    Maryland has two very good Tight Ends that's why the starter from last year transferred. Dylan Wade and Preston Howard are future stars.

    I think people are underestimating our defense. The whole defense is coming back besides a few players and we got good replacements for the few that left. The Auburn bowl game pretty much that whole team is back plus some key incoming transfers and recruits. The only guaranteed loses are Oregon and Penn state besides that we can win every other game. I feel like USC IOWA Minnesota Northwestern games will be very close 50/50 type games. We also have one of the best Wide receiver duos with Kaden Prather and Tai Felton who both should go off this year.

    The defense has been steadily improving year after year. They were a solid bunch last year and have talent again this year, even after Barham transferring to Michigan. The line actually looks more talented this year than last year. Certainly in terms of athletic potential. Three transfers that were highly ranked HS recruits are manning the guard positions. And MD lines of the past under Edsall and Durkin always looked smaller than the Top 20 teams lines. Good running back room, and a solid set of receivers and tight ends. The question is quarterback. MJ Morris had the best spring game and the most talent of the bunch. Edwards always looks like he makes the right passing decision, but he's never quite accurate enough. The same with Edge. If Morris can figure it out, they can let that 4 star recruit sit for a year as a redshirt.

    4-8 to 10--2, pretty much sums up the usual annual projections. That's why we play the games. One year, Lucy will not pull the ball away.

      If Locksley has a better record than last season he should get coach of the year or at least be a candidate in my opinion given how much he loses.

    Maryland hasn’t finished better than 7-5 in the regular season in the 10 years since joining the B1G in 2014.
    They’ve never had a winning conference record. Even if you spot them 3 conference losses to the big 3 they’ve consistently underperformed.
    The break up of divisions might help Maryland but I think in the long run adding 4 programs who are more successful and high profile than Maryland has been is going to push them farther down the ladder.

    • @collegefootballwithsam
      @collegefootballwithsam  5 месяцев назад +5

      I did not watch every Maryland game no, but he was graded highly by PFF. I used star as in "He is one of the better players on offense" not one of the better players in the Big Ten. Was I wrong there? I am sorry if I missed the mark there, Lawrence.

      @@collegefootballwithsam It's OK. I know you cover the entire country and you do an amazing job. There are going to be a couple blind spots especially on teams that aren't super relevant in the national picture like Maryland. I wouldn't say that he was a star even for Maryland, and not one of the better players on the offense. I subscribe to PFF also, I like them, but they definitely have some questionable ratings. This is one of those examples. I probably wouldn't rank him as one of the top ten players on the offense last year. Delmar Glaze was the closest thing to a star on the offensive line. He was drafted.

    I think we start 6-0 and locksley fails to win more close games against USC and Iowa before things go downhill. I think after starting 6-0 we go 7-5 beating Rutgers. Locksley is recruiting very well this offseason and a QB the caliber of Taulia is projected to sign with Maryland by the name of Malik Washington. That would give Locksley 2025-2028ish to show off his talent. If he can’t get it done AGAIN with another high caliber QB, then moving on from him might be on the table. Anyways…
    GO TERPS

      Moving on...I don't we are going to move on as long as he is pushing out 8 wins bowl wins. Unless, MD finds someone that wants to be at MD just as much as Locks, it's not happening. MD does not going to repeat history when they fired Friedgen.

    No where. If James Franklin had a little brother it would be Mike Locksley because they both suck at winning big games. Mike Locksley’s teams are like the little blue engine that could. They give you a tuff fight just to bow out in the end

    • @collegefootballwithsam
      @collegefootballwithsam  5 месяцев назад +2

      What makes that analogy even better is James Franklin owns Mike Locksley (outside of 2020). The 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2023 matchups between the Nittany Lions and the Terps have all been 17+ Penn State victories. I think Maryland regresses big time this year.

      Sam, you didn't mention that Maryland picked up Isaiah Wright from the transfer portal. Isaiah could slide in at right or left tackle. The guy also has experience playing center. Sam, you are correct the offensive line is a question mark. The QB position is a question mark as well. The defense as you said looks experienced. I don't listen to negative opinions online. Maryland just won three bowl games in a row under Mike Lockley. Can Mike Locksley get more than eight wins? We will all just have to see. The Big Ten is a very tough league.

      😂😂😂...ridiculous, no winning seasons from 2010 to 2020 to 3 winning seasons and 3 bowl game wins in a row. Not earth shattering but not a bottom 10 coach in ALL of college football. The metrics don't add up which makes your comments seem personal or just hate-O-riffic lol

    • @johnfischer4090
      @johnfischer4090 4 месяца назад +1

      Those were different coaches they had during those years @bigred5222. In the early years under Ralph Friegen, Maryland was a respected team in the ACC. Then, yes, everything went wrong for a long time. Randy Edsell dragged Maryland into the ground, and James Franklin, the coach in waiting, turned Penn State into a powerhouse team. How many bowl games has Nebraska won lately? Not very many.
