      I pray daily. I’m not so sure I will see much improvements in mental health drugs, at least not in my lifetime. Personally, my faith, GOD, prayer and reading all the stories in the Bible has worked wonders for me, spiritually speaking. All through growing up since the age of 14, my soul was robbed from me. My dear parents always looked to Doctors as GODS. No one could hear my cry’s about what those drugs would do to me while on them. The devil makes sure to make you think the drugs are supposed to be taken, because if you try to get off of them, it makes the relationships between side effects and the diagnosis hard to decipher. In my opinion it’s all a bunch of poppy cock!!! Thank You Jesus for setting me free and never giving up on leading me to your TRUTH . I love life way too much to ever allow anything to rip my soul out of my body again. There has never been any confusion here on my part. I’m not 14 years old anymore. 1/2 my life was taken hostage by the system and inhumane drug treatments from those Devils.

    I gained almost 35 pounds in two months ... I was started on 400mg injectable - they said they put me on it because it has the least side effects? They have weaned me down to 150 mg injectable and dispose of the other 150 - it only comes in 300 and 400 - was never warned about the compulsive shopping, sex, gambling and eating. The most weight I have gained in the shortest amount of time in my life - I can not fit in my clothes and do not want to leave the house - given the choice if I never would have agreed to allowing this to be injected into my body! I probably have now gained over 40 pounds in just over four months and still gaining - I know stop eating right? I wish it was that easy! I told them about the weight gain and they initially did nothing?????? I had to argue to get them to see there are no benefits so far - so why the risk? I know the likely answer and they will never admit this - I am on a CTO - AKA - Forced drugging! In my experience forced drugging is somewhat equivalent to sexual assault! You have no choice and your "no" please stop you are hurting me - means nothing. Torture comes to mind and the torture chamber is my own body!

    How worrying it is, then that the Healthcare Commission should report last year that almost 40% of people with psychosis are on levels of antipsychotics exceeding recommended limits. Such levels cause heart attacks. Indeed, the National Patient Safety Agency claims heart failure from antipsychotics is a likely cause for some of the 40 average annual "unexplained" deaths of patients on British mental health wards.

    I've been on abilify for years now, have gained a lot of weight, crave carbs etc. I was originally put on it as an adjunct to an antidepressant & had tried a number of different antidepressants over the years. A few years ago I was so frustrated by the weight gain I went off it all at once on my own & became suicidal within a couple of weeks. I tried to ride it out for an additional month but finally went to the local "psych" ED & was admitted to the in-pt mental health unit for a week. Went back on it & slowly the depression lessened. A couple of years ago my psych Dr knew I was still frustrated by carb cravings & weight gain & we decided to try Latuda instead but even after a year of taking that my depression became worse again. I hate taking anti-psychotics. There are a lot of side effects & I hate being so dependent on this med. I really don't know what else to do but keep taking it. I have insurance that covers it but feel guilty because I know it's extremely expensive although the Latuda was 3 times as much.

    I’ve been on Abilify 10mg for Schizophrenia for about 8 weeks. Three days ago I suddenly stopped eating and lost 15 pounds in two days. The weight loss was just as unnatural and unhealthy as the weight gain I had from a couple weeks of Mirtazapine (30 pounds) and a couple months of Invega injections (20 pounds). The Mirtazapine gave me psychosis and the Invega made me feel like a zombie. Abilify helps me think clearly but 10 mg is too much for me I’ve been cutting my pills in half. The symptoms don’t seem to go away... I’m going to start monitoring my daily intake of vitamins and minerals. Schizophrenia patients seem to be deficient in certain vitamins and minerals. Taking the daily recommendation of vitamins and minerals should decrease my schizophrenic symptoms so I can safely lower my dosage. I’ll probably stay at 2mg for the rest of my life unless my vitamin and mineral treatment works!

I was prescribed Abilify this week by a suboxone Dr and a psychiatrist who told me I should take it to manage the withdrawals while I wean off if suboxone.....but after reading all this I'm scared outta my f...ing mind to even give it a shot. I think at this point the fear of the negative outweighs any possible gains

We were talking about depression and anxiety and he told me he was on this stuff, he’s on 4 drugs and takes a drug every night to sleep. He told me he goes to bed at 8pm and sleeps until 6am. He has no energy and is a total drag to work with, there is no conversation, all day every day just nothing. It sucks, I myself am on lexapro and Wellbutrin for depression and anxiety. Its better to take something natural and seek psychological therapy, than dealing with any of the atypical neuroleptica. They are too strong and will give very nasty unacceptable side effects on day 1. At least never use a depot injection this will last for 6 weeks. Maybe you can risk 5mg a day for a few weeks if there is a strong psychosis or anxiety. in my expierence it works best against anxiety. Depends on the person, though. For many its very nasty to lose control, due to raging, should be taken together with the classic haldol to counter some of the side effects of abilify.(5mg) If you lose all your money to loss of impulse control like extreme shopping and gambling stay far away from this drug. If you hit yourself and/or others for no reasion, don't take this. It can cause such nasty behavious that could bring you to jail in the end, as i wrote before, it helps extremely against anxiety, a little bit too good, because no longer you fear anything, not even violence, losing all your money or ruining your health. If all that was the case before, abilify will multiply those bad behaviours destroying your life. Its an very evil drug that got better marketing than most others for whatever reasion.(Money ofc)
    Personally this should only be given in a ward in a controlled environment with doctors around you - not to people at home for every day usage, its far too unpredictable and dangerous for that, heck a person taking this could land in the news - the bad news.

    I hate this abilify. I am too tired to excersise I compulsively eat and I have gained 30 pounds. It is giving me chronic depression. Its supposed to be for my bipolar but it is causing depression not helping it. I have a hormonal imbalance. I am impaired and fat. I feel borderline suicidal but not suicidal on abilify forced injections. I get nothing done on this medication. I spend money stupidly and regret it. I am impulsive. The depression is so severe I can barely function. Antidepressants make me really depressed and give me full blown amnesia. Any spirituality or creative inspiration is long gone on this abilify.

    I was just prescribed this for Bipolar Type II, so far the biggest side effects I noticed are tremors and that it does nothing to help my GAD and in fact makes it much worse, however that could also be because I discontinued Lexapro (I was put on that before they knew I was bipolar and I started having more severe manic symptoms). I'm optimistic though, since it's only been a few days and I know I have to adjust to it. So far the dysphoria of stopping Lexapro is keeping my from noticing any real positive effects except I have much lower desire to smoke cigarettes (went from a pack a day to a couple cigarettes a day) and binge eat (which used to be a huge problem for me). However, with that also comes a lower desire to do pretty much anything but stay in bed all day. Is there something I can take in conjunction with this, be it a supplement I can buy or something I can talk to my psychiatrist about, to help with anhedonia and lack of motivation? Or for that matter the worsened anxiety? I've yet to follow up with him yet so I honestly don't even know how long it's supposed to be until I notice positive change, if it's like SSRIs where it could me weeks to months or if it should start working quicker.

    • @Abdullahalh99
      @Abdullahalh99 4 года назад

      Hey man, so it’s been around a year. How did Abilify turn out? was it any good for bipolar type II?

    • @jali4000
      @jali4000 4 года назад +1

      @@Abdullahalh99 Well, for me personally it very much did not work out. In the interest of clarity, I'm not sure how pertinent it is, but I do want to point out that it's not "man", because medications can affect men and women very differently. I normally don't bother because in most contexts it doesn't matter.
      As I adjusted to it, the initial improvements I noticed went away and I began smoking and binging/purging to the same extent. The anhedonia, lack of motivation, and general fogginess got considerably worse, about on par with Seroquel, which I stopped taking specifically for those reasons and weight gain.
      What ultimately made me quit was the anxiety, which got precipitously worse until after a month and a half it led to me having the worst panic attack I've had before or since. Being confined is probably one of my deepest fears and what this led to was me having a panic attack in the middle on a 25-hour train ride from Chicago to New York wherein I had a complete break with reality and for some reason decided the best thing for me to do was to get off the train in the middle of nowhere in Kentucky in a town with a few dozen people with no money or way of getting home or to where I was going. Sufficed to say that didn't help my situation lol.
      But having been off that since and having a few other trials and tribulations I'm doing far better than I ever have in my entire life with my bipolar and BPD being very well managed with 200mg of Lamictal and 300mg XL of Wellbutrin. I still have hypomanic episodes (could you tell?) but they don't get out of control to the point of psychosis like they did a couple years ago and my depressive episodes are less severe and present mostly as exhaustion and an inability to focus rather than the deep anhedonia and melancholia they used to feature. I've entirely quit smoking and have been losing weight healthily without binging or purging for months, both of which I credit to Wellbutrin.
      I would be happy to talk more about my experiences with lamotrigine, since it's what I credit most of this on and of the dozens of drugs that I've done, licit and illicit, it's my favorite by far.
      Everyone's brain chemistry is different and it can be very difficult to find the right drug, I wish you the best and I hope you can find a state of mind that you feel comfortable in and one in which you and the people around you are safe. That's the only goal I think, not to bully yourself into behaving how other people say you should behave.

    I took 2 mg Abilify for depression in 2011 as an add on for depression. It was very effective, but I went off because of weight gain, but I did try it again in 2019 for a short time. I've recently been diagnosed with cervical dystonia, akathisia, and tardive diskenisia by a movement specialist.
    I had minor symptoms of all these things prior to taking the Abilify, but only see them now, looking back. I'm trying to find out if the anti-depressant/anxiety drugs I've taken for 25 yrs could be a contributer, mainly buproprion and fluoxetine. I'd like to find a specialist, as I have limited resources when I live.
    On another note, I am extremely concerned with how psych meds are managed (or not) in the elderly. My father was on Effexor when he went in for a CABG, hand came out of surgery delerious. Yes, this was probably the anesthesia, but he was then not able to take his psych meds for over a week. Effexor is horrible to withdraw from, I know from personal experience, and can cause a whole host of physical problems. ICU/Drs viewed his psych meds as not neccesary, so they did not consider the effects of withdrawal or the psych meds they gave him for the delerium. I saw this again and again each time he was hospitalized - the psych meds are almost ignored.

      Back when I originally went on Abilify, the bad psychiatrist I was with started doubling my dosage every week, from like 5 mg, to 10 mg, then 20 etc. I started to develop really intense signs of Akathisia, because I wasn't warned about how the "medicine" or whatever you want to call it interacts with caffeine. I thankfully was immediately taken off... but he never really went in-depth about any of the drugs he wanted me to take. I'm really sorry that happened to you. You hear all the time in psychiatry "Do no wrong", but what about "Make sure to warn?".

      Lamictal caused a great amount of hair fall, when I took it for just a month. The doctor had prescribed 25 mg, twice a day. Then he increased it to 100 mg --- 200 mg a day. This was 5 years ago and that doctor was a real shitty one, telling me "We don't do psychotherapy here". By the way, it was called '... Psychiatry & Psychotherapy Clinic", huh! Now, I started with a real minimal dosage of Abilify, just yesterday and just 1 mg. In two weeks, I'll take 2 mg per day, but I'm afraid this also will cause hair loss, besides these huge side-effects. Any comments on this?

      Not sure about Abilify combined with Lamictal. I had good experiences with Prozac and Lamictal combined, as well as Paxil and Lamictal. Lamictal doesn’t cause weight gain like Abilify does.

Anyhow the psychiatric profession is creating a vicious cycle for drug takers, who end up taking more drugs to feel better from antipsychotics, some people are not even aware how shit antipsychotics are making them feel because they were drug addicts to begin with, they have no insight. I'm not saying your one of those people this is just what I have observed, however if you dont suffer from abilify or Any antipsychotics your a very lucky person.

      @Kent Van Heerden I went right back on depakote currently taking 1500mg 3x a day 1 in the morning 2 at night at 500mg tablets I still have my depression happen but I try to do stuff that makes my happy I think the biggest problem is if you aren't being able to do stuff you like to do that could make you depressed which is my case I work roughly 40 hours a week and hardly get to do the stuff I want to do which is to work on fishing videos for me other RUclips channel. Plus I'm basically trying to off debt which I thought I was gonna have handled with income tax but because of a error on my tax I ended up making a huge mistake which was buying a Kayak assuming I was gonna be able to pay off the Kayak and off down the rest of my debts but I barely made enough to pay off the Kayak.

      @Kent Van Heerden Ever since I got off the Risperidone my sexual side effects went away that I had while on it. Like everything that was effecting me with my girl friend was gone when I went back on Depakote so many doctors claim theirs better medications then that and Xanax but I've been on a few and it's not worth the time waiting to find out if its gonna work or not. All I know is I was dealing with serious depression and Anxiety that even calling the suicide hotline was a waste of time because they didn't care all they wanted to know is if you were wanting to hurt yourself or anyone else and if not they didn't care. Because Likely once you tell them you're they will send the police to your house. Them phones are kind of like 9/11 dispatch they know where you're.
