- In this video I will explain how you can restore for FREE a garden or patio plastic chair that has been damage by the sun light and because it has been in the outdoors.
Very easy DIY that you can do but take seriously the safety recommendations and always wear mask.
You can apply this technique to any garden furniture of this kind.
1990s Capisa highback restoration
The reason it came out looking less than ideal is that you moved WAY too slowly with the torch. You can clearly see the plastic melting. It’s even drippy on the front. When you do this, you’re supposed to QUICKLY wave the torch back and forth so that the surface doesn’t even get close to actually melting.
Yea he has a tour he other guys like stadium seat repair guys have their flame far away and it’s not your house line it’s just blowing fire, if that makes sense.
This is what happens when a regular joe tries to copy other yt vids and make a "tutorial" lmao
Turned out looking like a new chair but does it cause the plastic to become less strong from heating it up .Not sure if it worded that correctly my seizures causes me to mess up. I apologize for if it's wrong
Those are vintage 1990's Capisa Highback Chairs - one of the hardest models to find.
Thanks for your comment Yes! I didn't know they were difficult to find. I see they were made in Spain Olot, 1h30 from my home
Are these legit rare? I’m pretty sure my parents just got rid of a couple of these chairs a few years ago
Για έλα από Ελλάδα μια βόλτα.
Just 3D print a new one
Maybe because it's not popular there where you from
Thanks for the video. You could apply painting now, it would have a good quality of ink adhesion becouse the oxidation of surface.
you did it WAYYY too slow. you can see the plastic melting...
Thanks for your feedback 👌👍
I enjoyed.
I thought it I'd turn into something else by excess heat treatment, but you did it well.
Thanks for your feedback 👌 ✌️
Can a Hair dryer be used?
Does a heat gun have the same effect?
I guess yes but I don't believe it would be that fast
does this methord works on old washing machine plastic body?
If it is made from the same material it should but mine is not made from that material and it will create an ugly burn
It’s not free when you have to buy the torch. Just like having to buy paint.
How much amt does it take
I wonder if you could apply a good quality light color truck bed liner to make the chair even stronger?
This method works great. I just tried it. Thanks for the video. A heat gun might also work.
Thanks for your feedback
I need to know the science behind this.
Heat reconstructs the broken polymer chains
👍
What is cost of chair and that you used gas ?
Those are quality chairs, 25 €. Full gas bottle 2€, I did 6 chairs with this gas bottle and still a lot of gas left but the important here: The live of the chair is expanded and reused; less plastic in the enviroment.
It’s prob be cheaper to just buy a new chair
Less than 1 euro of gas 6 chairs restore. This chairs cost 35 € each. Plus think in the enviroment, if you extend the live of the chairs by 2 or 3 times you avoid putting extra 12 chairs of plastic in the planet
Fair enough I did absolutely no math before making this comment you win good sir
Thanks for asking👍🤙 I should had explained in the video🙂
Where’s your motivation?
More cowbell
Probably cheaper just to buy a new chair.
Why buying new chairs? To create more waste and polute the world?
Those chairs are high quality each cost 25 to 35 euros. Total gas spent, less than a bottle for all. Bottle price: 2€. It is much more cheaper to renew the chairs
$2 chair.
$5 gas.
Smart.
$30 Chair 💸
$0.50 Gas ⛽️
And I can buy several Smarties boxes for you with the saving 🍫🍫🍫
Or just buy some owatrol polytrol oil 🙄
