What I love about long productivity videos is that I can procastinate everything I have to do and feeling productive anyway.
Same here..
You’re a sick man 🤣
That's called "Productive procrastination"...... false sense of productivity
@@TarannumKhatriCA you do consulting for taxation and compliance related things?
Yes
Who else is procrastinating by watching productivity videos?
Nope, did the hard things right in the beginning. It's hard, duh, but every time I think: Wasn't that hard, why did I over-thought this to death?
Thinking about what you need to do kills productivity. Just do it without thinking, that works for me at least.
I feel seen 😫.
That's the danger of productivity videos. It feels like you are productive which makes it even easier to procrastinate. Most people never use any of the advice.

😂 same!!
Color-coding and time-blocking is the key. It has improved my productivity dramatically. Also, I start by planning the non-work / fun / inspiring things. Then I plan the work related stuff. Everything is in GMail and digital. And I just get reminders and don't have to remember what to do 😊

I love how simple your system is. It really stands to show that you don't need 25 different fancy apps and programs to get things done. Also loved the loud sneeze beat - truly a work of art!
That's true. It's the simplest system I've seen.
For me simpler is always better. I much prefec focusing on what I have to do rather than some complicated chain of apps and routines that in reality is just slow me down. When you go see a painting what you pay attention to? The frame it's in or the actual painting.
Everybody's asking how does Matt do things, but no one asks how's Matt. We live in a society.

Hello. I'm japanese. I often watch your video to improve english listening skill.
I want to thank you because there are a tons of interesting videos in your RUclips channel.
I'm looking forward to your next work.
Splitting up my room into different workspaces like only using my bed for sleep and only using my desk for work etc has been the biggest help lately.
Hmm as I sat editing my videos from the bed last night. I need to rethink that.
This!!! I really noticed a productivity dip when moving into a really small apartment when covid hit ;(
having a set place, and set objects to do something has also been good for me. also not turning my phone on before doing all of my goals also helped
I did this in college! I made the decision before I started freshman year to never ever do homework in bed. That way my bed was only for sleeping or relaxing and it made it easier to sleep at night.

"You might have a sneezer like this in your family"
That feeling when the loudest sneezer in the family is you
Omg! I’ve never seen such a structured files earlier.
I’ll use your idea to sort notes by folders and to name it. This way to store information is so simple and convenient at the same time!
Thanks for sharing your ideas
The notes and calendar apps do a lot better of a job at remembering what I’m supposed to do with my life than my brain does.
That's kind of the whole gist of things like David Allen's GTD. Our brains were made for having ideas, not long term storage of complex systems. We need to get all that stuff out into a different place, like Tiego Forte's system of Second Brain.
At this point I just assume if it’s not written down it’s as good as forgotten
Same! It’s finding the time to set them up!
Oh same, for sure. I even tell people that when I send them a link to book into my calendar
I'd love to have you, Thomas Frank, and Ali Abdaal all in one room and see who's the most productive

It would be Matt. Ali would start talking about how he is “insanely productive”, Tom would start setting up a score sheet on Notion and Matt would simply be getting shit done not giving a f.
Wow 😑😑
@Ariel Anny a show that would make the rest of the world less productive as we watch in horrible fascination
The fact that all my stuff was already organized in an almost identical style as Matt makes me feel like I'm on track 😏 👍
I love keeping a really thorough calendar for work, but keep all my personal time free to do whatever. Blocking out my calendar like you did for 3 months really helps me, still the method that works for me the best!
5 things Draining you in your daily life:
1.Looking at the problems rather than the solution.
(Simple law of attraction, think of the problem and only more problems and overthinking will occur.
Think about the solution and you will bring forth just that, now, all you have to do is TAKE ACTION)
2.thinking about what other people think or comparing yourself to others (compare yourself from yesterday)
3.snacking on processed/unhealthy foods
(Instead replace with things like nuts or plan out your meals more efficiently with an app like MyFitnessPal)
4.Overthinking about what you want to do
(Make clear to yourself what you want RIGHT NOW or in your future and make the choice to start it in the NOW,
+ you can write daily goals or make a morning/evening routine)
5.Over-induldging in social media or watching the news
📈
I agree 100%
It's easy to be productive if you truly love what you're doing.
That’s so true!
Absolutely
Really ??😑
Grief, mental health challenges, workaholic tendencies, addictions, various disabilities, and unhealthy relationships can cause a productivity slump...even if you truly do love what you’re doing. There’s a reason why people can indeed burnout and stop being productive even in careers they truly love 👀.
Not true. Creating habits and systems take a lot of work to stay consistent.
LOVE the checklists as a repeatable sense-check - I could do with one of these for my commute to the office, eg. bring laptop, charger, mousepad, mouse, headphones and water bottle… because it sucks when I forget one of these!

Love that intro - I actually expected an April's fool video after that 😆 What I particularly like about your tips that those tools your recommend are not super fancy and just work. Personally, I use Google Drive/Calendar and Apple Notes for 3+ years and both just work without being fancy. Apple Notes actually got better over time. Hey, in relation to the Apple Notes App, you can reorder folders however you prefer without numbering them. You’re also able to have subfolders as well in case you have a more macro category that encompasses a few different things.
I utilize the micro folders within my larger folders. It’s an excellent system.
That intro was awesome. It epitomizes “advice” we have all received that intuitively in our gut we know isn’t right.

Can I just say that you *blew my mind* ?! I didn´t know that you could add folders to the Apple Notes Tool... I´ve been using this as my catch all for years, but I always wanted to organize it and yet I didn´t know how... also, I recently figured out that I really needed a useful system and I´m trying several things (including bullet journaling) and it got really frustrating because nothing really seemed to fit me and my needs fully like the way I wanted to.... so glad you made this video... *THANK YOU* !!! I might adopt some of the things you do and try if they also work for me :)

This work from home situation is really a suitable condition to apply much more scheduling approach, since we tend to trap ourselves in social media or leisure time.
Big aha for me here was how little of my calendar I own. Too much is other people's meetings/priorities.
I think once you learn that being busy does not mean that you are being productive, you can truly begin to get the stuff that matters done.
Productivity is such a hard thing to pin down when you’re “busy” with busywork that is distracting.
Agree so much on this. It's so each to be 'busy' and to not actually get anything done. Take your time and attack tasks a few small chunks at a time.

Man, your channel is one of the best on RUclips! This video is amazing! Thanks for that.
Appreciate the content A LOT! Though if you are like me and too many systems confuse you.. these are my two cents.
I am an Ivy league MBA passout. We were taught to make fancy MODELS and STEPS so we can charge our clients more but when I opened my school in India and Italy and saw something else working better with my students.. something way simpler: we aren't productive and waste time because we don't have a good "connection" with ourselves and our goals.
We just do many things without REALLY thinking about them.
WHAT WE NEED is to spend some time with ourselves everyday planning the next day. Best way is to have a walk ALONE thinking about things to do tomorrow. VISUALIZE and make that connection. You'll also move a bit that will release the right hormones for you to have a positive connection with the next day's purpose!!
So.. JUST have a walk and visualise. And thank me later. Best of luck guys!!
Great ideas! I tend to combine most of this into my bullet journal, but I am a huge fan of using Google calendar and Google tasks to organize the overview things and to remember a task on the go
