Idk if you knew this but if a woman does a man's job in the Qun, like combat, she is regarded as a warrior (man) and not a woman. By saying this Fenris convinced the Arishok that he won't fight a weak human but a worthy for him warrior. ;)
I got this on my first playthrough when Isabela didn't come back. Was so pissed at Fenris (romance at the time) and wanted to punch him in the mouth. Stupid fight had me running like a lunatic around the pillars from that brickhouse of a qunari. >.
He was preventing the Arishok from slaughtering everyone in the building though... Single combat with the Arishok is really the best diplomatic move ;) plus it gives you more sexy scenes of Fenris speaking qunari so... :)
I'm guessing you were playing a warrior or mage because I find that duel to be not easy but not nearly as difficult with a rogue; even one on one he was one of the easiest boss fights. Then again me and my friends are convinced rouges are OP in the series.
Figured it had to be one of the 2, I have no idea why they made the rouges OP. At least it wan't a warrior I can tell you that fight really sucked for me.
First time I got this I was so pissed off at Fenris for suggesting this duel, I left him home the next time. Big mistake, because then I had to fight all of these bastards.
to answer your question in the description. Yes, Isabella doesn't return unless you are at least friends with her by the time act 2 comes to a close. If you have high enough affection, she will return with the book and then you can choose to either hand her over to him and avoid the fight entirely (the coward's way out) or fight him and keep isabella as a member of your party the rest of the game.
Puffin Entertainment - One Handed Gaming it’s either a high enough friendship OR rivalry. I’ve always done high rivalry with her and she always come backs
Coward's way? More like the "I won't ruin a perfectly majestic being just because you were stupid and didn't ask for my help plus you started this in the first place" 's way.
@@Andrea_404 Indeed. Hand over that b*tch pirate and get this over with. Besides, I respect the Arishok as a great fighter way more than a pirate slut so it would be a shame to kill the Arishok.
Lol that fight is far too overpowered. You have almost no time to use abilities so it’s all circling the piliars until his programming slows him up and taking a pot shot at him. Over, and Over, and Over again -_- I recommend a hundred potions at minimum.
Thing is, the Arisohk has an absurd amount of health, his attacks chunk half of any characters health and if he impales you with his nearly undodgable attack you are most likely dead. Worst of all, even if you manage to put him at 40% HP he just heals up at least 3-4 times. Yeah, not a fun fight at all in any difficulty or any build
I always half-assed being friends with Isabela because I didn't care about her. When I learned that Fenris can give us a chance simply by being there, I've always taken him just in case.
dragon age 2 approval system is more about magnitude than positive valence; with approval trending at 50%+ friendship/rivalry, Isabela will return with the book.
Sorry about the pause when the first dialogue wheel comes up- first time recording live gameplay- I wasn't sure if minimizing the capture screen from nvidia would end the recording :)
would i edit it on here or with the nividia capture software somehow? I mean, it's rare for me to do this at all, so i suppose i can look it up if i ever happen to encounter the situation again.. but.. perhaps if i had an idea of what i was looking up exactly i could find it better..
Unfortunately, RUclips doesn't really offer any good editing options. You can use Windows Movie Maker or Apple iMovie (both free) to make simple edits.
@Facepalm Full O' Napalm lol no.. i had already played through this exact same way before.. just found the dialogue between Fenris and the Arishok very interesting and wanted to hear it again, but couldn't find it anywhere on youtube at the time.. so i decided to try making my own clip of it.. just inexperienced with the game capture and haven't found it worth the time to figure out how to edit/clip it since then
It seems Qunari only consider their own to be 'female'. Basalit-an still has 'bas' in it, roughly meaning thing or it. So even if they're a respected thing, they're still just a thing.
The arishok is what i expected when they announced a romancable qunari in DA:I. That beast of a man with an awesome voice, cool horns, a sense of honor. I wanted Sten but with the arishok's look. Instead, I got captain small head, stomach nipples of the ss.safeword 🙄 So disappointing.
The thing is, you wouldn't be able to romance them, as there is no romance under the Qun. Have you seen the bad ending with Bull - the inquisitor was nothing to him, not even a plaything and he was just pretending as a damn good spy he is. Any follower of the Qun is so brainwashed they don't even object to what they have to do, even Bull after so many years of working in Orlais and doubting the Qun has difficulties forgetting about what he was taught...
TawniAline The name Fenris comes from Nordic Mythology. Fenriswulf, or Fenris for short is the name of the wolf that is destined to devour Odin in Ragnarok.
i got what he was saying.. the game gives an explanation of the name as "little wolf" im just not sure how the correct or incorrect translation or association of the character with wolves has anything to do with the playability of the game...
Fought him as a Force Mage build. 5 minutes of running around, spamming all of the slowing spells with an occasional Stone Fist/Ice spell/Chain lightning. Also potions. Lots of potions. Got impaled only twice. Thanks, Fenris 😅
The viscount was a political pawn of Meredith, she installed him years ago and he was the filter by which she controlled the city with less aggressiveness. The Arishok removed that and forced her to become more active to maintain her power. Since Hawke did the job faster the Arishok also served to turn Hawke into the third most powerful political force in Kirkwall, less important only in comparison to the Grand Cleric and Meredith herself. Meredith was no politician, but she was forced to become when after the Viscount’s death, thus began her mistakes. She barred the election of a new Viscount since Hawke would inevitably become it, since Hawke is the Champion and heir to the Amell family who once rivaled Dumar for the throne.
Who knew fenris was a lawyer
A RULES lawyer at that.
Fenris: MEET HER IN THE PARKING LOT IN 2O MINUTES
Arishok should have met Female Commander Shepard I hear she headbutts like a Krogan if somebody insults her or punches them XD
Hawke: And if you kill me?
Arishok: Then you are dead.

Most straight forward thing I've ever heard.
True. Dead people dont have to worry about what comes after.
That's the Qun for you.

Best written character in the game, by far.

Thank you, Fenris. I’m quite capable at getting into impossible to win fights without your help.

if it makes you feel any better, the duel would've happened even without him hanging out with you

Mage, actually. The fight's just tedious on mage, rogue was fun though. Just backstabbed, fanged and assassinated xD
