Carrie was awful. She made Charlotte feel guilty for not giving her money, invited Big to Aiden house, left Charlotte at the opera etc... Always trying to change Big ughhhhh
You forgot when she pitched the fake book idea to Big's first wife so she can find out why they divorced. Bat shit crazy.
hahaha yes i forgot!
Little Cathy and her magic cigarettes 😂
The “ditching Miranda for veal” scene is even worse when you realize that they both have cell phones. I just watched it.
Carrie is sooooo self centred a person , she never thought about anyone else .but herself . The biggest example is How can Natasha hate me ?
Ikr?? That infuriated me. Like, b**** stop stalking the poor woman just because your ego is hurt!
@@RosieSquall And Nina Katz. Carrie was upset the woman made a face at her. Of course, she did! Nina was Adian's girlfriend right after Carrie. Of course, Nina would have a crappy opinion of Carrie. But Carrie whined... I would have gotten together with Natasha really let it go. Ha ha
I know she is a fictional character but anyone who would think that needs a dose of reality and some self awareness.
Or that she guilted her friend into giving her engagement ring because she didn't have money for a down payment.
Fully agree! Poor Natasha :(
The worst thing anout Carrie is she thinks she is some deep intellectual rather than completely vapid.
She is an intellectual. I remember in one episode she wrote if Snow White wasn't kissed by the Prince, will she sleep in the glass coffin forever or wake up, spit out the poisonous apple and get a job? Real life is messy and complicated, all these characters have flaws, and no one is an all bad villain, it's not a fairytale show.
As a gay man I find it unsurprising her character is written and so ardently defended by gay men. She's as entitled, selfish and spoiled as a big part of the gay community. And yes she is the worst, she may look fabulous but that doesn't take away from her character being terribly frivolous and generally an awful role model.
This
Agreed- it and it always bothered me how much they trashed straight men and made them look like chumps. Additionally, the idealization of wealth especially Mr. Big was nauseating. He really didn't have to do much just be filthy rich to be idolized and adored.
lol if you take a close look at many man in the gay community you will find they share the same selfishness, sense of entitlement and toxicity as Carrie.
she doesn't look fabulous imo.
Fuck role models. We want complex characters with flaws not boring beauty pageant queens.
can we also mention that in the first movie she disregards Big's feelings for how large and extravagant she has made the wedding when originally it was going to be a low-key trip to the courthouse with a few close friends? Also, this isn't Big's first marriage, so he wants to tone it down and make the occasion more about them as people instead of a big circus where he feels scrutinized and it seems too much. He got cold feet because the big wedding drew attention to them as a couple as well as his status and past marriages and he felt judged for that. He wanted Carrie to reassure him it was about their relationship, but Carrie made it about the dress, the 200 guests, and the wedding in the library where all the best love stories were kept. It became superficially extravagant. And she has the gall to believe that Big has commitment issues, and that's why he wasn't at the altar? he wanted to take things slow, make sure he's making good decisions, and that big wedding scared him. The fact that Carrie cared more about what the wedding would look like rather than what it meant for them both scared Big. Then she makes a scene in the street, thoroughly embarrassing herself and I just pitied the man.
I had such secondhand embarrassment watching her make a scene in the street OMG 😳
Honestly, he was pretty weak, himself.
I think Carrie understood the maturity of their initial engagement. It went downhill when she showed the skirt suit to Charlotte and Anthony.
The point of all the conflict was so the movie could have a plot lol but they could’ve had a happy in between. Look at what Miranda and Steve had. Nice garden wedding and restaurant venue. Carrie & Big could have went to some fancy Carrie approved manhattan rooftop bar, decked out with the NY skyline w/ some flowers but still classy and mature for Big.
Yeah...the $40,000 was just shoes...that’s not counting the thousands and thousands in clothes. Not to mention all the eating out at all those posh restaurants. I guess reality isn’t as pretty so they take liberties with A LOT. She is an awful person. Thanks for saying this. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I wrote a paper back in college on sex in the city. The biggest issue I've had with that show is how it glamorized the wealthy and excessive lifestyle. The show sent a message that if you don't have millions of dollars and designer clothes your a worthless person. An example I can give is when Miranda started dating Steve and when she told the other girls Charlotte said "this man is working class"
Well, yes, but New York is a very classist city. The characters aren't mean to perfect; that would be incredibly boring to watch.
Yeah but a character doing something on screen doesn't mean it's an endorsement. They almost always showed that Carrie was blowing all her money, had no safety net or savings. They were also critical of how superficial or status conscious Charlotte could be.
The thing that annoys me most about the character of Carrie is that I don't get why Miranda or Samantha would want to be friends with her.
This sounds dumb but I do not think any of them would be friends in real life.
Thank you! Carrie was the absolute worst.
Yep carrie is awful person she's so selfish and entitled like the time she apologized to natasha for sleeping with her husband not out of guilt but because she couldn't handle the bad karma she was receiving but I did love seeing natasha put her in her place
Joni Mitchell once said that what passes for female camaraderie is really female conspiracy. I will always appreciate SATC, Carrie should be looked at, as a cautionary tale: DO NOT BEHAVE LIKE THIS!! You are effing brilliant in observations and expressions. Thank you.
I was so shocked and angry 🤣 when Carrie got angry at Charlotte for not at least offering her 10,000 dollars. They should do an episode on just like that where she gives Charlotte her money back. XDD
You'd hope that she gave the money back ages ago considering that she married a multi millionnaire
“Carrie did not come with a receipt” lMaOoOoO
I know it's quite randomly asking but does anybody know a good site to watch newly released tv shows online?
@Austin Fox I dunno lately I've been using flixportal. you can find it through google =) -hayes
@Hayes Harlan thanks, I went there and it seems to work :) Appreciate it !!
@Austin Fox No problem =)
Your point of view is so on point
This should have more views.
Honestly, if Aidan didn’t trust her, he shouldn’t have gotten back with her, you shouldn’t be with a person just to punish them, just move on….
I love this video so much, thank you.
thank you so much! glad you liked it
To be fair, she had a meeting with her editor which is why she sent Aiden. But yes, she is selfish & she CONSTANTLY lies to her friends.
Not $10,000 from Charlotte. It was at least $30,000. 10k would have been bad enough but 30k is just 😳
Oh, correct, Kate. On every point. Carrie must have been dropped on her head, or have undiagnosed serious psychological problems. She's such a selfish character and It's shocking to me that all her friends haven't bailed on her yet or at least told her to shut up and grow up. She's so dramatic in her relationships, that they border on Glenn Close's fatal attraction vibe. I'm shocked no one arrested her yet.
The story is written mainly from her perspective, she has even the narrator’s role, and no one is the villain in her own story. So that’s the funny and brilliant part, we, as viewers, can see the mess, the flaws and how awful she can be but Carrie is not even able to see it, she ended up thinking it’s not her fault or somehow she is the victim. ALWAYS. In fact she is the only character who doesn’t really change at the end. All the others changed their perspectives or goals because the experiences they had, Carrie got exactly what she wanted from the beginning, which you might think “oh, that’s good”, but the tricky part is to think how Carrie has ended there.
It’s a really well written character to be honest.
I don't like SJP
Neither do I. I find her overrated. Carrie was supposed to be this flawed, but charming character. I didn't find her charming, I found her obnoxious and she had an annoying propensity for making very bad and painfully obvious bad puns, which is just irritating.
What does SJP have to do with her character?
You forgot the designer handbags and clothes . She may not have as many as shoes but she doesn’t shop at TARGET .
You have a lovely voice :) really enjoyed this video so I've just subscribed
I’d think it was more a comedy of errors. Usually a protagonist is more interesting in a series than an all fully good character. Samantha was actually the best friend despite her busy “dating” life with the best lines!
Yes carries life was a fucking fairy tale and I use to love but lately I been realizing how bad of a friend she truly is.
You are adorable and very right! I love SATC but I've always wondered if anyone else saw what an asshole Carrie was!!🤣
is Carrie anybody's fave though?
Bang on!!! Oohh how I hate Carry..she is so self-consumed all the time, obsessed with herself.. Her problems, her life, her column.. I wonder if you are the producer of the show and you enjoy the liberty to play an author-back role, why would one still opt to play a dumb woman..
3:52 The correct amount of sex is obv whatever Carrie is having, duh
You should do a a ranking of "your fave sucks"
great video but GOD PLEASE NO MORE MUSIC
That rent price is amazing wish it was real.
I have never understood why people like her, she is so, so toxic. I feel her character gaslight everyone during all the Aidan situation. She was terrible.
i disagree
i love this video but pls cut down on the bg music its abit distracting
Please do a Christina Yang sucks.. everyone praises her as a feminist icon yet all I see her as is a self absorbed annoying character. Also everyone just ignores how for a woman that doesn't want kids she fails to communicate this to TWO DIFFERENT partners and gets pregnant twice (even though she is a medical professional 🙈)
I found it silly that a doctor not only a doctor but and extremely smart surgerion was not on birth control like strong birth control. I get they wanted a social message story but it made her seem farther dumb.
To be honest, they all have there selfish parts in the series, even Samantha
Well yeah that’s human nobody is perfect but Carrie was the absolute worst of the worst out of all of them.
@@KagomeYasha023 Well thats my opinion, How Sam treated Miranda and Charlotte when it came to kids i didn’t like at all
Weren’t the friends metaphors for the brain, heart and libido? So the self, the writer, has these metaphors at her beck and call.
It’s funny how i noticed like in a second when i started watching the show that Carrie sucks. I was allways watching just because of the 3 other. Carrie was allways just so whiny on my eyes, she has interesting plot lines (loved the datind the politic for example) but she is allways just annoying to me.
You are so right ▶️
I don't like Miranda either, personally. But I did feel bad for her whenever Carrie acted like an asshole towards her.
Miranda has problems with an expression of her feelings, isn't used to letting people inside her heart, is distant from her family because her relationship with mother isn't the best, is a workaholic to provide for her son and in general because it's the only way to make money. BUT she understands those problems and wishes and tries to deal with them. She feels sorrow then her mother dies and appreciates even fights in the past, she regrets losing moments of her son's childhood and learns how to accept help from her close friends. Miranda is definitely flawed. But could never catch up with Carrie in terms of stupidity and problem denying.
You forgot that she cheats so I’m big as well and then in the revival she says that he was a big mistake. Wow what a terrible human being. I am so glad that I don’t know this woman in real life because I absolutely hate her. She’s absolutely horrendous and horrible big was amazing to her
But think about it, Carrie can’t pick Miranda up off the floor, i know i cant lol
Don't worry Carrie isn't my fave. Samanta forever over here.
To be a blogger , vlogger or columnist one has to be somewhat self centered and just enough of a narcissist to believe that people want or need to hear their opinion or commentary.
very well said :)
Yeah so it wasn’t $10k… it was $40k… the down payment was $40k… which Charlotte pretty much gives her in the end via the ginormous Tiffany’s diamond Char received from Trey whom she had just split from and was still dealing with a fresh separation and disappointment from lots of fertility hormone treatments.. to my recollection.. Carrie offered ZERO support to Charlotte during that time.. listen the first round with Aidan was totally on Carrie but Aidan..very much like Big.. SUCKED.. with you on that 100000000%
You are not being totally honest.
Eg.. She did not invite Big.. He called her all upset about his own relationship
She was sympathy triped into big coming in
If she didn't invite him to Aidan's cabin, then how did he end up there? 🤔
I didn't like any of the ladies, tbh, but yeah, Carrie was awful. It's a good thing I can still watch a show and like a show and dislike the main characters.
Carrie would not nearly have been as interesting as she was as a character if she had been 'perfect'.
Lol I didn't find her interesting
Yeah, Carrie is awful but somehow I still root for her the same way I rooted for Tony, the murderous, misogynistic, self centered mob boss in the Sopranos. She’s an antihero.
yup
Carrie was the most real example of female friendship.women make mistakes in friendships.and yes a lot more often then men.ask your female friends..
