So, I've been thinking about the apps, notebooks and planners I've used across the years. And i've used... a lot. It's ridiculous but, well, it's part of the job. I was trying to think whether there could be any way where I could simply combine everything I've ever enjoyed using into a single system that is as perfect and complete as it gets. We'll call it the 2021 perfect system. Because I also have a 2020 perfect system, and a couple of 2019 perfect systems. I will ignore those, but you can go and watch them because they may be the perfect system for you, now. What I need in 2021 is a combination of efficiency, enjoyment, portability and minimalistic planning and organization.

Personally, I like going digital for things I need to do (events, tasks, projects, and things that tend to be flexible timewise) and I like going with paper for things I am (diaries, brain dumps, habits) I need the efficiency of digital systems to be productive and I need the freedom and relaxation of paper to be reflective.

@@lesliemarie3061 I just use a travelers notebook insert and some pens. I've gone through phases and right now I like keeping things really simple so that I don't feel pressured to make it look a certain way. I use travelers notebook inserts bc they're pretty, but also they're nice and thin (I'm sick of buying bulky notebooks that I never finish.) Other than that, I have some coloured pencils, watercolours, and a roll of washi tape if I'm feeling fancy ^-^

Hey Mariana, I'm a patreon and your videos have long helped me through my executive functioning issues due to my mental health. It's inspiring to see someone organized and put together when you struggle a lot. However, I wanted to share something I've learned through my times being messy and dealing with perfectionism that I think would be helpful to you as well. When you're creating content that thrives on, well, knowing things, being perfect, it can feel really tricky when that video that you released of the perfect planner system is no longer working for you. I noticed while watching that you're being a bit hard on yourself in this video, just by some choice of wording. I promise and assure you, there is nothing wrong with being adaptable. If a system no longer serves you, then that's all there is to it. We are human beings and one of the greatest gifts we can have is being able to adapt. I think you are already very good at this, seeing you came up with a nifty hybrid system for the future. All I am saying is grant yourself permission to adapt. You do not have to make a "for all time" perfect planner set up. All that it needs to be, in that moment, is perfect for you in that space of time. If this hybrid system doesn't end up working out midyear and you get stressed that it was marked for 2021 and it's partway through the year and you don't like using it, don't stress. It served you for that block of time. you both showed up for your part. It's okay to just cooperate with your systems and go with what work for you. Atleast, that's been something my therapist has been working really hard to teach me. So yeah, I hope this little tidbit of acceptance can help fight any perfectionism, or at least serve as a reminder that it's okay from someone out there in the sea of the internet. Have a great day.

My hybrid setup since I've been doing both for school.~~
Analog - I use a pretty bare bones bullet journal for schedule planning, daily events & tasks, and notes when I'm away. Physically writing down what I'm doing the next day really helps me remember and feel focused. (I'm also a digital artist, so time away from screens to plan is relaxing + dopamine from checking things off)
Digital - I use notion for my more detailed notes and trackers. i.e. A tracker for art projects progress, a tracker for school, and one that integrates both & admin tasks. I also use it for taking notes for school, and anything else that needs a little more detail, or links & such.
And - because it's the best way I've found to automate my routine reminders - I use habitica for my habit tracking and routines, that way I don't have to rewrite them in my journal. :)

It wasn't until this video that I realized how much you've actually influenced my study and planning process over the past few years. Through your advice and recommendations I've built my own digital/analog hybrid system that works really well for me at this point in my uni career. I use a paper planner for appointments, since I find analog still gives me the most efficient and complete overview of my week. On note pages I add weekly to do- and grocery lists. For my daily planning I use Google Calendar, to structure my day hour to hour. This has really doubled my productivity in this covid situation. For notes on uni courses I use OneNote because it's the easiest and fastest way for me to switch between summaries and notes from different weeks. Last but not least, I use Notion for anything and everything else, such as wishlists, recipes and projects. I think its cool that you keep changing your planning system, since different momentsin your life require different approaches. And of course I keep learning a lot from you. Thanks!

I think after years and years of buying different planners and bullet journals I have finally found a good system that works for me. I put all my appointments/class dates/work times on my google calendar that I can then access from my phone or add to from my phone at any time. However, the calendar is for my "have to do's" and it's not for specifics. That's where my brain dump journal comes in handy. Before I had my brain dump journal I used to put sticky notes with important info/reminders/passwords/to-do lists/etc all over and I would lose them constantly. My brain dump journal is a place for my jumbled thoughts to be written down. This doesn't mean they are pretty or well organized. But I can always refer back to them later. I've been doing this for 3 semesters now, and I have gone through 4 brain dump journals, but I never throw them away because I can always refer back to them. It's so my random thoughts have a place to go and don't disappear into nothingness.

I started with better organisation of my life thanks to your videos. I tried many of your suggested methods, some of them stick with me and others weren't suitable for me at all. But I found the perfect combination from them, that is just "me". Notion is too complex, so I use OneNote for my knowledge base. I tried Bullet Journal but then I switched to weekly planner with a lot of space for notes (because BuJo system is great, but I missed preprinted days). Now I found something, that I absolutely love: paper-tablet from reMarkable. The handwritting experience is awesome, it's distraction free (no email, no browser) and I can have everything in it perfectly organised. In my "Diary" file I have template with week planner and dotted pages for BuJo style notes.
So thank you for all your videos, it really helped me find my own "perfect system".

Hi Mariana, thank you for this lovely video!
I was just wondering if you ever considered trying out "endless" notebooks like Rocketbook? They have multiple products from small flip notebooks to a nice big planner. They are made from not really a paper (but it feels like paper), the surface is erasable with wet cloth and you can scan your notes directly to different platforms and clouds. I had the same problem about wasting paper too much and I simply love the feel of writing things down by hand so I decided to give this a try. I gotta say that it's not perfect for planning, at least not for me (but I only have an ordinary notebook so far, I'm thinking about buying their planner also), but for taking notes it's perfect! I mean yes, it does take more time than typing directly on the computer, but personally I like this a lot. I still can write notes by hand and have them digitalized at the same time, it even has the OCR function for some languages, so looking up things/keywords later is also not a big problem :)

    Hey there,
I am very happy to hear from your perfect setup, since I was struggeling with the same problem. I hope it is okay for me to share my solution to it, maybe you give it a look as well.
Moleskine brought out a smart pen (around 100 $, expensive I know) but with it comes a special notebook or planer, the pen recognizes the page you are writing on and basicly syncs that with the virtual Notebook on the App. The App dosen't even have to be open, the progress can be synct later too and last year they brought there first planer out, with this tecnolegie inside. It is what I will be using next year because (this is so amazing) it can sync to your ios calendar or Google calendar, so it puts in the event you write on paper straight into your phone calendar app.
I am so blowen away by it, I hope you at least look at it. 😊
Love your Videos btw. Greetings from Germany. ❤️

Love this hybrid setup as this is exactly what I want to implement. If you are able to, are you able to showcase your entire (new and improved) Notion setup including your different workspaces, as this is very interesting to me? Thank you! Love your content.

admito também apanhei um susto quando recebi o hobonichi em França, não estava à espera de pagar tanto na alfandega. acabei depois por procurar uma copia no aliexpress, algo que queria evitar mas adorei o formato deste planner

Have you seen the planner for iPad app by Takeya Hikage?
You can use daily, weekly, monthly styles, import calendars, and hand write and use stamps! I use the weekly view and so far haven’t yet felt the need to swap back to analog since it has that flexibility of writing in ideas around my cloud calendar time slots.
