I'm loving all the crystal clay tutorials! Honestly at first working with crystal clay didn't interest me at all... I think you've convinced me! Thanks for all the great videos, keep up the great work!
Yes.. you can use sculpey - we do it all the time... not sure why she said know but do a video search here and you'll find tons of similar videos that should how easy it is to do with polymer clay as well. Mica powder can be baked of course... a simple youtube search shows you that. Enjoy!
i really appreciated this uniquely interesting video. Julie illustrates that more professional pieces can be easily made by crafters. I loved this Vid!!
Sure! We have lots of free projects using large hole beads. We've added a link in the video description underneath this video for our Pandora Style Beads 101 page.

for a true Pandora bracelet which are about 4.0 you will need 4.5+ Grommet/Cores..Thanks for the video! I am making the European style paper beads...new to me! ...I will venture into clay/ect when its more economical for me:)
preciosas. me encantaron, quería preguntarle que es lo que utiliza para realizarlas es fimo?? porcelana fría ?? secan al aire?? Muchas gracias y un saludo
Crystal Clay is a 2 part epoxy clay which is self hardening, meaning you do not need to bake or fire it. You can read more about it in the product description. Click on the link for Crystal Clay in the video description underneath this video to get that info. Yes, you can use lever back earrings for this project.
Hi Julie!! This is such a beautiful piece. I love it! My question is, does the mica powder need a sealant? Will it ever get washed?? For example, if I wear the bead or other jewelry pieces with mica powder and the jewelry piece gets wet when washing my hands, is there a chance that it may come off? If there's is a sealant, what brand can I use?? Thank you Julie
If you think you might get the bead and the jewelry wet, I would suggest sealing it just to be safe. For something like this, I would use a matte acrylic spray sealant to preserve the original look of the piece. You can usually find something like this for around $5 at the hardware store or an art store. Do a test piece first though and make sure you like the result because applying any type of sealant will alter the look slightly. If you want a glossy finish, then get a gloss spray sealant. Have fun!
HI julie, always love to see your beautiful works! I realise that you would always use crystal clay. I'm from malaysia and we are not able to find it here. Only Polymer Clay is available, so been wondering if its ok for me to use it for this project? Will the chaton hold after drying? Please advice - thank you.
Polymer clay needs to be baked, so for this project it will not work. Crystal Clay is also sticky so the chatons will be held in place and not fall out. We do ship to Malaysia if you are interested in the Crystal Clay: www.beadaholique.com/c-63995-epoxy-clay.aspx?RUclips&
These items used to be available on our site. Unfortunately, the mica powders have been discontinued. The grommets are currently out of stock, but should be back in a few weeks: beadaholique.com/search?type=product&q=grommet
Epoxy clay is what you will want to use for this project because it will air dry and it has a special "sticky" property to it. I would not recommend baking metal the metal cores or the rhinestones used in this project like you would have to do with sculpy - you would also then have to glue the objects in place later since they will not stay embedded on their own. I am also not sure if the mica powder should be baked or not.
+Jules Giessing Gourley Crystal Clay doesn't manufacture a clear version and I haven't seen anyone else on the market with clear epoxy clay. There are polymer clays available in clear, but because those need to be baked they wouldn't be useful for this application. If we ever do find a clear epoxy clay we'll be making a video about it for sure.
Thanks :) We carry the mica powder ourselves in a bunch of different metallic colors, you can check out the selection here: www.beadaholique.com/jewelry-making-supplies/mixed-media/glitter-mica-powder/mica_powder
We sell grommets ranging from 4mm - 5.5mm (then they fit bracelets slightly smaller). Since there are a lot of large hole style bracelets on the market right now, it is best to measure the diameter of the bracelet you are trying to fit and then choose the right grommet. I used Crystal Clay for this project, which is an epoxy clay that dries on its own, you do not need to fire or bake it.
Where do you get all the items you’re working with
It's really unique work
I'm going to try this but using Cold Porcelain Clay instead!!

Would you use the spray sealant before or after putting on the chatons?
That's so clever

Pretty

Where do you get the grommets from
Crystal clay is new to me. Where can I buy it?
Unfortunately, the Crystal Clay products have been discontinued. However, we have left the video up for reference. Thanks for watching.
What size chatons were used?
I have a question can you use thermochromic dust instead of mica metallic dust
Although, we have not used thermochromic dust, it should work as the crystal clay is made of epoxy. Thanks for watching!
Does the micha powder come in different colors?

@@beadaholique so what do I use instead of the Micah powder. Can you find grommets and that kind of clay at a regular craft store

Is there a clear vision of the crystal clay?
