Old Servers trick to keeping cool on a hot shift. Throw an ice cube down the back of your shirt (make sure it's tucked in). It's a shock to the system, but it will help keep you regulated. Take care of yourself, heat stroke is no small thing. Lovely work. Well done! I am So looking forward to CoSy. - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown
I remember that heat wave! I spent a lot of it lying on the tile floor and putting ice cubes in the cat's water dish :/ Also, the hamburger than hotdog explanation was a moment of communication genius! Now I won't forget that :)
lovely video, the addition of the historical context was great! I'm prepping to make a banyan of my own, it's really fun to see all the different ones floating around the interwebs!
So lovely! I don’t think I’ll have time to make one before Cosy, but I’m going to keep this video in mind for another time, because this does seem like a very wearable garment (and I am very much in need of a new bathrobe...) The historical context is, of course, also much appreciated.
This video could not have come at a more perfect time! I’m about to finish up a banyan and couldn’t figure out how I wanted to finish the bottom hem. This was so helpful!
Awesome! Thank you for all the details. I want to make something like this as a house coat... but haven't gotten around to it yet. And I love the music you put in. Hall of the mountain king is always a win😊
I have a banyan I need to make. I have everything for it, but haven't quite decided how I want the back, gathered, yoked or with Watteau pleats. Thank you for this. Best of luck in the heat!

Absolute warrior getting fully dressed and filming a video during the heat wave. Good lord.

Me who just watched our flag means death
Thank you! I love looking at banyans, especially ones with flamboyant prints and will definetly make one at some point!
the prints can be pretty fun! good luck when you make one!

awesome! If it's unlined, you could probably also do a plain hem. good luck!

that's how I've been wearing mine, for the most part! and thanks, I always love a little chaotic music in a video :)

I am also from the PNW. It was 116 this last Tuesday and I am NOT a fan
it's pretty terrifying 😬
@@GraciePattenSewing climate change totally isn’t real though 🙄 this is super normal PNW weather (I hope others can detect my sarcasm)
@@princessatarockconcert I was pretty sure it was sarcasm, but thank you for clarifying! I get a surprising number of climate denying trolls
