Do you know by any chance if there are other channels that show similar properties but in other countries in europe (Italy, Germany, Austria or so)?
There are quite a few ubex channels, but don’t know of any real estate ones.
Hi Dan - this series on chateaux and quirky alternatives is really fascinating, many thanks! What is the reason why French estate agents don't provide floorplans or give exact locations of properties? It's beyond frustrating! I was looking at a chateau last year and eventually gave up after the agent had no floor plans and refused to tell me the nearest town/village unless I provided a scan of my passport and signed a document agreeing to view the property. I kept trying to explain that I was in the UK and I had no intention of planning a trip to France without first knowing the location of the property, but we just kept going round in circles until eventually I decided it was too much trouble! Then the agent got really sniffy when I emailed to say that I was no longer interested. Surely French agents must be aware that overseas buyers expect much more than they currently offer??
Hi @thetragicyouth (great name btw), in my honest opinion, it isn't really the agents fault, its the fault of the system that made them like that, but the French don't like to change their ways! On the floor plan side, French business try to do as much as possible themselves, as the social charges system makes it expensivewhen you bring in a third party, this has lead to them actually doing less. Then on the address side, it is the legal side, that for years, agents weren't allowed to differentiate betwen sole agency and open contracts, except the "exclusive side", thus every thing was open mandats, and thus the agents got paranoid about a buyer going behind their back, or via another agent (don't forget we don't have a common file agreement here), that also why they do few photos. SAYING ALL THAT, things are changing now (slowly) with agents like ourselves trying to bring French real estate at least into the 20th century!

I enjoy looking at the beautiful buildings you feature but ask that you please slow down when you scroll through the photos. Sometimes you fly through them so fast, it nearly causes motion sickness. Plus it’s nice to get a good look at the architectural details. Thank you for considering my request.
Hi there Mary Ann, sorry about that, it’s the speed I work at. What’s more, these are properties that are on the market with other agents, and in France there isn’t a common file policy, so I dont want to push them too much. Last case scenario, there is always the pause button.

You just push the pause button and you can really get a good look longer if you would like.
I use pause as well, because I really want to study the picture of the ones I am interested in. (Not that I can buy any right now, or even move to France😢)
I live in the United States, but to me French architecture is one of the most amazing things in the world and I just love the history of it as well.

I think you mean the abandoned one, I will do my best, but French agents are very protective!!
