    Dev I’m still halfway through but this REALLY opened my eyes to the real struggled faced by transgenders. I don’t think I ever knew half of what this inner turmoil could feel like. And I’d never gone out of my way to research this (cause… idk life and my own mental health struggles). This was eye opening. Thank you for sharing this with us. Love the podcast and this new chapter. And more power to Alex. He’s a strong one (literally too hahaha) and articulated his story so so well ❤️💪🏻

    Im about 21 mins in, & I wanna add to what he was saying abt how society treats women vs men. In society men are seen as more "emotionally stable" than women, "smarter", "stronger", more successful, etc.
    Especially for men, its looked down upon to be "feminine" or like "girl things." But TBH, even as a woman, we still get criticized for being "too girly", liking the color pink, wearing makeup, how we talk etc. Its really a struggle out here, but hopefully it helps us all realize that nobody perception of you matters beside yourself. You can't make everyone happy!
    ( Also side note, I have to say this mans voice is so soothing & he should have a podcast himself lol. )

    Oh damn the earlier part I would say its definitely portrait my childhood and life now. I remember wake up everyday, look myself in the mirror and just wanna smash my head against it. I just feel disgusted, shame,... feel like I've been waiting for sthg to change. I never feel like i'm living, just feel like i'm trying to exist... Now i'm able to transitioning, everything starts to change, i feel way more happier everyday, exciting for the thing i could do. Love it man, just love it

    What transgender people go through is an awful experience not to be wished upon anyone. They're miserable being trapped in a body that feels foreign & unfamiliar every day of their lives. It's cruel NOT to let a genuinely Trans kid be who they are. And, if you can't tell the difference between your child truly being trans vs. your child _supposedly_ going through a "phase," or "trend," you're not listening to them.
    Pay attention to your child - the truth & a child's authenticity will become obvious over time. The podcast, "How To Be A Girl," is excellent, and truly enlightening on the subject of a child's ability to know and express this from a young age. ❤

    This guy is awesome but i have to say (as a trans man myself) he’s overthinking the affects of being trans and working out. There is no difference truly. I worked with a trainer in bodybuilding for 2 years and never told him I’m trans and everything went extremely well and I was able to completely transform my body as any man would. If you’re on hormones and all there’s really no difference. Eat right and workout and you’ll be golden

    I loved this episode so much…I think for one thing it’s a beautiful story and I’m so happy his family was so supportive. It’s also a wonderful advocacy for gender affirming care for transgender youths through puberty blockers…I’ve had three separate friends and even my girlfriend is trans and all of these people have talked with me about how much having access to puberty blockers would have saved them so much turmoil and trauma, as for them going through puberty not only caused emotional strife but also makes their emotional and physical transitions more complicated now as adults because they now have to work against a body that transformed in a way they didn’t want it to and that makes it harder for then to reach where they want to be today

Very open and honest & isn’t afraid to speak against the norms of what people perceive to be “taboo” topics like the potential (key word, POTENTIAL) biological explanations for transgender people. Things like that shouldn’t invalidate the trans community, it actually further helps possibly (key word, POSSIBLY) explain the community’s origin. I just love his perspective and his genuine approach. Super smart human being and a blessing because he truly can educate SO many people on being respectful to those who we don’t necessarily see eye to eye with.

    I can totally relate to wanting to be a man. I’m a woman but I have always sort of longed for the simplicity of being a man. Maybe it’s not more simple to be a man but in my mind I have always thought it would be. Anyone relate? If I was a man I’d probably be a very complicated troubled man that wouldn’t escape much of the female experience besides the hormonal misery. 😂

    • @wind-uptoy
      @wind-uptoy 6 месяцев назад

      Wanting to get out from under the patriarchy and wanting to live as what feels true 24/7 with family, friends, strangers, lovers, and *alone* are 2 very different feelings. I tried to dampen my feelings, which are the latter, by negotiating it into the former. I know that really it won't be easier. I know that things will change and it probably won't be pleasant.
      A trans youtuber that I watch put it beautifully: "So my identity is grounded not in the things that bring me pain or that other people do to me, but in the things that I love and in the places that I feel at home."

      because female and male are dehumanizing terms used to describe all kinds pf animals, and man and woman refer specifically to humans, what’s more many misogynistic men these days use the term female as a derogatory one to do just that-dehumanize women
      so i’m asking, why does he speak of men as men, but women as females? why the lack of consistency?

    They have internalized Homophobia. I feel for this person considering they started social transitioning early on, which was them appearing more masculine. Everything they mentioned was just a Tom boy. They are so much a Tom boy they became a lesbian, they are dating a women…

      even if a trans gyy compete with cis men there is still high possibility of one dominating the other since female is weak no matter thr amount of hormones. Since they can only change so much. Same goes for trans women they will dominate the competition against cis women because esteogen doesnt barely do anything at all. So no they shouldnt. And trans people agree
