  • You've never made such tasty mac & cheese so fast. Great if your in a hurry or for a mid-week meal. You'll be proud to serve this to family and company! The recipe is below:
    My snail mail address is:
    Hands That Cook
    P. O. Box 44
    Choc, Al. 36254
    3 cups elbow macaroni
    2 cups chicken stock or broth
    1 cup water
    2 tblsp. butter or margarine
    2 tblsp. parmesan cheese
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/8 tsp. white pepper
    2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
    4 oz. processed cheese (like Velveeta)
    1 tsp. yellow mustard (optional)...you'll either love it or hate it!
    In your pressure cooker, add everything but the 2 cups of shredded cheese and the processed cheese.
    Set the pressure cooker to 15 psi (high) and the timer for 6 minutes. When the time is up, quick release the pressure. Add the remaining cheeses and stir till melted. If mac isn't "creamy" enough, I had very good results adding buttermilk until I got the consistency I wanted but you can use water. Enjoy!!

      Joyce Weaver Thank you for your reply. You CAN use metal if you don't use it like a backhoe!! I have no scratches on any of my non stick because I use care when using metal. I hope you try and enjoy this recipe and thank you for taking the time to watch and comment!!

    This recipe was my inspiration for finally purchasing an electric pressure cooker. I got the Aicok 7 in 1. I just made this recipe and it was perfect! I added a few stalks of fresh broccoli and it was delicious, kids inhaled it. All I have had up to now, is my classic Presto, same one for 35 years. Thank you!

    I'm back 4 years later to refresh my memory on this recipe. After looking around to see what other YT cooks are doing, I have to give my vote to yours as number 1. Over the years I have dressed it up occasionally. I use Knorr Chicken Tomato powdered broth to give it a little zing, add in green chilies, or some veggies like broccoli or green peas. This is a marvelous standby dish.Thank you Linda for all your great help.

    This recipe is amazing. It is a great base. I modify with adding campbells cheddar cheese soup instead of velveeta and add an extra cup of pasta noodles. I've made this a lot already and it will definitely be a go to for a fast dinner in the future.

    Came late to the table, but I have to say, we have the same pressure cooker. What I love about it, is it’s shape. I can cook a roast on its side, not on its end. Also, now I know I can double the recipe for a pot luck dinner. Thank you

    I really love her videos. I do my Mac and cheese in my pressure cooker too. I use Velveeta cheese but I put in the water or vegetable broth ( because I add hamburger to mine sometimes) I also cook the hamper first and drain the add the Mac and cheese and liquid all at the same time and it's done in 12 minutes. I love it. One pot and done!

    I tried this for the first time today in my old fashioned pressure cooker, and I loved it. My husband is not a macaroni and cheese fan, but I think if I add a little milk with the melting cheese, he will like the texture a little better. For me, the flavor was definitely superior to most versions.

    Ya, it's not like macaroni has any carbs....right? I think I'd rather have rice with the meat. Mac n' cheese is more a main course in my house. This is very fast. Instead of milk, try thinning it with sour cream. It gives it a richer flavor.

    I don't like that block artificial processed "cheese food" either. There are two things I use in place of it, mostly depending on my mood. lol Sometimes I chop up a block of cream cheese. That has the same consistency of that artificial cheese substitute. Other times I will just just throw in a few slices of my Kraft Deli sandwich slices if I have them. It has to be the DELI kind...(yes, more expensive but it's REAL cheese)! Both melt smoothly and helps your cheddar or other hard cheeses become creamy in your macaroni and cheese dishes. Since you like the sharp cheeses like I do, you'll like the cream cheese version which gives just a bit more bite for your buck! :)

    Thank you for the video!! Somehow I don't think this is the easiest or tastiest version of mac 'n cheese. I have made a very tasty mac 'n cheese by boiling noodles and doing the usual thing putting in chunks of Velveeta, some shredded cheddar, and sour cream, a little milk and heating it all up til warm and creamy.

PC's vary with the instructions. Actually a cup of rice could feed 4 if you're adding something on top of it...anything with rice is a good meal to me!!

    Can someone help me out. I have an electric slow cooker. The recipe says to cook for 6 minutes. is that after its reached pressure. Cause I put mine on and it spent 5 mins to reach pressure and then started the timer for 6 mins. Is this correct?

    • @Handsthatcook
      @Handsthatcook  8 лет назад

      +Madeline Jubb The "count down" on an electric pc starts when pressure is reached inside. Enter the amount of time to pressure when you lock the lid down and close the valve to the seal or air tight position. The time will automatically count itself down once the proper pressure is reached. Do NOT take the lid off until you've released all the pressure by moving the valve from seal or airtight to the steam position and all the steam has stopped coming out of that vent. I hope this helps!!

      @Handsthatcook  8 лет назад +1

      Patricia, the electric pc's have many safety features. They won't open at all if there's any steam left inside and you don't babysit them either. You set the time & when the time is up it automatically goes to keep warm....so you can go about your business and return to it when it's convenient for you. There is no need for fear anymore. You'll love the convenience and super tender meats you can pressure in less than half the time of conventional cooking. DON'T be afraid. I have 27 pressure cooked meals on my channel to help you.

    The banging on the rim of the cooker and the metal spoon in the cooker is killing me.
