    Jews and Christians are not enemies. Nor should neo-cons make Conservative Christians their enemies. All you have to agree on is separation of religion and state.
    There is no need to fight with each other. Radical Islam will be a difficult enemy and will probably take more time and energy to defeat than Communism. Radical Islam has more potential for destruction than Fascism and Communism combined.
    I hope you are both aware of that.

    I am not religious but I have not problem with religious people. The main problem as I see it when there is no separation of state and religion.

    I want to understand the settlements. Are they just Jews buying land and building houses in yet to be decided territory? If so, then that is not Israeli claimed land, it is just people who are Jewish building houses in land that may be part of an Islamist future state. Once that happens the Jews could choose to sell the homes, or decide to stay in an Islamist state, unless Jews aren't allowed in an Islamist state, contrary to how Muslims are allowed in the Jewish state.

  • @MrApplewine
    @MrApplewine 11 лет назад +1

    The Case for Israel book talks about the 1937 partition being a Jewish state where Jews are a majority. That makes sense to me, but what about the 1947 partition plan? Was that a fair plan? I suppose it was based an understanding of future populations and just dividing up the land somewhat equally?

    • @thebreedinghousewife8818

      1947 designated about half of palestine to the future jewish state and a 50/50 arab-jewish demographic split, which enabled zionist forces to ethnically cleanse the palestinians

    This is a good guy, but he gets some things wrong. He is not assertive enough when it comes to defending Israel by saying you can't use "disproportionate force". That is ridiculous, that is how war is won.

  • @simsonyee

    I don't think he is against you. I assume his main issue to maintain the separation of state and religion. As Jew I am well aware of the extraordinary support Protestant Christians have towards Jews and am grateful for it.

    I have found the article, there are a number of things before and after that quote I feel change the context of it, however, I do agree it is still incorrect in the way he put it. I would like to say I myself am against collective punishment, regardless of anyone else, but that doesn't make me dismiss everything he has argued for/against. I shall continue in another comment.

  • @PSYCHOsPHILOSOPHY
    @PSYCHOsPHILOSOPHY 11 лет назад

    Secondly if it is the case that he did intend it, because admittedly it is a controversial example he used, he states that if it is used for "terrorist operations". So not any random village would be knocked down, but one where the villagers allowed for the terrorists to operate from. Of course not all villagers would be responsible for this, so I do not fully agree, however, in law a bystander to a crime that does not act despite being able to, is often seen as just as guilty as perpetrator.

    " In both collections of the hadith, Al-Bukhari and Muslim say to us:
    "Judgment Day will not come before you fight the Jews, and the Jews will
    hide behind a stone or a tree, and the stone or the tree will say: Oh Muslim,
    oh servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him, with
    the exception of the gharqad tree" - and this is why it is not uncommon to
    see gharqad trees around the settlements and so on.

    I don't want you to do my research per say, but if you have made an assertion it is reasonable to ask for evidence for this, and as you are the one bringing new information to light it is your burden to prove it to me. I said for my research because I felt that this would further your motive to educate someone who may not know all of the facts.

    Okay, let us break down the reasoning you follow. If I were to say, the people in Greece "are on welfare" would this be racist? Evidently not, Greece is a national state concerned (or at least should be) with all its people. Ethnicity does not fall into anything Alan Dershowitz has said. The Palestinian people are a collection of many people, defined by a national consciousness, not an ethnic one. Alan Dershowitz is nothing like a Nazi.

    Yea Goldstone was picked just because he was a Jew, not because of the work he did bringing the butchers in the old Yugoslavia to justice and not because he's considered one THE world's authority on International Justice. Strange how Mr. Dershowitz NEVER EVER mentions ONE deliberate lie in the report in ANY of his talks. And for good reason. He's a lawyer (whose used to justifying the actions and defending murderers) and he knows full well what "libel" is.

  • @PSYCHOsPHILOSOPHY
    @PSYCHOsPHILOSOPHY 11 лет назад

    All very well but, delouaz, you didn't answer my question, where did Dershowitz support collective punishment, because of course I would be against that, but I cannot find it... Also there're plenty of other examples of states and groups using collective punishment, that mere fact that Dershowitz stands up against Israeli nationalists kind of demeans your comparison to him and Nazi's. Never seen a un-nationalistic Nazi in my life. But until you show me where he is for collective punishment..

  • @PSYCHOsPHILOSOPHY
    @PSYCHOsPHILOSOPHY 11 лет назад

    Considering the IDF hasn't existed for even a single century I am now suspicious of your seeming attempts to dramatise this beyond reality. But for each crime they have witnessed and done nothing, I agree. You will have to get specific in order to have a debate on that issue further.
    Indeed some have formed a group in "Break the Silence" but to try and apply that as something all Israeli soldiers,or even a sizable portion, is misguided. Many soldiers feel they have served their families

    - Take over other people land ??? Palestinian had their land but it's occupied

  • @PSYCHOsPHILOSOPHY
    @PSYCHOsPHILOSOPHY 11 лет назад

    Maybe, possibly maybe some attacks were through desperation, but you are approaching a middle east problem with western eyes. The cultural process of both sides is not like yours. Religion on both sides plays an impact, but mainly with the Palestinians. They justify doing it because they think they will get rewarded for taking a human life, most often innocent life.
    And that isn't an accurate description of what happened, way way to simplistic of a historical narrative.

  • @PSYCHOsPHILOSOPHY
    @PSYCHOsPHILOSOPHY 11 лет назад

    I did not call them "traitors", nor did I say they did a disservice to their families either, you are building a straw-man by putting words in my mouth. I honestly believe those claims should be looked into with utmost importance. But to characterize all of the Israeli army based on them is not representative. The approach that these guy exist meaning the whole of the IDF is bad is not fair.
    Playing the victim? Paah. You talk to relative of the fogel family among others of playing the victim.

      You mean like when they gave up the land in Gaza, only for it to be used by Hamas to fire rockets at them?

    • @nikitafagerbrant2428
      @nikitafagerbrant2428 5 лет назад

      It does not sexist such a thing as 1967 borders.
      But if we play with the idea. Do you really think it's god to return what Jordan named West bank, to Jordan. Similar with Gaza, do you really think it's a god idea return it to Egypt? The people in Gaza suffered a lot.
      Two things here. 1, those areas was illegally invaded, occupied by egypt and annexed by Jordan. 2. The land was illegally invaded and taken from the mandate for the Jewish National home.
      Israel made a peace deal with Jordan as per U.N. resolution and could keep West bank.Israel made a peace deal with Egypt and returned Sinai, Egypt did not want to have Gaza back.
      Why force them back to them? Is international law not something we should follow today?

      which is why we want to keep it that way. in spite of what Iran wants.
      Please! no more Iran-denial.
      IRAN-denial is not quite like holocaust denial, but it's denial in the face of what Iran said it wants - which is to wipe out the Jewish people in Israel.
      This is the same kind of denial people had in WW2 when Hitler said he wanted to wipe out the Jewish people because he was anti-zionist.
      People just didn't believe he meant it.
