    Hi Sam! Been a long time fan. Always enjoy your video's. Clean the steering wheel on the Golf R tho! It's shiny and could look so much better lol. All the best with the Mk3 Focus RS! Got a TT RS 8j manual myself. You should really get a hold of one to do a video on.

      Thank you for the positive feedback and I am glad you have been enjoying my videos. Yes for sure it looks better shiny. I am a big fan of the TTRS and had a great time in one last year which I did share in a couple of videos including this one: ruclips.net/video/F8w-S9EfoIE/видео.html

    Hi Sam, I’ve watched your videos for the past year or so and loved the fact you make videos on your manual Mk7, I too have a manual Mk7 2015 R, When you switched from the Golf to the Ford 14.34 seconds, instantly shows the build quality of the interior golf being far superior to the Ford, just in general the Golf looks better in my opinion, you ever considered a resonator delete for the Golf? Quick and easy Mod you will not regret to add a bit bite to the sound.

      Thank you for your support and I am glad you have been enjoying the videos! Yes the build quality of the VW is actually up there with the best of them and it is hard for Ford to compete with that (Certainly during the era of MK7 Golf and MK3 Focus I feel the MK4 Focus really raised the game for Ford in terms of quality). I like how my Golf R is completely stock but I did consider the res delete early on in my ownership as I have only heard good things and like you say it is very quick and easy to do 👍

      You’re very welcome, need more manual mk7 videos out there!
      If you ever do decide to get a Res delete done I would recommend the Vag Sport one, such a much better sound going through the gears! I have the full Maxton kit apart from the spoiler which is a genuine oettinger one, modifying is not for everyone but for the golf R, just makes it stand out that little bit more from a regular golf, keep up the good work Sam, I hope you don’t focus on the focus more, pun intended, look forward to more mk7 Golf r manual videos. 👍

      Thank again Jamie! There will be plenty of RS content whilst I own the car but I have VW Golf R videos already scheduled for the coming weeks so will be a mixture of the two 👍

    got a mk7 R myself
    i cant really see much point in a manual one tbh, i think the DSG is a big part of what makes the car so good
    but then again i dont use mine that often so the DSG is still a bit of a novelty when i drive it compared to my manual dailys

      I do love the MK7 R in DSG also having driven quite a few. It is a very good gearbox and you can really get the most out of the car. Many congrats on yours and I would say it is worth holding onto as I do actually prefer it to the MK8 Golf R, which I have driven on quite a few occasions, not only from a price point of view but also as an overall package 👍

      this mk7 is the one im going to keep forever hopefully, which is why it had to be a 3 door too like yours :)

    Hi Sam, sold my Golf R last year for a Focus RS Mk3, mine is stealth grey with montune 375, it's such a fun car to drive, but the build quality is poor compared to the Golf, but the RS always puts a smile on my face.

    • @SamAustin
      @SamAustin  Год назад

      Many congrats on your MK3 RS and I am glad you are enjoying it. The extra push from the mountune 375 is well worth it to get the most out of the car plus I love the stealth grey! Interesting to hear your thoughts and I do agree with you on both parts 👍

    Very in depth review. I have a mk7 R though mine is dsg and I did have a mk2 focus rs.
    Personally, I couldn't live the ford interior and build quality. Perhaps if both are manual the match is closer but despite the extra power, the R leaves it on launch. The focus is a good car but doesn't match the R in any aspect in my opinion. But I do hope you enjoy 😉

      Thank you for the comment! Certainly each to there own and I love both cars. Your previous MK2 RS must have sounded amazing with the 5 pot 🙂 100% the refinement of the MK7 R is brilliant and it is fun also. Looking forward to getting to know the RS better 👍

  • @AdamHodson765

    Without a doubt the RS is the more engaging and fun car to drive, as well as being a lot rarer and more interesting than the Golf’s. What made me buy a Golf R over an RS though, was the interior and build quality. If I’m spending Focus RS money, I want a car that’s built as nicely as the likes of a Golf R or an RS3, not something plastic-y with flimsy build quality and reliability issues. It’s a shame really as driving any performance wise, the RS is the better car.

    • @SamAustin
      @SamAustin  Год назад +1

      Well said. Very tough to choose between them but for sure as an all round nothing really beats a Golf R for me however the Focus RS is seriously engaging which has its appeal 🙂

    • @snapsyphotoboothhire
      @snapsyphotoboothhire Год назад +1

      I’m a golf r owner considering moving to an RS as I only use the car on weekends and think it would be a bit more exciting than the R. My main reservation is the reliability/reputation of the weak engines, was this a concern concern for you Sam? They also seem to be quite a bit more expensive than golf R’s at the moment.

    • @SamAustin
      @SamAustin  Год назад

      For me I will see where I am towards the mid part of this year with the Focus RS. Reliability is also a concern but it is just a MK3 Focus so costs to fix even the worst of issues is actually not too bad. Also my car does have a warranty which is something I would recommend. As you can tell I could not choose between them and I understand it does not really make sense or is cost effective to have both. The Golf R is likely my car for life so I cannot see myself ever selling it. The Focus RS is more of a dream and an investment also as they hold there money extremely well. If I were you I would try a MK7.5 Fiesta ST as this car offers so much of the same fun without the added seriousness you get in the RS plus at around £10,000 its exceptional value. I have owned two in the past and will likely own another in the future. If you like the Fiesta ST then the RS will turn things up even further. I also believe if you look after a car it will look after you so if you do find a good RS and treat it well I see no reason why you would have any major issues.

      @@SamAustin thanks Sam, good to get your thoughts on things, you done well getting hold of an edition. I would defo go straight to an RS rather than ST though, part of the appeal of an RS is you don’t see that many of them and that colour of course is a must 😍

    • @orbytl2799
      @orbytl2799 Год назад +1

      the focus interior is pretty bad, i find the actual car not very pleasant on the eye either tbh, not the RS specifically but the 5 door focus in general is a pretty naff looking shape imo
      my mum has a focus st and the difference in build quality between that and the golf on the inside is quite apparent when ive used that on occasion
      im a lifelong RS fanboy as well, ive owned a few, but if i was going to buy a focus RS the only one i would be interested in is the first one they made
