also the Pilot G2 is bad, no questions at this time
Thank you for adding this information as the pinned comment.
I just bought the Pentel one for the first time. The clicky part is really loose and constantly rattles while you write. Otherwise really nice.
Schneider fountain pen are better and eco friendly plus good for hand writing plus it has a non toxic faster to dry on paper ink plus with that german made steel fountain nib
broo the pilot precise thingy is out of stockk

That Lamy Safari is the pen that made me leave everything else behind for fountain pens. And yet my Lamy’s never make me feel like a pretentious snob about it.
Same
I just ordered my first Lamy to add to my fountain and dip pens. Looking forward to getting it, should be here Tuesday. Every review I’ve read are by people who rave about the Lamys.
I have a LAMY fountain pen too help it was like 40 dollars but idc it’s literally so nice it got me to start journaling
I think it’s the safari one it looks the exact same it’s like the light pink one bro I love LAMY
@@dearryuzaki LAMY and Pilot >>>
Though I like the Pilot V5, it’s only good with the right paper. With the wrong paper it bleeds like crazy, so I can’t agree it’s the best of all pens.
I agree
That can be said about almost all types of pens.
@@JohnBarrow1961What paper makes ballpoint pens bleed through? 😮
I’ve only had issues with it on certain notebook paper. Other than that it’s the best pen I’ve ever used
@@Eagle608 "almost"
The safari was so enjoyable that i was not able to switch back to normal pens even for exams, i got a fancy uniball rollerball pen and it was just too much of a drop.
Haha.
You should upload some content on your channel of you writing with the pen.
Would love to see the results of using this pen.
🙋🤔😚😚😚
the pilot G2 is my ride or die. it's a basic pen but an old comfort...she's perfect for me
Same
The g2 disrespect is wild 😭🙏🏾✝️
I hate g2s
You gotta admit it does smear a lot
@@GeneticFreak for me it's more about the feel, and the fact the writing still railroads on occasion like a ballpoint, and they still need a little too much pressure for me. Its kind of the worst of both worlds
Man I remember putting a rollerball refill in that bitch and it soloed all pens here but the Lamy. The Precise is not that good to be at the top nor should it be ranked above a fountain pen like the Safari 😭😭
You gotta get the G2 0.5
I will not stand for G-2 Pilot slander. That thing was God tier in high school
Nah it’s terrible compared to the 40 cent random pen I got online which had liquid ink visible and a needle tip and insanely improved my handwriting
@@TheRealYashNotFakedepends how good your writing is
my 15 cent pilot ballpoint pen is way better than this crap
@@peachandtoffee oh heck no get a 1.0
it was god tier for me in elementary school, best pens i used and i honestly considered them until i got the lamy and the energel recently, but i still like the overall design of the g-2, but since ink cartridges for the energel are compatible with the g-2, i just switch them out, though you can't replace the energel cartridge with the g-2 one because hole is smaller, so the g-2 can't fit, but if they made the hole bigger than it would fit and it would be quite nice
The last one don't even feel like a pen, just feels like I'm moving my hand and ink appears. So damn smooth
The jetstream is the best ballpoint pen hands down. Crushes bic in everything.
Bic sucks
Uniball Jetstream 1.0. A Sanford rep gave me my first one. I literally have purchased thousands of those pens (high-end tchotchkes). Everyone I give one to is immediately hooked. Plus you can get them in black, blue, red, and green ink.
And the ink dries very fast
Check out the Pilot V5 RT. Same cartridge as the V5 but retractable like other more common pens
Ooo I might
What does Retractable mean?
@@originalunoriginal4055It has the cilcky thing on top to put the pen tip out.
@@originalunoriginal4055clicky clicky
@@originalunoriginal4055you can retract it
I bought that Pentel pen just to try out and it’s spoiled me. They’re so good for what I’m paying for.
Depends on the writing surface. I used to swear by the G2. When I went to the FAA academy, the flight progress strips were very slick and G2s didn’t work. :(
Energel is absolutely great
You can take my lamy safari from my cold dead hands…
you finished suits recently haha lol
I can also vouch for the energel. It came out on top when I was trying out a bunch of different pens to see if anything could beat the G2.
LAMY Safari an affordable, superb everyday Fountain-Pen. Use a refillable adapter or directly refill the cartridges lower the cost of use.
I daily fountain pens absolutely the best writing experience. Switched over about 5 years ago and haven't gone back since.
I haven't tried that one but I just really love the platinum preppy and it's cheap
Why people call lamy affordable . Here in india it is luxury brand to buy from
@@royd8412Lamy is a German brand so shipping to Europe and North America is very cheap, meaning prices are lower there. India has many great affordable fountain pen brands though.
I love my Lamy Safari. It writes from first touch, is smooth, never skips and is super comfortable to use. It puts my other fountain pens in the shade. I bought a two pack of the refillable cartridges because I like to use my different colored inks. Lamy is the bomb!
I used to be a diehard for G2s until another bank teller introduced me to the energels. I'll have to try your top choice, but first impression makes me think it will be too thin for me. Why were we comparing different line widths? The G2 was .7 but the energel was .5 🤨
Unrelated. In my experience, pilot v7 grip writes smoother than a 0.7 mm energel pen but the energel ink is darker and more fade resistant.
For the v5 I recommend also getting the retractable and seeing which you prefer
Energel also has a .7 option
energels were crazy good when I randomly found one and used one for months
I have V5, V7, and V10 all in RT form. Their colors are nice too.
The Pilot G2 is my favorite pen for note-taking. Yes, it does have a problem with skipping when the cartridges get low, but I've never used another pen that fits my hand and accommodates heavy pressure so well.
Lamy pens are good, but to buy ink cartridges regularly is pricy imo
Purchase bottled ink and a pen-syringe. Fill try syringe with ink and refill the carriage. The cost of user drops drastically.
It's actually a cartridge/converter. I think it's a crime that Lamy don't supply the Z28 converter with the pen but it's less than $10. This gives you access to literally hundreds of inks. I always have one with Platinum Carbon Black in it, and one with Diamine Imperial Purple. Carbon Black is completely waterproof once it is dry, and a 2 oz bottle of diamine ink is less than $20. If you don't want to buy the converter straight away, you can refill the cartridge with a blunt syringe. If you like fountain pens there's a whole world to explore.
Dont even need to buy adapters or anything fancy, I refill the cartridge that came with the pen with a regualr medical syringe. Works great and I get to pick wtv ink I want
As a person who's also enjoyed the pilot V5, my favorite pen is actually the Uniball Vision
„Sell me this pen“
Ayo, the G2 is perfect, am a Lefty and never had any problems with the G2 ink and I have had 2 in my back pack ever since 5th grade (about 9 years)
I’ve been using v5 and more often v7 since high school, so I feel pleasantly validated
Those Sharpie fine tip pens are my absolute favorite. Not the normal ones you use for boxes but Sharpie Pens
Yeah I use those for work
Sharpie S-Gel aluminum pens are SO GOOD for the price range.
I’m a fountain pen user and after I picked up a pilot precision V7 left on a library table… damn I can live with this.
The bic orange pen wont ever disappoint 😎
The opaque one or the orange transparent with the black cap? I used the transparent fine tip one for years and loved it…until I found the Sarasa clip .4.
*Bic cristal has joined the chat*
Ah, the pen that changed the world.
This made me so sad for those poor children from this show. They speak openly about the abuse now. So sad.
*PLATINUM PREPPY JOINS THE CHAT*
Welp, my thoughts kinda match too, but pilot precise *LEAKS*. I owned 2...BOTH leaked
None of mine leak but all it takes is one rough underline and the tip is bent
So glad to see the Energel on top. I love these pens
Sarasa Clip in .4 indigo is the only pen I use. I’ve converted many onto them. I agree the ink runs out quickly, but performance while it lasts is very satisfying. I will have the try 1st and 2nd place.
mine wrote scratchy and the ballpoint got stuck and stopped rolling one day. my least favorite pen ive ever owned
@@ErieRosewood that sucks! In the 7 years I’ve been using them, I’ve never had a dud. Give one another try…I’m not saying it’s better than any of the others on this list, but it’s been a never fail pen for me. I do have a colour set in .3 and except for the black, which I loved, many from that set have not performed as well and as you described. But the blue black or indigo clip .4 and .5….I’ve gone through boxes upon boxes and never had a bad one.
my G2 ballpoints keeps falling out mid way through the ink making the entire damn thing unusable.
Clearly never touched a Sharpie S-Gel
They're really nice but they kinda write like a non-gel rollerball. Like regular ink almost, if that makes sense.
^^^^
Thank you
It's really good but a pilot precise grip roller ball is like magic
I’ve come across 2 in the wild… one had ink issues where it couldnt lay down a consistent line, the other scratchy.
How you gonna do my G2 07 like that, I don't buy anything else
You need to be more adventurous. The journey has just begun
@@Sam-nz9yn I will not, I find ol' reliable, and I never look back lol
@@Sam-nz9ynfr
@bub160 fr 😂
G2 05 better
The Lamy 2000 is the greatest pen of all time, bar none
My favorite pen so far, the nib is a bit sharp though
I never had an issue with the pilot G2. But then again, I would lose them before I was anywhere close to using up half the ink.
i wanna love the g2 so bad because the refills can be found at my nearest walmart and i don’t like ordering things online (i tend to participate in overconsumption more when i can’t physically see what’s in my cart), but the railroading and skipping bothers me so much…
that being said, energel is my favorite pen 😭 i usually have my dad order refills for me on his amazon account and just pay him back because that way i’m not scrolling through things and spending more than i need to.
Bro just said “entry level fountain pen”
Is it not?
Its cheap so I'd say it is idk what you mean
@@schm147of course Lamy is not an enyry level. Haven't you heard of Jinhao for instance? I paid less than 10usd for a Jinhao 75, a Parker 75 Cisele clone and I'm really happy with the looks and performance.
The tier 2 are my favs! I have a lamy safari and energel alloy and they're my favs of both types
There is no way a jet stream is marginally better than a bic stick
ABSOLUTELY EXACTLY! I prefer the RT version though. Best pen ever.
Had a LAMY abc in primary school because they were standard, a Pelikan classic in middle school and finally a Montblanc in high school
I use whatever pen I find on the school floor and they work fabulously 80% of the time
HELP V5 IS SO REAL
I’d like a pilot v5 with rubber handle for better grip. There used to be a version of it: the pilot v2000 but I can’t find it anymore for sale
The pilot v5 rt is my go to pen, sounds exactly like what you're looking for.
Moved to France when I was a kid, they still make kids use fountain pens in school and I was never able to go back to cheap ballpoint pens eversince
So expensive ballpoints are OK then?
I 100% agree with the precise v5,my favorite roller on the market!
in v5 we trust
omg I own all of these, never thought about em.
I can confirm every single one of these is 100% correct.
Nope. It's got to be retractable. If it's not retractable, it's not going in the #1 spot.
The Precise V5 is available in retractable format- it’s the V5 RT. Also available in V7 and V10 in various colors.
The bic sticks are reliable, cheap and the ink doesnt smudge. Only problem is they have caps and disposable. I like my zebra f701, all stainless steel and have the same good qualities as the bic, except the bic ink seems to be slightly better. Great for cooks.
Still love my Meisterstuck the most. It just feels so comfortable on the paper.
Needle tip energel is what gives me life, always my favorite
The g2 is so good
I'm just happy my energel is in there. 😅
Best ballpoint in my generation was the Bic Accountant fine point.
The Pilot G-2 0.7mm is still great for writing.
I like the Lamy Safari. But nothing can compete with my Lamy Lx.
You need to try Mitsubishi uni-ball one, it is so smooth.
I don’t understand the G2 bashing at all. I’ve used the 0.5 in black and blue exclusively for years, and I keep refills on hand. If someone borrows a pen from me, I find it doesn’t return. Yeah, can’t blame anybody, lol!
Tonight I ordered my very first Lamy. I have a small number of fountain pens but after reading nothing but rave reviews I got my Lamy off my wish list. I should get it Tuesday, and I am hyped about it.
How'd it go?
@@angelux079
The Lamy is a Lamborghini as far as a fountain pen goes. It’s smooth, writes from first touch of nib to paper and doesn’t skip at all. It’s super comfortable to use. Very impressive! I’m looking at another Lamy version in a gift set with a pot of ink, box of cartridges and wipes. I’m in love with this pen over my others, from a locally crafted wood beauty to a special limited edition numbered German pen. The Lamy is simply the clear winner, and the price of the Safari and some other models can’t be beat. Who’d have thought a plastic pen could be so fine!
@@mynamedoesntmatter8652 That's awesome! I also ordered my first Lamy and I should get it on Monday. I have heard nothing but positive things about the Lamy. Thank you for your feedback I really appreciate it, really excited for it to arrive.
@@angelux079
Fantastic! Let me know how your experience is. I think you’re going to be one big grin from first nib to paper! Happy writing ~~~~~
@@angelux079
Did you get it? How is it?
I got the pentel energel for a year now, never bought a new pen, just the refill, its so good, and it has so many color choices
Sarasa 0.7 is the GOAT among ball pens.
For anyone curious what a V5 feels like, I'd say you probably need to relearn how to write slowly because the damn thing rolls so fast and smooth. It makes you wanna write beautifully.
Crazy that's the pen I wanted to win but did not think would be at the top. Write with those currently. Precise V5 0.5
Bic cristal>>>>>>>>
I like the skilcraft B3 aviator. It’s a 3 in 1 black pen, red pen, and mechanical pencil w/eraser.
I wish the Safari had an EXTRA extra fine nib, the EF nib comes off like a 1.0mm tip from any rollerball pen. It’s respectable, but I just want it to give me those REALLY fine lines I love so much from pens like the pilot G tec C
The only time anyone has ever complimented me on my pen it was a Lamy Safari.
I have the energel one and it improved my writing so good
Pilot Juice Up is best for me. Roller ball that feels like a fountain pen.
I love the Pilot V5 but i hate that they explode on airplanes.
You forgot bic pen. Cheap, useful and indestructible
Uniball vision supremacy. The vision elite is also nice but feels like it DUMPS ink on the paper
uniball eye also called uniball vision in some countries, I love that one, I love the pilot too but its not waterproof, but the unable doesn't disintegrate even if I rub the paper underwater, the plastic grip is okay but the ink lasts soooo long, and its also moderately priced
That Zebra Sarasa Clip 0.7 is amazing.
Energel never skips, writes super fast, has a very bold color. Only con is that the refill size is almost half or slightly less than half of the pen length, diameter is also less so it empties out quite sooner than what I’d like . Otherwise it’s a massive win.
Those bottom 3 are my top three favorites. All those pens are pretty great tho.
I like Energels but I use uniball signo the most because their ink is pretty waterproof which lets me use watercolor later.
valid!! I hate G2s 😭 Bic Xtra Bold are my guilty pleasure and Pilot Acroball mediums have to be my favorite
Lamy Safari: the gateway drug of 90% of fountain pen addicts.
Apples to oranges and trash list overall
I buy Precise V5 by the dozen,...been using them for 12 years....only problem is taking them on long haul flights when they sometimes leak a bit.Still love this writer.
fisher space pen left the chat
On the last rank piolet pen at the first rank piolet pen😂
Nothing ever beat the good ol' bic cristal.
The G2 in blue is perfect for like watercolor. You mix it with watercolor, and it does perfect shading. That’s what I use it for.
Uni-ball Vision Elite is the best rollerball pen hands down!!
I personally tried the pilot v5; loved the concept, crazy capacity and longevity. You could literally see the ink sloshing around in the barrel, it was insane. But I can’t get past the fact that the pen just doesn’t work well for me- the pen feels scratchy, the ink flow is inconsistent, and the range of angles are not friendly.
I really wanted to love it, the design was perfect.
I tried the energels that my mom swore by for over a decade and personally there is no going back. It’s honestly different for everybody, so take it with a grain of salt.
So sad Mr Pen wasn’t in the running 😢
I keep my g2 just for signings with sustain pressure for all fountain inks needing not 😂
What do you think about the uniball vision elite?
I agree!! The Pilot precise grip is even better than all of them tho! 🖊️ Extra fine and still smooooth and black as night + quick dry
But also fuck those precise G5’s that nibble is the easiest thing to bend and break. Leaks all the time
How about the Uni-ball AIR?
I'd Bet the last one will take longer to dry or blead through the paper😂
Could not agree more. Gear patrol showed me this pen, went with the retractable one and only have to buy refills the case is so durable and the ink is top
OMG lol that was my favorite pen in school. I had it in every color they made.
I've tried to love fountain pens but my Lamy just dried up and I was too annoyed to deal with it, meanwhile my Pilot V7 and G2 are still going strong. V7 with a slight edge
Oh my gosh my ex was in love with the pillow g2s but I totally agree they just smudge and are so messy!!
