Right now I am planning on retiring in three years early and transitioning to the van life. I was a truck diver (long distance) for five years and I have been in every state in the lower 48. Looking forward to doing it again!
Come see us in the Deep South with your southern accent. Lol! So excited when you post new videos. Stay safe and persevere the weather, Girl. What ever you are doing keep at it, you are looking great! Love to little Lilly!

Story Chasing it was so long ago probably my recollections wouldn’t be relevant. I still see the highlands and the heather when I close my eyes. We had great weather then in August but that was not normal. I also remember there weren’t very many vegetables in the restaurants and stores but the fish was so tasty. They had strange hours for restaurants and we were always missing meals.lol. It was our first big trip and we loved it.
A few years ago I was driving through Idaho and on the eastern side of the state I got caught in the worst storm I've been in. Massive wind gusts, golf ball sized hail, and lightning strikes so close i could feel the static charge in the air.
Our very first night out, we stopped in Sterling Colorado and stopped at the rest area to spend the night. Four hours after going to bed, we were awakened by the sound of rain and hail, rv was rocking with 60 MPH winds. We sustained roof damage and water poured into the RV via the light fixtures! My 17 yo son thought we were going to die.
Sheila Ritter Thank you for your sweet and kind comments and also sharing your story! It really means a lot to me. ♥️ Yikes that's crazy on the rain coming in. I'm sure that had to have been awful.
I thought of you today while driving to the mountains in Italy. I had left SS51 and was on SS49. It had HYMER in large letters on the tinted section of the front windshield. I'm in the South Tyrol for the next few days. There were a large number of RVs on the roads up here. A very confident group on these narrow and twisty roads.
I live on my rv in Denver and didn’t winterize the last 2 seasons.. pipes freeze for a day or 4 but then thaw .. I bought this old rv with multiple plumbing leaks but fixed them and they have been holding ..
I like the idea of installing a video camera on the dash to capture beautiful scenery as you pass since I have to concentrate on the road. I can watch it again and see what I missed as I drove. The Pass was gorgeous.

@@storychasing I could LOL, but honestly your content is so honest, I think it is the best part about your channel. I am new to your channel but I am wondering if you don't just get a lift kit for your rig and some suspension upgrades and carry on. As opposed to the truck camper.

We drove the Scottish NC500 last September - it was stunning! Most people do it "clockwise", but as the best scenery is on the west coast, I'd recommend an anti-clockwise route and save the best 'til last. Be aware - the roads are often single track with passing places.
My father inlaw snowbirds all winter in usa, he moves from one big RV resort to the next, something we really dont have here in Canada..I never see that on Vanlife channels, is that not an option for vans? costs a a bit but swimming pool, golf and happy hour.
Jay dubayou vanlifers tend to not stay in RV parks much because we just don't have to. Typically we're self contained and don't need hookups plus we can go just about anywhere and park and camp. 😊

The worst and scary the highway become a white blanket and I don’t know where is left or right....woman and a big truck pass and the path of the wheels help me to keep driving until the next exit.
I would imagine also that hail etc must be so stressful with fear of damage to the rig Do you have special insurance as coverage that puts you at ease?
I don’t like driving in the rain, but I HATE driving in the wind! My rig is over 13 feet tall and will rock and roll all over the road😬. I’ve made it to the Pacific Coast Highway! I start my journey north today!!! Safe travels, my friend 😎
My ex and I lived in Denver for more than a decade. We used to laugh at the weather. You could see sun, rain, hail, and snow in a single day. Crazy. ✌😷 I'm enjoying your journey.
Love rainy days & even thunderstorms! Not sure how much I would love them in a van though. I won't be shy if I ever see you. lol I won't knock on your door, but I will definitely come over to meet you & sweet Lily if I ever see you on the road. So glad I got my sweet Lily fix today! Love your videos as always Amber!
Hi, I have seen this video of you I mean I’ve seen that one before . It’s cool you’re a tiger! I live in Quebec (close to Montreal) here in the winters the law says that we have to have winter tires at a certain date! Winter tires are much safer, shorter breaking distance and safer driving. When I lived in British Columbia when ever it freezes (not often at all) you don’t want to be on the road just because nobody’s can drive in those conditions unless you lived in snowed weather. Anyway keep safe We Love you
I understand the concern about the weather but your on the road ! Pull over and embrace it instead of worrying about being soaked or hail find a car wash and duck in
I’ve been watching your videos and lots of other van life and schoolie videos. You have inspired me so much! I’m going through a divorce right now. We had been together since I was 15 and were living together as husband and wife since I was 17 years old. So 24 years together. I’ll be 40 in November. We have 4 teens. One is almost 19 and at her second year of University. Then my oldest son will be 17 is just about 3 weeks. My younger daughter is 16 and my youngest son is 13 years old. I’ve been a stay at home mom for nearly 20 years. I’ve been disabled for about the last 10 years or so. I have several genetic conditions that are unfortunately progressive and there isn’t a cure so it’s just treating symptoms as they come up and keeping me as pain free as possible. I found out 2 years ago he was having an affair. We had ended up deciding to work it out and continue to be a family. He was sleeping on the couch and we were working toward healing all the hurt he caused. It was truly awful, but we were really starting to get along. We had gone on family outings and he and I would do the 6 hour round trip drive to see our oldest at school every other month. We were planning a family vacation and I had already booked tickets. We were buying items for our home and then out of the blue he left in June. He said he was going to watch a pay perview fight at a friends and didn’t come back. A month later I found out he was cheating on me again. His very first time taking the kids out with out me he brought his affair along!! Who happens to be a convicted felon!!! So I’ve had to think a lot about what my life will look like as a single woman with adult children in just a few years, living off of spousal support and SSI. I’m really considering van or schoolie life. I have always wanted to travel, but due to my health and needing to lay down frequently it’s always seemed impossible. But if my home were always with me, I could take as many breaks as I need. I just don’t think I would financially be able to afford my current home, and all the up keep or to be able to clean it once the kids are all moved out. I have been thinking a lot about when it’s time, to sell my home or even rent it out and use the funds I will have hopefully saved in the next few years and have a schoolie or van built. I don’t need a lot of space. I think as the time gets closer I’ll be able to better determine which option will work best for me. I love the space a schoolie could give me. But I like the idea of a smaller van to be able to park say in one of my kids driveways and be able to visit with them and still have my own space. Seeing you living out your dream of travel and doing it all as a single woman in the same age group as me, really is inspiring me to take this more seriously. I’ve been thinking a lot about even purchasing the vehicle now and having work done on it as I have the funds. I’m trying to think of how I could possibly make an income as well. I love to craft, polymer clay art, beading, painting, crochet, I love it all and not to toot my horn, but I really am good at those things. I’ve thought about doing youtube. I just don’t know if I’m brave enough or if I have the skill set to make and edit videos. But again I’m truly inspired by your journey. Thank you so much for not only sharing the amazing aspects of van life, but also the realities and not so fun points too. I think a lot of the younger kids in their 20’s just portray their channels as it’s all rainbows and kittens. It’s good to know what it’s like being sick and traveling through snow and hail and parking you whole home and going grocery shopping. I can’t wait to see what adventure your on next!! Hopefully some day I’ll have my own tiny home on wheels and we will be able to meet. 💖
I love storms, I tend to grab the camera and photograph them. I can’t wait to RV overseas, New Zealand is my first stop, I have a family friend (I call her my aunt) that lives there.
AYJ Adventures I'm partial to them too from the stand point of capturing it, but I don't like the wind. That stuff can mess you up and your belongings! lol New Zealand would be cool too Maybe after COVID sadly.
When you were standing in front of the bakery there was a really creepy looking guy wearing a mask standing right behind you. Did you notice him? Do you ever get scared?
Bling Bling The BS OF THE ISS 😀 yes. He was just another customer. Probably looks scary because we area all wearing masks lol. Not usually, but I take a lot precautions to stay safe. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Sharon Anspach 😀 LOL...used to I might have turned my nose up at it. I mean I live with dust constantly blowing in the van, getting dirty, dealing with my own sewage, moving around to different campsites etc, but it's the beauty and thrill that makes it all worth it. I'm just used to it now. :)
Those roads on the BLM and side roads in the National Parks are called unimproved. Took a lot of them in Utah last year especially in Canyon Lands. They can get pretty washboarded out. High winds pulling a camper or in a van can make you draw up.
Story Chasing I have a 16 foot Cherokee Wolf Pup. Perfect for me and the wife. We pulled it from SC to Utah and back last September. Stayed there a month saw the mighty five and petrified forrest, meteor crater, newspaper rock,Bridges, monument valley and four corners. We ran into some high winds in New Mexico thought I was going to have to surgically remove the Tundras seats from my a$$. 😂😂😂😂. All in all best trip I’ve ever had.
Thank you. That would be cool. Seems like there are quite a few of you from Scotland and Wales who’ve reached out. I suddenly have this viewer base in the U.K. lol. Have you been on the Northcoast 500 yet?
Hi,,,I didn't read all the post 2 C if any1 said anything 2 U about a sound that I thought I heard in the clip from 10: 42- 10: 49 sounds like a wheel bearing or something,,,& I don't think it's the off road tires it looks like u have,,,U can look at the wheel bearing your self if U have a jack to change tire,,,or it could be a separated tire ,,with the tires you look for rips,,,& 2 look 2 C if bearing R starting 2 go out,,,jack up safely ,& then with it high enough to spin wheel turn back and forth all around to feel binding or like sand in it, or smooth,,make notes ,,safety hold wheel at 3 & 9 position & pull 2 U from right to left side & feel if anything is loose or has slack in the components moving wheel right to left.,, then finally hold tire at 12 & 6 : 30 o'clock position see again what's going on,, [ dont put finger under tire, off to side if it falls it dont smash U ] If u find one that has a grinding or loose take to shop to repair for you,,, And for tires look in tread areas mostly but look over completely.... or go to trusted tire shop and they can inspect it all and most at no charge,,, but even a alignment charge and service will cover all that and point out also. Probably nothing but,, going off road this will be something you will need to get familiar with,,,and the more you know going into a shop,,less likely they will over charge you Keep being blessed & having fun " Jes-Se- Out-&-Into- The- Real " "Jes-Se- R- U- I- Z 👁" Jesse Ruiz
Oh and this is same if you get that truck camper...I am sold,,,59,000 for that one you showed ,,,I think it's best to get correct size truck and I believe the f350 or 3500 dodge is to light,,,best would be the 5500 or F550 ,, the payload gos from the F350 of about 9000-11,000 pound to the F550 is like 29,000 pounds, ,I did see a review between GM Dodge And Ford,,, new all around 77,000 now,,,but good used service truck 4x4 diesel $20- $ 30,000... 4 low miles ...thank U 4 insight " Jes-Se- Out-&-Into- The- Real " "Jes-Se- R- U- I- Z 👁" Jesse Ruiz

The worst and scary the highway become a white blanket and I don’t know where is left or right....woman and a big truck pass and the path of the wheels help me to keep driving until the next exit.
carjack69 😀 Wow that can be scary for sure. Glad you got through it!
Campervan is my dream but it will possible or not i am not sure I always visit your site and extremely like God bless you lady
Awesome video
Glad you enjoyed it
Would a small class c motor home make it though those roads?
Warren’s Corner oh yes. I've seen every rig imaginable here...even a Prevost bus.
Beautiful video:)
When you head to Scotland do you plan to ship your rig?
Most likely. I’d like to travel to many places around there
I would imagine also that hail etc must be so stressful with fear of damage to the rig
Do you have special insurance as coverage that puts you at ease?
How many days did that storm system go on? Pretty freaky. Hope you made it out safely.
A week roughly.
Seems to come on in the afternoon.
I don’t like driving in the rain, but I HATE driving in the wind! My rig is over 13 feet tall and will rock and roll all over the road😬.
I’ve made it to the Pacific Coast Highway! I start my journey north today!!!
Safe travels, my friend 😎
Trish Mince 😀 Super cool Trish! I'm thrilled for you. That drive is incredible too on the PCH.
My ex and I lived in Denver for more than a decade. We used to laugh at the weather. You could see sun, rain, hail, and snow in a single day. Crazy. ✌😷 I'm enjoying your journey.
Lol it’s so true. Can be really volatile.
I love your videos they are so beautiful and well done
Thank you so much! You are seriously kind.
Love your RV living video. I am looking to to venture out in my Prius. Google living in my Prius to see some of what I am wanting to do.
Best of luck!
Sandra Poteete You better!!!!! lol
Story Chasing I will. lol Just saw that you hit 25K subscribers. Whoo hoo! That’s awesome! So happy for you! Way to go Amber!!!!
Hi, I have seen this video of you
I mean I’ve seen that one before .
Anyway keep safe
We Love you
Thanks so much Gilles. ☺️
I have a friend who had to get multiple panels replaced on her Subaru due to hail damage in Colorado. Yikes!
Doug F yikes hail damage is no joke!!!!
I understand the concern about the weather but your on the road ! Pull over and embrace it instead of worrying about being soaked or hail find a car wash and duck in
Welcome to Colorado, Those were just baby storms. LOL
Rita Ledbetter 😀 Oh my!!!!! The other day the lightening was literally across the tree line. Scared me to death. Shook the whole van.
Who's the yellow shirt guy in bakery window reflection?
michelle Another visitor in line behind me. Nope not a boyfriend. lol
Have fun and take care and take it easy
David Sager Thanks so much! ☺️
I was in Colorado this time last year and everyday between 4-6pm it hailed it was the craziest thing :)
Roxie OMG.....it's so true...and rain and wind!
Would love to meet you someday. Looks like you know that area very well.
Brother in a RV Roger Brown Thanks so much! ☺️ It's a sweet area. Love the life in Salida, CO.
I live in Florida this is summer for us. I love the storms.
Scarlett Moon 😀
Very cool having weather....Colorado is the best. Out here in so cal it's getting toasty. So be safe and stay healthy.
Bradley Conners Thanks so much! ☺️ Oh yeah it can warm up out there. Can you get to the coast quickly from where you're at?
@@storychasing it takes about an hour, but traffic is always gnarly....sometimes two hours to make it home with cuckoos driving insane.
Can you share artist who sang I was made to fall in love with you? Beautiful film of red rocks! Stay safe 🏔
Lorene Noe Such a good song right? It's called Made to Fall in Love with You by Michael Shynes.
Oh yes..I did see the offer for your music but can not afford it. Thanks for sharing! 🌹
You’re so welcome.
Wait, it's June! Oh right - it's Utah & Colorado, so weather can do anything. Stay safe in the beautiful west!
Shari McTiver 😀
Funny to hear you saying "outrun the weather". 🌍 Great music❤
Anne Pasek hahaha
That little town with the bakery was cute! I love the sound of rain lol I would’ve took a nap and slept right through that!!! Keep up the great videos
Camper MENTALity Thank you so much for your kind comments.
Mee too!
Praying for your safety 🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️
aGz Memz Thanks so much! ☺️
I give you so much credit living in environments like this
Sharon Anspach 😀 LOL...used to I might have turned my nose up at it. I mean I live with dust constantly blowing in the van, getting dirty, dealing with my own sewage, moving around to different campsites etc, but it's the beauty and thrill that makes it all worth it. I'm just used to it now. :)
@@storychasing it certainly creates great memories :)
Colorado hail can get nasty, but the scenery is amazing!
Apparently. Lol. I had no idea.
Did you try iodine nascent?
I’m not sure what that is?
I love the Salida and Buena Vista areas. I miss Colorado all the time.
pugluvnapril Did you live here or just visit often? ☺️
Story Chasing I used to live just north of Denver for 3.5 years. I just moved away in Dec 2019. Not because I wanted to, though.
My Brother lives in Grand Junction. Great place
Michelle Collins 😀 Super cool place. I'd like to explore more. Do you get there much?
@@storychasing no we dont. I take care and live with my Mom. We've only been there 1x. The way you live. I love it. But I cant leave my Mom.
Love your videos very inspiring
Jim Cooper Thanks so much! ☺️
Those roads on the BLM and side roads in the National Parks are called unimproved. Took a lot of them in Utah last year especially in Canyon Lands. They can get pretty washboarded out. High winds pulling a camper or in a van can make you draw up.
Danny Burrell thanks for that..Yes unimproved is correct. What kind of rig do you have?
Story Chasing I have a 16 foot Cherokee Wolf Pup. Perfect for me and the wife. We pulled it from SC to Utah and back last September. Stayed there a month saw the mighty five and petrified forrest, meteor crater, newspaper rock,Bridges, monument valley and four corners. We ran into some high winds in New Mexico thought I was going to have to surgically remove the Tundras seats from my a$$. 😂😂😂😂. All in all best trip I’ve ever had.
Very beautiful Colorado
Tenacious Terri Thanks so much! ☺️
Beautiful views.
It really is!
That was crazy weather👍🏻
Memaw's Matters seriously it was crazy with some flooding on the BLM land in areas.
Rough weather ain't no joke
Beach3Girl 😀 You've got that right.
In india these types of roads are normal
If you come to Scotland gives us a shout we live here and have a motor home we could tag along.
Thank you. That would be cool. Seems like there are quite a few of you from Scotland and Wales who’ve reached out. I suddenly have this viewer base in the U.K. lol. Have you been on the Northcoast 500 yet?
@@storychasing yes done it a few times.
The scenery is fantastic and the food and whisky is magic.
just need to erase cv19 now 😴. Happy camping.
Grand Juction my home base sorry I missed you
Oh I see this was a year ago, my bad. Lol
If your story is chasing rain, by joe, I think you've got it!
Bert Kelly hehe...Well I guess rain is the story right? 😜
You have a beautiful country 🙏
Thank you!
Maybe not so long of storm, ouch
Tenacious Terri 😀
I know exactly what that feels like on a rocky rutted road!! Yikes!
Ann Maes WELCOME and thank you for subscribing!!! Oh yeah it can be crazy things jostling around everywhere.
Looking good girl, yrs if you come to Scotland i`ll buy you a hawf.
James Mackay why thank you. What's a hawf?
@@storychasing A hawf is a glass of whisky.
I love your hair cut
Tenacious Terri Thanks so much! ☺️
I love storms
Tenacious Terri 😀 I love the sound of the rain on my van roof, but I don't care for it blowing me around too much .
Hi,,,I didn't read all the post 2 C if any1 said anything 2 U about a sound that I thought I heard in the clip from 10: 42- 10: 49 sounds like a wheel bearing or something,,,& I don't think it's the off road tires it looks like u have,,,U can look at the wheel bearing your self if U have a jack to change tire,,,or it could be a separated tire ,,with the tires you look for rips,,,& 2 look 2 C if bearing R starting 2 go out,,,jack up safely ,& then with it high enough to spin wheel turn back and forth all around to feel binding or like sand in it, or smooth,,make notes ,,safety hold wheel at 3 & 9 position & pull 2 U from right to left side & feel if anything is loose or has slack in the components moving wheel right to left.,, then finally hold tire at 12 & 6 : 30 o'clock position see again what's going on,, [ dont put finger under tire, off to side if it falls it dont smash U ] If u find one that has a grinding or loose take to shop to repair for you,,,
And for tires look in tread areas mostly but look over completely.... or go to trusted tire shop and they can inspect it all and most at no charge,,, but even a alignment charge and service will cover all that and point out also. Probably nothing but,, going off road this will be something you will need to get familiar with,,,and the more you know going into a shop,,less likely they will over charge you
Keep being blessed & having fun

Jesse Ruiz Thanks so much! ☺️
Jesse Ruiz Thanks so much! ☺️ yes correct size for the camper is a must. So many are overweight with these campers.
