Like @willem-janageling3907 said, he has other great albums. One of his most popular ones is 'Murder Ballads;. And the album after that is also very popular, 'The Boatman's Call'. Two extremely different albums, but so worth hearing. Thank you for doing this fantastic album.
jingle jangle This is definitely the hangover ending for the album. A swirl of emotion! Now that you are at an album end; I have a hidden gem for you: The Golden Palominos. Fronted by drummer Anton Fier; each album explores different styles and sounds! They start out as No-Wave art noise, and move into Western-tinged alt-pop, then into dreamy trip-hop. Many MANY guest artists and vocalists grace the tracks. Michael Stipe, Matthew Sweet, John Lydon (your favorite vocalist!), and Syd Straw, who I think you will quite enjoy! I would highly recommend their second and third albums. Visions of Excess, and Blast of Silence. The tracks "Something Becomes Nothing:", "Kind of True", "Boy(Go)", and "Diamond" are all great examples. Especially "Something Becomes Nothing". It was a white whale of a track for me before The Internet. I had recorded it off the radio in the 80's, and had no idea who it was! I eventually realized it was Matthew Sweet singing, but Wikipedia hadn't been invented yet. LOL
Great ending for a great album. And, sincerely, this album was never among my Nick Cave's favorite ones. I'm beginning to change my opinion. Thanks, Justin for the excellent journey and the thoughtful reactions to these tracks.
There's no one else quite like Nick Cave. With many to choose from, everyone has their favorite Nick Cave album. For me it's Murder Ballads, and then Henry's Dream. If you ever wander over that way, enjoy!
The bassist is yo! Martyn Casey! Ex Triffids and bassist on the greatest Australian LP ever conceived, BSD, "B o r n Sandy Devotional". One day you'll receive it thru the post. In the meantime, play the two opening tracks, The Seabirds & Estuary Bed and taste dat Salt. This? Good strings. & introspection. Diolch eto. What a Day. Nos Da! 🤗
The lyrics here are incredibly dark, "the coins in my pocket jingle jangle", "a voice that stinks of death and vanilla", "holding my childhood to ransom", "the clock of my boyhood was wound down and stopped", "blue black bracelets on my wrists and my ankles". Yes to everyone who's already said it, it's an amazing album, and this is an amazing end to it. It's almost bizarre in a way that the next album Murder Ballads which is literally an entire album about murder is in many ways more light hearted than this one.
I found myself more in the groove with this one. The lyrics are not a direct match to my personal situation. I do find myself in a, "do you love me?' emotional place lately.
This song is just mind-blowing. There's so much going on. I would love this song going on for 40 minutes more. Please do Murder Ballads next.

Thank you for your thoughts on this album. Nick Cave has some other great albums besides this.

Nick Cave is for me, too.
If you have the opportunity to see the Bad Seeds live then go! They're amazing. Also do Release the Bats 🦇🦇
Great album as all his are. You should do Murder Ballads next.
I'll take Part 1!
