    As a person who finished bloodborne on bl 4 I totally agree with the statement that bloodborne is a more skill than stat based game, but bloodborne was a lot easier to balance stat wise since its not an open world game and in elden ring you are bound to stumble upon areas that you are just underleveled for.

    • @aperson9847
      @aperson9847 2 года назад +11

      I really don't think that the open world is the problem with Elden Ring's balance. Even if you go through all the areas in the right order, the way I happened to on my first playthrough, you'll still reach a point in the game where you suddenly feel incredibly weak, but that's not because you're underleveled. It's because you've reached the post-Leyndell artificial difficulty spike where the devs decided that even basic rats should take at least 30% of your health with each hit. Pumping vigor is a necessity but there's no amount you can have that will make the damage seem reasonable.

      @@aperson9847 I did notice that and I've been a souls fan since Dark Souls 1 so almost 12 years of playing these games over and over. Once I got to the mountaintop of giants I was getting smashed pretty often. I asked one of my friends who went through it and even though I don't remember my level at the time but he was almost double what I was with high vigor.

      as someone with 200 hours of ER and 400 on bb, i disagree quite abit, ER is a far better and more impressive game in almost everyway imaginable. bb was great for its time though, but it aint no dark souls, and it aint no sekiro, and it sure as hell aint no freakin elden ring XD
      im glad fromsoft neglected this one, overall i would say bb is the jack of all trades of fromsoft and its the least necessary and consequential, it never really perfected anything it set out to do nor did it innovate much on the souls formula, it really is pretty much just grey dark souls with a 2-in-1 weapon gimmick that isnt even well designed in more than half its weapons. every single aspect in it has been done better in one of the other games, overall it was a disappointing game when i first played it tbh, it got better with replays, but considering the pedigree and industry influence of its better siblings like DS and ER, its not surprising that fromsoft arent that interested in going back for a sequel, especially since they already made better combat with ER and especially sekiro.

    ER virgin: quantity over quality, focuses more on size and scope, bosses were designed around ganking them and are too agile and fast for the player to handle even breaking stamina rules, world wasnt designed to be 100% explored where areas and rewards are samey, difficulty is more based on build and lvl leading to massive spikes, balance is really skewed, to the point where going against the meta is practically a challenge run and following it makes it piss easy, being op is too easy, lore is (tho really good) samey fantasy.
    chad BB: quality over quantity, is more compact and focused even if its 1 note, bosses are a test of skill and balanced to be dueled and give just enough openings, world was intended to be fully explored giving variety in each, difficulty is balanced with no unfair spikes, balance is good with every build relying on player skill with said build metas only make the game slightly easier, being op is earned by going through chalice dungeons, lore is wholely unique and inspired touching on lovecraftian/eldrich themes rarely seen in modern media.

    • @flamingmanure
      @flamingmanure Год назад

      what a sweaty bb fanboy take, heres mine:
      theres more quality, detail and quantity in single areas of elden ring than most of bb, theres also better designed mini bosses than your average designed main bosses lol, crucible was more fun to fight than half of the main bb bosses. one is an exercise in going down copy pasted grey corridors with different shades, the other is an odyssey lol.
      " bosses were designed around ganking them and are too agile and fast for the player to handle even breaking stamina rules" only to bb virgins that played the game badly, with bad dodge positioning, spamming R1 and backwards dodge all the time, so ur usual bb edgy fanboy gameplay, the game loses alot of strategy of souls and devolved into R1 mashing too many times, i guess thats what you mean by a fair duel? in ER, you gotta know where youre dodging to buddy, as well as R2, jump through shockwaves and ashes of war, im guessing you barely ever broke boss posture correct?
      " difficulty is more based on build and lvl leading to massive spikes" only half true, the other half is the fact that alot of souls vets have trashy stat distribution and thought its like darkborne 3, level caps dont work the same, as for the laughably false statement of boss difficulty based on levels, it works the same for bb, they are rpgs, stop pretending bb is as balanced as something like sekiro, which is an action game, now how about this experiment, how about you give players that didnt play both bb and ER an OP build and watch how much they die, becuz both are games of skill, youre just angry that one of them hurt your ego and beat you more than you would like to admit, i would link the countless vids that showcase how bb can be exploited to highheaven using its rpg mechanics but i digress.
      "world wasnt designed to be 100% explored where areas and rewards are samey" did we play the same game? areas are samey? and the bb fanboy is saying that!??! man i dont mean to be rude but im just gonna laugh at this one as i dont feel the need to explain myself. theres also objectively more reward types in ER than in bb, so i dont know what you mean by samey here, i dont think you realize how laughably this applies to BB more, guess its that good old bb fanboy delusion thats stereotypical of the fanbase.
      "lore is (tho really good) samey fantasy." bbs is also really good, but is copy pasted "samey" lovecraft fiction, it aint original nor is it unique, elden rings lore is an epic mishmash of martins writing and miyazaki, copy pasting the generic standard critique over the fantasy genre wont make your statement any less thoughtless, its obvious since berserk exists lol, which seems to be miyazakis favorite thing ever, so its no surprise the games he put the most effort and innovation in are his medieval rpgs, and frankly the better writing in ER shows in how its npcs have laughably more character and dynamics than your generic edgy mad hunter/townsfolk of bb, which only talk about blood and beasts it seems.
      "quality over quantity" bb doesnt excel in both in alot of aspects. sekiro is better in quality and elden ring is better in both, elden rings lowest of lows dont come close to the chalice dungeons so...theres that lol. highest of highs? felt more awe going down to the underground than literally all of bb combined barring the few obvious boss moments, and thats just a single moment from ER XD!!
      "world was intended to be fully explored giving variety in each," the world of ER is not only laughably more complex and better designed, but its also optional in many areas, wheres the actual analysis of this critique exactly? how did you delude yourself that this is a plus for bb but a minus for ER? how does the open world of ER being optional, with laughably more intricacy and density than bbs copy pasted cobbled streets and castles, become a negative suddenly? then again youre a bb fanboy that says its areas and rewards are varied but ER, of all games, have samey areas sooo ciritcal analysis isnt exactly your strong suit, as is the norm with most bb fanboys that critique any other fromsoft game other than it.
      " balance is good with every build relying on player skill with said build metas only make the game slightly easier" thats a laughably, objectively false statement, meta saw cleaver builds are laughably easier than arcane builds, half the weapons arent as viable as the other half, bb started the trend of heavy weapons having a harder time in fromsoft games, and half the weapons have complete trash transformation attacks when compared to the good ones, again with this delusion that bb is actually that well balanced lol, sure its more balanced than elden souls, but not by the same amount youre telling yourself, its a smaller game in alot of ways.
      "being op is earned by going through chalice dungeons," or just slapping a blood pellet on your saw cleaver and kill vicar amelia without her even moving from her starting position wit a +3, bb fanboy delusions are so delicious to break XD
      " lore is wholely unique and inspired touching on lovecraftian/eldrich themes rarely seen in modern media." while great, its not unique, its literally just lovecraft fanfiction, now heres my final statement, you bb fanboys need to kinda chill with your inferiority complex, it aint any better than any of the other games, its just your favorite.

      Bruh if you think BB’s bosses are good then you are delusional. Most of them are really lackluster and fall over if you just get behind them, which might be your kind of boss seeing how the moment ER bosses fight back you blame them of giving you now windows and incentivize ganking.
      ER’s bosses award good positioning and aggression. BB does the same but the bosses can’t fight back when you position yourself behind or beside them. Even Maria you just close the distance and dash to her left and she can’t do anything.

    >has a section on boss difficulty being to easy
    > doesn't even mention the old hunters dlc arguably fromsofts BEST dlc with the hardest bosses in the game
    hmmmmm
    Also, boss difficulty is SO subjective that it doesnt really belong in a section attempting to make somewhat objective critiques such as the blood vials. There are people who die 70 times to Gerhman and people who 1st try him because they are parry gods. This shouldn't even factor in to any objective analysis of the games systems and mechanics because its so easily refuted by someone going "but I found it extremely hard and rewarding" while other critiques like the blood vial one is more backed by reason and evidence.
    The parry portion feels kinda like padding as well. You could say its too "easy" to cheese certain bosses through parries but the same could be said of alot of strats in these games such as bleed in ER or magic in Demon souls or full poise+ Black knight halberd in dark souls. . This goes for the "inconsistent" point as well as that is a thing in ALL fromsoft games(except sekiro). They all are about figuring out on the fly what attacks can be parries so unless you spent just as much time in your demon souls and elden ring reviews talking about this, it just seems kinda weak.Kinda seems like you didn't really have many solid negative critiques of the game and filled it with extremely subjective or easily countered "critiques" because you didn't want to come off too positive.

    • @CFU
      @CFU  2 года назад +7

      I should have been more clear about reviewing the base game. I would consider reviewing the DLC in the future. I think if you lock your best/hardest bosses behind DLC that isn't a great solution though. I certainly didn't fill my critique section with fluff - its genuinely how I feel. Some points might be more subjective, but I still prefer the game to ER.

      @@CFU fair enough, I think many would find that coverage of the dlc to be good however almost ALL games have their best/hardest/ most fleshed out content in the dlc. Due to a shorter development and more focus on a smaller package, devs usually have more leeway to think outside the box and really challenge themselves. Just look at another fantastic game like doom eternal.

    • @frankniti4647
      @frankniti4647 2 года назад +1

      I personally think that boss difficulty isn't so subjective in bloodborne compared to games like dark souls and elden ring because the player is limited to only a few builds. playing without melee in bloodborne is not viable at all but in elden ring you can be a mage and spam comet azur from a distance or pick up the rivers of blood and just spam L2 through endgame bosses. Although elden ring is open world and its certainly more difficult to balance I think the balance in elden ring is messed up. In dark souls 3 for example you had a wider variety of builds to choose from than in bloodborne but you couldnt just force your way through the entire game with op bullshit like in elden ring which a lot of players did.

    ER is better than BB because you are given more freedom, the colors in BB is mostly dark but in ER the colors literally vary, ER gives you much more weapon accessibility than BB even tho the weapons in ER don't have the same gameplay mechanics but at least they are more durable that they never break unlike the weapons in previous souls games, with the exception of sekiro, and last but not least in ER you get more endings and with whichever ending you get you get a sense of accomplishment, whereas in BB you only get 3 endings all of which feel depressing.

    Bloodborne all the way. After finishing ER I went back to BB and it just feels so much better. BB is just so much more cohesive with everything in the game complementing each other. The horror atmosphere, supported by the claustrophobic and spooky enviroments, coupled with beastly combat favoring speed and aggression. The haunting soundtrack and visceral sound effects. Enemies and especially bosses designed to fit this specific philosophy in both visual design and combat style.
    Having now played all Fromsoft soulslikes, my personal list goes:
    1) Bloodborne
    2) Sekiro
    3) DS3 & Elden Ring. They tie the third spot with ER having the best exploration in the series, but DS3 having way better bossfights.
    4) DS1
    5) DeS
    6) DS2
    So BB and Sekiro take the top two spots, those two imo have the best combat systems and best bossfights. They are also the two that are most focused on specific playstyle and philosphy. In BB you still have different weapons and builds, but you will always be an agile and aggressive hunter.
    But it doesn't take a very big brain to realize that the less the dev team has to cater for different builds and approaches, the better they can hone and polish the core experience.
    Faster and more aggressive playstyles also allow for the more outlandish anime bossfights From has become fond of. (and they are great!)
    So whatever FS do next, I hope they will finally move on from the basic dark souls- combat skeleton for good. DS3 pretty much pushed that combat system to its limit with its bossfights, there wasn't a way left for ER to top those satisfyingly. They have already created an offshoot variant with BB and something totally different with Sekiro. I'm sure they can do it again.
    And whatever approach or philosophy the decide on, it should be more focused on what it wants to be than ER.
    ER still a damn solid 9/10 though, I just know they can do better :)

    The way i played through Elden Ring on a lvl 1 wretch build with a club was to go aggresive and go for staggers. It bothers me so much that the game doesn't tell you this, since to me it feels like the intended way to fight bosses. In bloodborne, almost everything I needed to know came naturally to me. Play the game in NG+1 and 2, you will get a taste of the true difficulty of the game, as for the perry it is perfect, some Bosses are hard to perry but you can learn, however the only reason people perry is due to the internet and chat streams or comment sections warning them about it, I personally thought it was useless and only learned the mechanic until halfway through my second playthrough, it was until then when I finally understood why the mechanic is there, so yeah the reason the later bosses don't feel as challenging is because you are battle hardened, you are a completely different player by the end of it, and it changes the way in which you approach other games, but if you wanna see the true form of those bosses go for NG+ and the chalice dungeons hosing like 7 other bosses on level 5.

    Honestly, if I think about ER right now, I can't really think of any boss that I actually like to fight, other than Rykard but...come on, everyone loves looking flashy against a gimmick boss like him. That's not something bad, far from it, but I mean "like to fight" more in a non gimmicky way. When I go to Bloodborne though, I actually love these bosses! I think I'll never forget the adrenaline rush of fighting Guacamole for the first time, the insanity of seeing Amelia transform and having Maria gently rip your heart out. And while I don't want to say every boss in this game is great, in other words fuck the blue man group lookalike called celestial emissaries and what is going on with abberant beast (?), I do very much prefer them. This might be the only game where, when I couldn't beat a boss, maybe even after a lot of tries, I wouldn't take a break or go explore somewhere else, but be like "Come on, gimme another round! I wanna see some of that red on that coat!" The combat is the main appeal of all Soulsborne games, and I'm glad to say that in that regard and every other, Bloodborne will always be my favourite. From the way they designed the ares, over how every boss expresses a certain uniqueness in the way it is designed, a character of sorts, to how it frightens, scares and overkills you with the mood, Bloodborne stands unchallenged as my number one.

    I think calling bloodborne too easy is a bit unfair.
    1. Bloodborne is different from the other souls games thematically in the sense that you are actually more powerful than the foes you face. In Elden Ring and Dark souls it's emphasized how those who came before you failed, but in bloodborne you are expected to slaughter the beasts its your job. You even come across multiple hunters who have passed through the dream before you. In the other games you kill legends, but in bloodborne (except for DLC) you're killing victims. There's a reason instead of "Victory Achieved" its "Prey Slaughtered"
    2. Power Creep. Gaming in general has been in a difficulty arms race and this game came out all the way back in 2015 even playing non fromsoft games can over condition you for games like this.
    3. Its a common misconception that a lot of content creators and game reviewers uphold that people like fromsoft games because they're hard and frustrating. This isn't the case the point is to feel like you overcame a challenge, not to try your patience and waste your time. You shouldn't finish a souls game and then say, "man I wish this game made me angrier" also I don't really agree that parrying is inconsistent. From the beginning it was clear that small beasts and hunters could be and giant beasts and jump/lunge attacks (barring a few exceptions) could not be. Bloodborne's parry system is the best in the series and is miles better that ER's and DS's McDonald's wifi parries. I think criticism of the blood vial system is valid but my interpretation is that it wasn't added to arbitrarily increase the difficulty or to punish you for playing poorly although it does both, I always thought this was them trying to take inspiration from horror games by giving you a limited resource for healing it adds even more suspense for when you get near the end of a level and it encourages players to use rally to gain as much health back without using vials as possible. I do still think the system could have been fleshed out more and I see why many people aren't a fan. One of the main reasons I love bloodborne is because its like a horror game, but the protagonist is actually empowered so it comes down to them actually having the guts to face the challenge rather than the means or ability. Even though the world is against you, you are still powerful enough to win , it just comes down to your determination and skill in the moment.

The boss design in elden ring is just bullshit. It’s not even a “skill” issue. I react and read moves in real time fine. The moves are unavoidable and it becomes a memorization game. Rather than the fights being reactive, it pulls you OUT of the fight because you have to memorize moves and move out the way preemptively.

While i have not played any of the other fromsoft games other than elden ring ( i will get to all of them i swear), bloodborne will always hold a special place in my gamer heart as one of if not my favorite game of all time. Its the perfect game to isolate yourself from the constantly so in your face outside world. Its just you and the amazingly bleak and hopeless world. You cant help but wonder what life was like before the blood. Its so difficult to imagine anything but despair and tragedy in the yharnam and what i think fromsoft does so well with their games is the story telling. Their purposeful avoidance of making a straight to the player told story is an amazing idea. it lets the players mind wander deep into its lore. truly a masterpiece.

    I think bloodborne is great, but the comparison is simply unfair.
    they are both action rpg yes, but they do not focus on the same things at all.
    Elden Ring is more of an rpg, picking your stats, your summons, your consummable, you are expected not only to pick your style, but to alter it to fit the trial ahead. As you explore, you find new ways to handle problem and the game expect you to use as many of them as you stats allow, making restat super easy in case you realise your build isn't fitting with the new objects you want to use.
    Sure the action is a bit lesser, but I think the true reason so many souls player complain about elden ring is because they stubbornly try to play it like they played dark souls and bloodborne, by refusing to summon, to use the numberous consummables and sticking to only one set of weapons (some even refusing to use the gigantic catalog of spells)
    Sure that was the way to play dark souls and bloodborne, but here you are actively choosing to play in a suboptimal way and it's not the game's responsibility to make it easy for you.
    With Sekiro they didtched most of the rpg to make a pure fromsoft action game, and with Elden Ring they gave up some of the pure reflex based action gameplay for a more rpg experience, it is not inferior, just different, which is why I think the "better" is unfair here. Those two games simply have different qualities that will be appreciated differently, and the huge sucess of Elden Ring shows that there are definitely players who enjoy it's style.

    Elden ring is great but it lacks balancing and even if you are just exploring you may end up finishing the game or ruining the quests or miss out due to you having no sense of direction. They should lock a ton of areas until you finish a certain area like gta san Andreas so you can understand the story and your purpose. Sure, for veterans or who looks up way too many guides would manage to do it right but what about those new ones. The other problem with elden ring as we kinda had on dark souls games is the ability to break the game with insane builds. Sekiro so far felt more balanced since you are forced to get good and learn all the skills and items to your advantage with only one weapon you mainly use. Sekiro is a pure skill game followed by bloodborne which can be broken too but not to the extent of elden ring unless you mod the saves. My buddies that I invited to the game had fun but never really understood the story of elden ring since few dialogue here and there or clues compared to sekiro and bloodborne and even dark souls was a bit confusing but towards the end you can peace it together. Elden ring fell short on that and wishing more bosses were made since it's an open world new areas and have that sense of adventure and curiosity. It also needs more random events to happen instead of all monsters lingering around. Like rdr 2 random animals fighting or just straight up doing dumb things you wouldn't expect. Even witcher 3 had more life in their world. All the games they did prior to elden ring is like a building connected from top to bottom and elden ring is like they spread those floor buildings into areas. It's pretty but in can get tiring after a while. Let's wait for the dlc and it may improve or not. I prefer linear now since it will guide you where to go and gives me the opportunity to possibly finish it faster and have more time to play other games. Open world are commitments since they have a ton of quests to finish to level up or get something and people miss out on other games because they have the sense of duty to finish the game they bought for 60 or 70 dollars unless, you got cheaper or free. Yes, you can say it's their first open world but, they already have other developers made games and showed it can be done so take notes and make a new and better experience. I had fun with elden ring but felt not that too excited towards the end and those disappointing endings. I will come back when the dlc comes.

      @@CFU sekiro is their best game so far imo. They force you to get good and you only have your sword and prosthetic and items. If you die that will be your fault. You can change the look if you have dlc. I look at these games as sekiro as the game where you test your full potential, elden ring the play ground on testing your creativity and just boosting your morale due to how many broken builds you can do, and the legendary bloodborne the game that teaches you the mechanics, experience, conditioning your mind being paranoid at times and welcomes you to the world. And of course demon souls and dark souls teaches you despair, loneliness and how the lore is. They are all great games but not everyone would have the time to get good or to explore a massive world.

    Fantastic review. I love all souls titles and BB is no exception. My biggest critique is Blood Vial farming as well. I stumbled upon a tough boss that I dont think im supposed to fight till later or higher level as i was taking only tiny tiny amounts of hp off him but i thought it would be fun to take em out anyway through practice and perseverence until i remembeted arfter a bunch of failed attempts i would need to farm up hundreds of blood vials again and I said nah F that. Thats bad. Thats the vial system actively discouraging me from taking on tough bosses out of order. Still afantastic game though. Probably best game on ps4 imo

The style is consistent; the game stays true to story, having everything following the asthetic.

    I really don’t understand ppl who farm for blood vials. Maybe pre-cathedral ward. But once you reach cathedral ward start buying them.
    Have echoes left after leveling up? Buy vials. Never leave the Hub with souls. By the time you head to bergenworth enemies drop so much cash that vials and bullets shouldn’t be a second thought.
    I’ve heard ppl tell me they hated farming vials and they were in the Nightmare of Mensis 😂
    The only serious problem with Bloodborne is the pvp/co-op using a weird bell system instead of summon signs.

    I liked bloodborne, I have played all of the souls games and its a good game. I did find myself thinking the game was a little less challenging. People always told me this game was one of the harder games in the series and I have gotta say, this game is easier than DS3, Elden Ring, and Sekiro easily. It was very underwhelming, but it was still an enjoyable game. I honestly put this game beside DS1 in terms of how hard it is, they are certainly different gameplay styles, but it really is one of the easier games. I almost think this is a good thing though, as this was a lot of players first souls game (Due to it being a heavily marketed PS4 exclusive). The easier bosses allowed them to get into the whole series. I also think that's why it is often prasied as the "best" of the souls games. While its a great game, I feel most of the absolute praise for this game over the others is due to it being so many players first souls experience. I think overall the best game in the series in my opinion (including DLC) is DS3, the early game is quite meh, but the late game and DLC is wonderful. Dark souls 1 has the best experience in the series in my opinion for the first half of the game. Elden Ring is insanely fun with all the build variety. Bloodborne feels very simple, but fun and aggressive. A great first game for at the time at release. Now when people say that the game is beautiful I do almost kind of wince at times, like I understand the the art style is certainly amazing. People almost always forget to mention the game has ZERO antialiasing. Like I don't understand how people do not mention this, and it is not due to resolution (the game runs at a flat 1080p). 1080p with decent AA is at least presentable, this game is covered in jaggies everywhere. The Frame pacing is awful as well. This game is a decent 8/10 in my honest opinion, but obv that's just my experience with it as someone who enjoys all of the games (other than DS2). It wasn't as good as people made it out to be in my opinion.

    I love Bloodborne, and I like this video (subscribed!), but I prefer Elden Ring between the two. I've finished both games over 30 times each, including BL4 and RL1 respectively. Bloodborne has incredibly weapons, fascinating lore, and mind-blowing DLC, but Elden Ring has way better performance, and I prefer (though this is subjective) its levels, enemies, bosses, and characters. Don't get me wrong - Ludwig and the Orphan of Kos are two of the best boss fights ever made in a video game, and Central Yharnam is phenomenal, but Elden Ring feels more consistently polished and balanced to me. Plus, Elden Ring is super gorgeous and colorful, which is something I miss sorely when I go back to previous games, and the Blood Vial system is a big step back from the Estus formula introduced in DS1. They're both insanely good games though, so it's not important to compare them lol

So you'll less likely to die if you keep hitting bac whwn farming for blood vials. You would beat the game a lot faster if you have the option to get max potions and rally mechanic after resting and might be a different review of the game then.

There were a lot of average or even annoying base game areas as well. The base game is a 6/10 for me. The dlc is an 8.5 though. Definetly far from a masterpiece. Id say Sekiro is the closest souls has ever come to being perfect, despite it not being my personal favorite.

    While I totally agree that Bloodborne is not difficult and I don't think any of the bosses took me more than 3 tries either on my first playthrough, if you haven't killed all the bosses in the base game nor touched the DLC, can you really judge the difficulty? Everyone who plays From Soft games regularly knows that the DLC is where the real challenge lies. The DLC for Bloodborne is also the best part. Now, the game does get extremely difficult in new game+ cycles, especially with bosses like Laurence.
    As to your point about blood vial farming, I've only had to blood vial farm once ever and I've beaten the game upwards of 15 times at this point including a BL4 run where I also didn't have to farm vials. This is something I/assume other YTers making longer videos struggle with. Walking the fine line between informative/entertaining. The fact is if you are entertaining people they are likely to stick around (increase watch time, more likely to engage, more likely to return). Entertainment can be achieved a bunch of ways: good editing, good core content and often jokes. If you look at big YT channels or even narrow down to big gaming channels like Girlfriend Reviews about every 10 seconds there is a cut/joke thrown in. GF Reviews strikes the balance a bit more on entertaining, but always keeps informative in mind. Finding that balance is... hard. Continuing to make content hopefully equates to finding that balance.

    Honestly, after having put 80+ hours into ER and still not having finished it, I'm not sure I have the motivation to deal with the further BS this game throws at me. I will finish it, because the sunken cost fallacy made me its bitch, but I really don't like the game. Bloodborne on the other hand might just be my favourite game of all time, and a contender for objectively the best game of all time. Kind of like how Twilight Princess is my favourite Zelda game, and how BotW has left me a rather hollow person. I much more appreciate a tightly tailored and slightly linear challenge with actual roadblocks that test what you've learned so far, over an open world with really not a single incentive to explore beside curiosity and a weak story. I play minecraft for that.
    Also, combat wise, I love how Bloodborne incentivises riskful aggression more than any other game I've ever played. The rallying system alone does a great job with that, but combined with beast blood pellets, it makes for a game that actually has me feel like my character. As if every move I make towards my enemy is one that actually saves my own life. The weightiness of soulsborne combat has always had that effect on me, but bloodborne finally allowed me to truly get in the thick of it and come out on top feeling satisfied, and even proud of every kill I make. I truly feel like I'm a hunter of beasts.
    Also, the weapon variety in Bloodborne is arguably greater than any other soulsborne game to date. Sure, in raw numbers it seems lacking, but having 20 different straight swords with only slightly tweaked numbers and movesets still only feels like having 1 weapon to me. Even more so with the interchangeable ashes of war in ER. Bloodborne chose, on purpose, to have one kind of each weapon, and even dared to give nearly each weapon two whole movesets to choose from. This gives insane amounts of complexity to any encounter you go into, as you can change your approach to an encounter mid fight with the press of a single button, sometimes even allowing that change to be an attack in and off itself. Not to speak of the uniqueness of some of these weapons. Take for example the Amygdalan Arm. A freakish hammer/scythe that is unlike anything I've seen before or since in any fromsoft game. Or the Stake Driver. Or even something as simple as the Hunter's Saw Cleaver.
    And on a final note, the boss variety in Bloodborne is amazing. Sure, there's only like 23 of them disregarding the chalice dungeons, but they all feel amazing to fight (beside amygdala and rom, but that's beside the point). The DLC kicks this up a notch, going to 11 with insanely difficult fights like Orphan and Ludwig, challenges that have been unmatched in both difficulty and challenge except for maybe Gael. The movesets they employ feel truly unique to them, while still following a general pattern of beast and man that you can master during your time with the game. This allows them to gradually make the fights harder, while not throwing BS curveballs your way. This has really only been done again with the DS3 DLC, as both the Demon Princes and Gael test your skills in a variety of different playstyles you should have picked up during your playthrough.
    Anyway, to wrap my long ass comment up, Bloodborne is amazing. And though I may never play it again, my time with it has been more memorable than any other game, and I'm proud to permanently carry the Hunter's Mark on my arm til the day I die.

    If I may comment once more
    Elden Rings difficulty is attuned to the Smithing Stones found in specific areas of the map and you control how difficult or easy the game is through them. The way Fromsoft intended the system to work is you explore, complete a dungeon, then proceed and the bell bearings grant the boost to deal better damage in their respective areas..
    They even made it so bell bearings carry over to NG+ to make getting them less tedious.
    I personally enjoyed feeling under leveled in ER because I noticed early on melee was polished beautifully enough to fight back, the dodge is less insane than ds3 which I can respect, and my damage didn't make the fight last a few seconds
    The extra aggression of the bosses is actually a new stance system inspired by Sekiro and the more they attack the easier it is to break their stance with charged attacks
    As I said before I'm used to Doom Eternal so I'm already extremely aggressive and figured out early if you out maneuver the boss and do big damage in a short time they always stagger
    You can stagger a Crucible Knight with a caestus if you time the R2's correctly and it doesn't have to charge
    Bloodborne for me is alot easier than ER because I centered my build around the Skill stat so my parry + ripostes can one shot almost everything in game from a distance which makes Bb feel slower to me than both Ds3 and ER
    It's extremely subjective
    I'm more happy ER introduced more people to Soulsborne games than anything

    • @Kn1ghtborne
      @Kn1ghtborne 2 года назад

      You can also stagger Radagon
      As soon as the cut scene ends Spawn in 2 Flame of the fell God orbs and hit him with an extremely hard ash of War when they go off
      He staggers for a crit
      But be advised I did it with the Bloodhound Fang's L2 which hits hard as hell
