satisfied and interesting. There was absolutely NO personal development from Serena throughout the show and that's a shame.

I prefer book-Serena. It's clear she has depth and brains, but she's discouraged from developing them because people prefer her to be a pretty, blank canvas on which they can project their fantasies or anxieties. Series-Serena seems like she wouldn't have much to develop, even if she had healthier people around her.

Season 1 Serena had a lot going for her unfortunately bad writing ruined her and killed any personality she has. By season 3, she's honestly the most empty character of them all. It's pretty sad. If done well her being so lost, not knowing who she is and what she wants could have been a VERY compelling storyline. They could have done so much with her. What a waste. #JusticeforSerena

Great Video! Serena seemed to be written as a walking plot device or pretty wallpaper depending on the episode. The writers' made her into someone who is dating/friends with x character of the week and throughout the story events happen around her, not because of actions she initiated. For example Serena happens to be working in PR for a film guest star Tyra Banks is in.etc. Its a sad waste of the character and talent of Blake Lively

Do you not realize that the character of Serena suffers from character assassination?
When you watch the series, you can see Serena has a steady story arc from seasons 1-3 and actually had character development.
However, in late season 4 and especially season 5 the writers shifted the focus of the series to revolve around a lot of Blair and Chuck. This caused the writers to make every other character become absolutely horrible to make the two worse characters seem better.
In seasons 5 and 6, the writers barely gave Serena a decent storyline. They just didn’t do her justice in the end. They stopped her character progression and regressed her back to her former self before season 1.
I mean, she wasn't an angel in S1-3 either.

Obviously, blair is the better character with more development, but she’s her own enemy when it comes to getting the things she want. The reason Serena “glides through life” is because she treats other with decency (at least in the first few seasons) and is a charming person.
