PS5 Pro being digital ONLY is a red flag. Do NOT support this, people! Make Sony put a disk drive on the machine. At no extra cost. This ver. of the Pro sucks!
In the end, Satoru Iwata was right. Graphics and power don’t mean anything. Why would you buy a ps5 pro which gives you slightly better graphics and frame rate. Gaming should focus on delivering fun experiences rather than power
graphics do matter too ofcourse but should not be the main focus nr1 priority should be is the game fun then add better graphics to enhance the immersion
@@AndersonTenecela yup totally thats why i emulate switch games on beast pc on 4k 60fps graphics pokemon scarlet etc are way more fun to play like that then on laggy switch
The funniest thing is, that hardcore Playstation fanboys always say that people buy Nintendo no matter how bad it is but in reality Playstation has the most loyal fanbase. Sony doing 2 years of nearly nothing and the PS5 pro is the icing on the cake... people will probably still buy it big-time.
PS4: everything will be 60fps, trust me bro. PS4 PRO: this time everything will be 60fps for sure. PS5: I know I lied before, but this time I promise... PS5 PRO: look at the size of my chips, you really doubt everything will run at 60? I'm telling you every digital game will run at 60fps.
Not really… look at Tesla. I can stand Elon Musk, but I accumulated at the low $30’s due to its potential and rode it all the way to a 350-400 billion market valuation before selling for some profits. As an equities investor, so long as I benefit financially, I’m good. Sony, in spite of all the so called “backlash” are holding up decently well all things considering in an investment sense.
Nobody has to buy one of these things, so if the value proposition is bad, it simply wont sell. I would be curious to know what sales expectations is for this model? 10-20 million units throughout its lifetime?
@@mikestockdale808if these fools won't say no to $3500 graphics cards I don't think they'll say no to anything. As long as 25-30% of consumers are dumb enough to pay 5x what something could be profitably and reasonably sold at then they win.
Sony really got out here at 11am, hyped up their overpriced console, threw around a bunch of tech bro terms, gassed up their footage as a huge upgrade to the base PS5, _and then proceeded to show almost just cinematic cutscenes of already released games..._
Welcome to inflation gamers, the price of the PS5 controller also just went up on price, this will be the new normal, not even Nintendo is inmiune to inflation, the price of new tech will be higher, I expect the Switch 2 to be at least $400 to $500, the days of $300 and $500 consoles are gone.
Don’t forget $80 a month for PS+ just to play online. And that is if Sony doesnt jack the price up to $100. They already jacked the price up on the controllers to $75.
@@GemsofEarth Yeah $80 a year. Which is alot at this point. So thats $700 + $80 for disk drive + $80 a year. So after 5 years (Full life span) thats $1200. @@GemsofEarth Once my PS+ expires in November i'm not renewing it. I will use my PS5 for only first party single player games. Even then they are coming out on PC. Which is where I'll do most of my gaming. AS well as my Switch and later Switch 2.
Couldn't agree more. Any rebuttal I come across in terms of defending this business practice has almost exclusively attacked PC and Xbox as their main counter point. When this CLEARLY surpasses the console war. This surpasses the master race conversation. This will affect EVERYONE. The second Sony sees this price as a viable and profitable decision, then the rest of the industry will follow. Anti-consumer practices should never be championed or endorsed.
Feels weird that we might be seeing 2 out of 3 gaming markets go under. What the hell is going on with gaming? Somehow only Nintendo seems to have found the recipe for success. Beyond insane that Sony CEOs thought a disc-less $700 console was marketable.

We go from the biggest failures of gaming history in concord to a big success with astro bot to a 700 dollar/800 euro console disaster. Nintendo wins by doing absolutely nothing

Idk why everyone is over reacting, is a PRO model, not next Gen, you don't NEED to get it, you don't NEED to upgrade. The PS4 pro was only 20% of PS4 sales. I really don't understand why most of you who already have a PS5 are sheerking "it's not worth the upgrade over what I already have!!!" Like stop the main character syndrome, not every product is suppose to be geared towards you, this is for new buyers and PC players who wanna play PS exclusives without compromising too much on their PC's quality.
You guys do realize that tax on $700 is not minimal amount. In Canada this thing is gonna cost $959 before tax. $100 for the disc drive. $1200 for a console....
All the games they showcased already run at 4k 60fps, this showcase was a disaster. They gave people no reason to buy this. It could have cost $450 and i still see no reason to buy it, they showed NOTHING
Remember when PS2 was the cheapest DVD player and the console with the most badass exclusives like Devil May Cry, Ico, Silent Hill 2 only like a year after launch? (PS. Sorry for the bad clarification I know those games came like a year after, what I meant is it only took a year for PS2 to built a library of some of the best games of all time)
Remember when PS1 completely dominated the industry because Sony finally got 3D right? Remember when Sony was actually Japanese and wanted to give players awesome and affordable games and consoles? 😢
See the thing I hate about such companies once they reveal a new device they start to put dirt on their past device Sony did the same thing showing the last of us 2 on original ps5 But downgraded and showed it Better on ps5 pro That was intentionally done The original ps5 is still a powerful console and the last of us or other games still looking great on it Once you save up money to buy that current console by that time they'll release a new one And will start to put trash on the console that you've bought In my opinion it's better to stuck with ps5 and upgrade to ps6 when it's out but for now I'll forget everything and enjoy my ps5 spider man 2 limited edition
My first console was NES, but I haven't been a Nintendo fan since GameCube. Rarely touched my Wii. Have been a loyal Sony fan since PS1 and these days I play my switch more than my PC OR PS5. I guess we've come full circle.
They did with the PS4 but the people that were there during PS3 days are no longer running the company and the new guys either don't know or remember anything about the PS3 era

It's disappointing. I'm definitely skipping and consider changing the team, depending if Xbox are still invested in physical media.
The Switch 2 will likely come in at 400 EUR / $350 so you'll literally be able to buy two Switch 2 plus two copies of Mario Kart AND an online subscription. So you can play with your kids. For the price of a PS5 Pro, plus you don't need to buy a TV.
I mean it's absolutely true Sony and Microsoft are pratically begging for Nintendo to come punch them in the face so hard that everything bleeds in one hit.
This whole generation has been a scam. You buy a new generation console to take advantage of it, not to be sold an upgrade later. You are not even taking advantage of the base console.
Thank you! Remember when we could buy a console... and that was that? No need to worry about "mid-cycle" refreshes. We were locked in and good to go for years until the next generation. Now there's all this anxiety surrounding systems. "Do I buy this now? What if an upgraded version arrives later? Do I wait? Do I act?" It never used to be so needlessly complicated.
This is definitely the worse generation of gaming. An entire generation of broken games. An entire generation of live service gambling programs made to look like video games. Over priced hardware with zero price drops. Prices going up. And now this as the final nail in the coffin.
Literally, go to Opencritic and look at the top 20 games of all time for PS5. There is 2 from 2022 (cross gen), 1 from 2024 (multi plat), 3 from 2024 (1 DLC cross gen and 2 only for PS5). If we go down to the next 20, there are more cross gen an only 1 for PS5 only, Tekken 8. There is really no need for a PS5 Pro, they just needed to be more efficient with the base console. What the PS5 Pro is telling me is that they are just about to start milking the PS5 base console just because they need to have does games run at fidelity 60FPS.
I'm a Canadian Switch owner. Just this weekend my brother and I were in Gamestop (ugh) so he could pick up his Miles Edgeworth pre-order. I saw a stack of PS VR2 boxes and observed to him that if I wanted to get into that it would cost like $1500 to get both the system and VR. Do that with a PS5 Pro, with the physical disc add on, and we're getting close to $2000 CAD. That's just absurd. This is a product for the wealthy, plain and simple.
$900 dollars for PS5 Pro with disc drive and vertical stand after taxes... How much closer do we have to get to PC prices before it just makes sense to go the extra price route and buy a PC. probably will save people in the long run, $1400 for a modern PC with a NVMe drive and RTX4070 that can play everything the PS5 Pro plays, better. And has the option for upgradability rather than 1k for the next gen PS6. Think I'll stick to my Switch and PC setup.
Don't forget that PCs can emulate every single console up to and including most 8th gen consoles, with the entire libraries of all those consoles available online for free. With more and more ps5 exclusives coming to PC, it just seems foolish to buy a ps5 over a PC now.
$900 dollars is already above the price of a mid range system.... 1400 dollars for the system that you are talking about is overpriced nonsense, that is a system with 4070 super at best buy...

This is where chasing higher fidelity leads to in the industry. This industry is f*cked. Prices going up instead of going down and you're getting way less value. The death of physical media gets ever so closer. Big budget games failing expectations. Live service saturation. More studios dropping like flies and people losing their jobs. But please ignore all of that, we have world premieres from Geoff Keighley at the game awards to make up for it!
This is your brain on consoles... and it isn't pretty. None of your "consequences" has anything to do with "chasing higher fidelity." Why are so many console people so slow? Big budget games didn't fail because they had good graphics it is because the devs made crap games that often focus on trying to push messages instead of just pushing good gameplay. Live service saturation tells you the problem in the name, there are too many of those games and/or people are tired of the genre not that they were going after good graphics and people rejected it. Chasing graphics hasn't led to studios closing it is the above issues I stated and others that you are clearly to slow to understand even if I explained them. +enriquepinero Nintendo always knew these outsiders would eventually hoist themselves by their own petard. They just had to wait & be patient as the outsiders' propaganda wore off & their practices were laid bare. Nintendo planned for the end of the Console Wars as far back as the 7th Generation with DS & Wii. Go back & see how they plotted a long term plan to make themselves immune from the insanity we see today. No one can beat Nintendo in Game Craft, Game Design. So they have to razzle-dazzle with Tech Hype. Once the Tech Hype wears off, Nintendo knows they got 'em pinned & they go in for the kill. Wii U & 3DS was supposed to complete the Wii & DS mission but Mobile threw off Nintendo's focus & it stalled. Once Nintendo was able to course correct with Switch, they would end the Console Wars for good as intended. When Nintendo ends the War, all games revert to their platform cancelling the one key advantage the competition had on Nintendo: Control of the Bulk of 3rd Party Games. The equation goes like this: 1st Party + 2nd Party + 3rd Party = Nintendo's Party. Nintendo Exclusives + Everything Else = Nintendo's Permanent Dominance. Wait until you see what happens when they somehow make a port of Grand Theft Auto VI on Nintendo's platform.
@johnlucas1543 100% accurate and well said. I only started noticing this since the launch trailer of the Switch and how shortly before Microsoft started adding DRM to their PC games, shortly after their always online Xbox ONE launch failed (but really postponed, as cloud streaming and always online gaming was always their goal). Sony and Microsoft were never gaming companies; they were tech/electronic/multimedia companies that wanted to try their hand in milking the gaming space. Now that they got as much as they cpild get; their gaming divisions could easily tank and they still have their other sides of business to fall back on. Nintendo on the other hand is a gaming company first and everything else second, which is why they still gonna be around for longer than the other two. Valve and Steam are also gonna stand the test of time as well.
@@enriquepinero707 I view Microsoft as even worse than Sony even though both are outsiders. At least Sony has some sense of taste with their lengthy background in the music & movie industries. Microsoft is the reason why there is even such a thing as Paid Online in videogaming. Online's supposed to be FREE & stupid Microsoft normalized monetizing it. We already pay for internet service so why pay twice to game on the internet? Microsoft started that crap. Sony followed them during the PS3 era despite starting as free. Nintendo resisted until the public disrespected the efforts done on Wii U so Nintendo said 'well this is what the people want, give it to them.' At least they're the lowest of the three but none of that should exist. But thankfully Microsoft is so rich that they really don't know how to compete. They don't have to really work for anything so they're soft & sloppy running a business. We should be GLAD they failed & crashed out of the Console Business with XBox. If Trillion-Dollar Microsoft was actually competent, we all would be in a world of trouble right now. AND Microsoft provided the perfect distraction to dislodge Sony & allow Nintendo to roll back PlayStation's influence in the industry. Made Sony play a self-destructive game of Chicken with them. Haughty Sony thought they were actually The Boss & chased down Money Microsoft. But a Trillion-Dollar company will beat a Billion-Dollar company all day every day head-to-head. So Sony realized too late how futile it was to play this deadly game & now they're painted into a corner. Nintendo saw Microsoft coming as far back as at least 1996 before the launch of the Nintendo 64. Look online & you'll find pictures of Bill Gates hanging out with old Nintendo President Hiroshi Yamauchi. He was trying enact the Embrace part of Microsoft's Embrace, Extend, Extinguish corporate strategy. He was trying to get Nintendo to sell to Microsoft or partner with Microsoft in some way. You'll find a picture of Hiroshi Yamauchi & Bill Gates playing a game of Go, a game Yamauchi mastered. I think of that pic everytime I remember Nintendo laughing at Microsoft for wanting to buy them. Hiroshi Yamauchi let Bill Gates think he had a chance to win on that Go board AND in that board room. It's not just Satoru Iwata who saw this train wreck coming, the whole company had this mindset. Yamauchi talked about a lot what was coming in the late 1990s! Nintendo knew where this was all going. And now they stand to benefit from all of their vision/insight, strategies, & preparations. When it comes to Nintendo, a 135 year old company, always remember that they play the LONG GAME. Ask Pocket Pair & Palworld about it right now.

Seems like because Concord died, Sony is trying to recoup their loss by having physical owners buy a disk drive plus the price jump for this ‘’upgraded” console. If that ends up being the case, then this situation is worse as it was their fault for Concord dying and the consumer shouldn’t be punished.

Its a push on corporation to move to a service model where you will not own video games, music cd's and movies. The WEF said you will own nothing and be happy. The next push on the consumer will be not to own the console but to rent it.
So let me get this right. No disc drive in the box and ONLY available as an option which ALSO has to be physically registered to your console via the Internet, no vertical stand and AGAIN is only available as an option (I don't personally use it, but power to those who do), STILL no full backwards compatibility, and Sony STILL wants to charge over $1000 (in Australia)? For over $1000, as PlayerEssence said it SHOULD HAVE come with both the disc drive ON THE CONSOLE, and the vertical stand in the box.
Definitely not worth the price increase and ps5 shouldn't have been released if we need a pro console this soon. I'm glad I have a 4070ti super no need for a ps5 pro 😂
@NaikoArt idk about that cuz we would literally have to call the last two generations of pc hardware a scam since it was all over priced literally the switch and series s was the only properly priced items
Sony promised ps4 pro could do 4k 60fps but in reality that really didn't happen. Then they promised ps5 would be capable of 4k 120fps and even had 8k on the box of the console. People went out and spent alot of money on new hdmi 2.1 compliant tv or monitors inorder to achieve the 4k 120fps that like the ps4 pro has not been able to achieve that with the exception of a few games. Now we have the ps5 pro where there is no mention of the 120fps but have given tech demos now showing games running in 8k ! If i were a lawyer i would love to find out if sony could be sued. It is law that if you buy a product that can't do what the manufacturer claims that is misrepresentation ! Why do sony just think they can get away with it. Sony claiming the ps5 pro offers increased fidelity is putely subjective and has many variables not least the quality of the display you would be playing it on. I believe that is why sony have changed tact as now their claims could be dismissed in a court of law. I am so glad i didn't buy into the whole next gen gaming ! What was it the advert sony did for playstation 4 ah yes it's for the players. In my opinion ps5 pro is for sony profit. Gamers are just cash cows and it will get to the point where download only will be the gaming experience where sony not only control the price of games but will unfoubtably also become a online experience that sony control when a game is no longer playable. Sorry for the rant !
A PC is much better than a PS5 Pro. You can play most games on PC in 4K 60fps, PC games are also way cheaper & purchasing a PC is a long term investment. A PC is more than just a gaming console. You can edit videos, make music, work on your PC, it’s a webcam/social machine & literally so much more. You’re thinking about JUST playing games, which is a linear way of thinking. This is from a company like Sony that has never shown they even care about their customers not counting most people including their fanbase are affected by our current economy but Sony can care less but spend your food money if you will. It’s your right to buy a ps5 pro over a house lol.
Well considering the iPhone 16 pro Max is $1200 (which I will not be buying) and most of my friends are getting one, $800 subtract what they will give me on a trade in with the OG PS5 I could be at 5 something
I think it's over. Nintendo will clean up soon. Portable console at PS4 Pro plus level, first party games, full third party support now, best console for local play and fully portable too? Sony releasing games like Concorde and trying to rob people with a pro console with hardly any games years in? Xbox and done and Sony to follow. And with Nintendo being able to run all games apart from Sony exclusives on Switch 2 plus the entire back library it's a slam dunk.
I got my ps5 slim (with physical drive) with 2 controllers and a free copy of Spider-Man 2 for only 575$ I cannot imagine spending 700+ just for better graphics ill barely notice and better fps
Sony just released their best rated PS5 exclusive a week ago and that game doesn't need bleeding edge technology and advanced "AI upscaling" to look and play great and be fun. It's like they couldn't have picked a worse time to try and advertise this new console.
$700 for slightly better graphics. It’s an overpriced brick if it can’t play my physical games. They should have found a way for customers to download the digital copy of your physical games. I love my PS5, but Nintendo is about to wipe the floor again. Devs just need to optimize their games better.
I legit don't see the value in it at all. PS4 Pro was able to push "4K" as it's easy to market gimmick, and 4K was indeed on the rise, so the PS4 Pro made some degree of sense. Even then, I personally saw it as not worth it due to it being pretty late into the PS4's life, I believed at the time saving your money for the eventual PS5 would be the smarter choice than upgrading to a PS4 Pro. The PS5 Pro feels like an even worse value because on top of being more expensive, it took AWAY features. Say what you will about the PS4 Pro, it was nothing but improvements. The PS5 Pro has drawbacks, what sense does that make?
What's really messed up is if they included the disk drive and the stand at that price most people wouldn't be to upset about it but at $700 b4 a $80 disk drive and a $30 stand and no ps plus membership and no games man WTF was they thinking
I like the Pro. Mark Cerny is a genius. The console is going to be amazing just like his last Pro. If you don’t like it that’s to bad Sony has a console for you and it’s called PS5.
Considering you can build a brand new PC with all new parts for about 750$ with a Ryzen 5 3600 and a RTX 4060 or 4060TI for that price that's ridiculous. With frame generation and DLSS it will probably outperform the PS5 pro too most likely which is just unheard of. Consoles are finally around the price of lower end PCs now which is just wild to think about.
Technology is advancing but at a much slower pace. An extra $300 simply doesn't get you a significant upgrade these days. Its going to make it difficult for Sony to offer a PS6 in the next 4-5 years that offers a significant upgrade over the PS5 Pro and still target a $500 launch price. We might see this generation last over a decade because of this.
Times is hard and I haven't been able to get a PS5 yet I'm still with my PS4 but for $700 I would rather just wait for PS6 and hopefully times become a little more comfortable to deal with.
AMEN

People are stupid. If no one bought the Ps4 pro then this money grabbing scam of releasing a pro version of the console after 4 years this would not have happend in the first place.

In Canada, if you add the disc drive and stand, it's over $1,000.😬
They should make more games instead of asking $700 for a digital box.
They should be able to at least put 2 or 3 games out for year if Nintendo can put out 6+ games out for year.

@@mitch20003 but I can justify to buy a expensive PC, it is a multi purpose tool, PS5 pro is just an entertaining plastic box.
Also you can play most of the games on an cheaper PC using low settings.
Does people really need better graphics that badly? A raise of $300 for a marginal upgrade, while there are still a significant portion of users on PS4. PC gamers too, look at steam statistics, most of them are not using the best graphics cards.
People want cheap and fun entertaining more than edge graphics. I'm still having more fun with my switch than with my PS5. Why I would expend so much to have it on the shelf, power off and collecting dust most of the time?
Remember the 299 moment? Even when we were still on the tech infancy, people did care about price, yes better graphics are good but there is a balance.
$700 more like $800 for me, is too much just to play games. I know there is a market for top graphics, but they aren't the large consumer public and with the escalation in price even this market will eventually shrink.
@@mitch20003 No a PC setup isn't thousands. Pull your head out console fanboi and stop trying to gaslight yourself into believing that you are saving money. 3 important steps of gaming 🤔
1. Gameplay 🫡
2. Story 🫡
3. Graphics 😒
In that order 🙂↕️
No one likes graphics anymore?
Whats scary is that the writing is on the wall for whenever they decide to show the PS6. All degitial, priced at 600 or 700.
"I Cobra Kai-kicked my PS5" is the funniest thing I've heard this month.
Well PS3 Sony are back😩 seriously they are taking the piss with those prices, they’ve become the Apple of consoles
You ignored everything and inserted your own made up reality of cope and doubling down on your feelings based nonsense, Im sure other slow people like you will do the same.
$700 for a digital-only game console? That's TOO mucH!
Ps5 pro is not worth it
As someone who play on a playstation 5 console almost exclusively, I can say that this is a terrible move on Sony's part. I live in Canada so the $700 price is actually $950 before tax. If they said it was 73% more powerful than the standard ps5 that I already own, that would POSSIBLY worth it but probably not. Sony deserves to be laughed at for this
My pc is $700 and I can still play all the ported PS5 games on top of all the steam library plus all emulator.
I don't get paying $700 for essentially is just a shader😂😂
You say people say a $700 PC isn't the same value, but you can buy prebuilds with an rtx 4060 for ~$800-900, which should be roughly approximate to this and has no $160 yearly fee for connecting to the internet nor do you need to buy an $80 physical drive to play games you already own. Still no physical games though :(
Ain't nobody better at finessing consumers more than PlayStation. $700 for a digital only PS4 pro pro pro, $80 for a disk drive, $30 for a console stand and that's before tax. This might be the biggest finesse in gaming history.
And you still need to pay for games and online. $1000 for 1 game.
It is just like apple. They get a group of people that think that owning the thing makes them better people and then after that they can just milk the dummies.
@@UltraBall23 Not how reality works. This is the same type of cope that console fanbois use when they tell themselves that PCs cost many thousands of dollars and how they are really saving money and being more intelligent by buying consoles.
With all the accessories + ps5 pro you can make a 6750 XT, used 6800 or 3070 build that’s faster than ps5 pro for around $800. Some games may be more optimized, but most of the time those cards will outperform a ps5 pro. Plus the ps5 pro has a weak cpu
Indeed even a 200 dollar Ryzen 5 six core cpu is enough for even a RTX 4090!

You have officially overstayed your presence (along with Microsoft) in the gaming industry. On the plus side; this makes me more hype for Nintendo "little" Switch 2 and what features it will bring for a really great price tag. They could just have free 3rd party Switch 1 game patches for the more busted Switch 1 games (Batman Arkham Knight, MGS collection, ect) that make both the graphics and perfoamnce hit 60fps at 1080p and I would be vastly impressed.
