No, they dont relate to any of these grades. Instead those are plates. They replace old grades, so they indicates each condition of how much Bad, Good, Great, Perfect, or Misses you have. Yes Since in Normal Mode, anything after 1st stage, if you get low lifebar, it will break. In Premium, that break off lifebar is marked with grey grade

Much better than grading system in PIU earlier version (except the PIU Mobile, because it has similar grading system with that one in PIU Phoenix) Cons: - From PIU XX, there are grey grade which means stage break. I don't know why Andamiro implemented stage pass and stage break. In my opinion, It is not that necessary. If for example there is a stepchart that can be unlocked by getting A or better, you got SS but its gray, it won't unlock. - It seems to be not so logic if you got F grade but it's a Marvelous game, like you got 40 but passed the exam or got 90 but failed the exam. So, in my opinion, PIU Mobile has the best grading system, followed up by PIU Phoenix and earlier version except PIU XX. Also... why there are no E grade? It feels like something missing in grading system, D grade to F grade, it feels like two grades difference

I think E grade is more like DDR lowest grade, and they want to add that in order to avoid Andamiro from being accused of copying
E is more associated with BENAMI's DDR, and F is likely used in lieu to avoid copyright issues with them.
I think the F grade actually stands for the initial letter of fail.
