Time to get a 20' car/equipment trailer! I've been happy with the load trail i got last fall for hauling the Kioti.
Why not load the extra attachments in the bed of the pickup truck. Then hook up to the trailer and load the tractor?
This is what I was thinking. Glad I'm not the only one.
Good call on staying away from the landscaping crap. You'd end up hating it probably, on top of having that feeling of "needing" more equipment to get jobs done. And it's hard to factor in that wear and tear on your tractor. I was going to do brush hogging and tilling with mine. But decided I like my equipment too much. I've mowed over a lot of nasty stuff and hit a lot of stuff in the soil while tilling. Who knows whats in everyone else's fields that my equipment will find.
Considering the investment required, the amount of time per job, and the learning curve involved, not proceeding in landscape work sounds like a good decision.
I have the same loader and bucket and a Piranha tooth bar made digging a whole lot easier. You can take out small trees effortlessly with it too.
Be very careful with this side hustle, they can cause lots of trouble! Fred 🙏🏻

Hi Adam! You really do a nice job on your videos. 5 hours for that size of a pile and what was in it wasn’t that bad. I don’t think a skid loader would have been that big of a difference. (Just my opinion from experience using both being in construction). Always looking for your videos!!

If you get a 20' trailer you will probably need a bigger truck.
I have a 12' dump trailer and I feel your pain. What I did to alleviate my issues was build a cradle off the tongue. I then reach the loader over the front and rest the bucket onto the cradle. I strap the bucket down to ensure it doesn't go anywhere. The only issue I had was, clearance tight turning. I have a ladder rack and it gets a bit close.
When you consider the cost of your tractor, implements, dump trailer, and the price of the kind of trailer you need next, it definitely rings true that it takes money to make money! Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
Yeah, Ive got a 2610hst w/5ft box blade and use a 20ft trailer (16ft plus 4ft dovetail). With the brush hog, it just fits.
I'm thinking about doing small food plots for people with my JD compact tractor. You definitely have to pick your battles with a smaller tractor, yes they can do a lot of things but they don't do everything efficiently

Hey Adam, for packing the trailer, can you put the box blade in the front of the trailer on the floor, (not attached), and forks with bucket strapped to it resting on the front wall of the trailer. That way the box blade is under the space of the loader arms. Also, time to buy a stump grinder, could always use more attachments right? 😀

Get a stump grinder it would eat that stump up and you can loosen all that ground up with it. A stump grinder in an easy job you got the equipment just need a grinder I use to run a Bandit stump grinder 4x4 it was a beast and very easy to operate. 👍🇺🇸👍🇺🇸 Nice vids
We have an 18 foot trailer and it came with our Kubota L3301. The tractor fits perfect with some extra room. That even with backhoe on the back of the tractor.
With all the new open space they could put down a huge cement patio with stamped wood look. More outside space more resale value down the road..
I'm in a very similar situation. I have a 7x14 dump trailer and a kubota L4701 which is a little longer than your Kioti. I plan to eventually get a 22 to 24 foot equipment trailer to use for side work when I need more room
Hey Adam, could you do a video on the business side if things? For example how did you accumulate equipment and in what order and did you finance or buy cash?
If I may offer advice for finding equipment for cents on the dollar, farm auctions.
Knowing the mechanical side of things is important, if you don't have the knowledge, bring someone who does.
Many great deals have been achieved via auction and just as many lemons too.

He gets 75$ an hour doing driveways and brush hogging and tilling.

Big Mike is right on the money here. Stick with what your tractor does well and you have experience doing. Jobs like driveways, brush hogging and tilling are easy to estimate and are right in the wheel house of your tractor and the experience you have so far. If you get much farther into this, you will want commercial insurance for the truck, trailer, and a blanket liability policy to cover your work. You can skate by without it for a long time, but it only takes one little mistake to lose everything you own. Best of luck to you, I really enjoy your channel.
@@daviddaniken7248 I think he quickly found out that this isn’t for him. It was a big help to us by solving our pachysandra “hump” problem. Adam is a young man finding his way and sharing the good, the bad and the ugly.
If you’re going to add a sawmill to your business, a stump grinder might be the addition you’re looking for. You can remove the tree,Mill the tree to boards, make firewood and get rid of the stump for the one job.
Depending on the type of tree, stump tables can bring really nice bank as one of a kind item.
@@bigmike4737 true, I’ve also seen beautiful items turned or carved using the roots of some hardwood trees. Lots of value in in a root ball if you have buyers. Lots of labor involved in saving big pieces of the root.
I used to just brush hog for people back when I had mine. 35 bucks an hour you won't get rich but I made my money back on a 5,000 dollar tractor in a little over a year.
You need the right kit for your kioti! The backhoe for this model is great if it's not abused. Also, a grapple bucket or put your bucket in the grapple for hauling.
Give the side hussle some time. Its all about building the experience and connections . Hang in there. We have a 20 foot trailer. Agree with the other comments. Dont know how we got by without

Insurance is an issue in most states. There's space in front of your front tires for at least one implement. I often will set things at the front of the trailer, then back up and put my loader over(to the front of the trailer). Works well. You'll figure it out young man.... time is on your side
Awesome money in landscaping with the right customers and working for yourself. Been doing it for 5 years now I’m 26 own my own home brand new 2021 truck along with 3 other trucks. Multiple trailers and equipment to fill them. I encourage anyone to try landscaping out at least once. Can you make the Videos faster than I can watch them btw 😂.

Just as a reminder if you do go up to a 20' trailer you are going to want to upgrade your truck. I think you have a F150 and you would want at least a F250 even though I'm not a ford guy.
He probably will need a 350 or Dually.Truck are ridiculously expensive now
Hes fine, you can tow 10k with an f150. I do it everyday. He would probably only be around 8k with trailer, tractor and 3 implements

@@anthonygloede if you know how to tow its no problem. I do it all the time but I've been towing tractors and equipment since I got my license 21 years ago. I have an f350 dually we hotshot with to tow 23k with. I can put 16k behind my 05 f250 with no problems. People have no common sense these days and get scared because they clearly don't tow daily. We routinely pull 10k with my wives 2015 expedition el. As long as you have good, adjusted trailer brakes and have some brains and common sense, 8k behind a 4 door, 4x4 f150 is unnoticeable.

I grind 5000 Plus stumps a year. rent a toro stx 38 and that will be dust in 30 minutes. every rental yard has the stx 38. good luck
Great advice... we are now struggling with the stump. More expensive than we thought for removal... plus everyone is pretty busy right now. I want to finish this up soon and it’s dragging out. So I really appreciate your option.
Grapple would be a huge help for that kind of work. I have a root grapple and i use it for a lot becides pulling roots its the best $2000 i ever spent i dont have my bucket on verry often anymore
Time to get your new found neighbor buddy out with that beautiful excavator. Either that or call up good works tractors and get one of his home grown stump buckets. He has a nice product. 👍🏼
A heavy hitch with suitcase weights on the back would help and probably still fit your trailer. Second a tooth bar for your bucket would help a lot with that kind of digging.
I be found that most jobs no matter what kind of job usually ends up taking longer & being more work than expected especially if your the type who needs to do things rite.

Adam- Truly enjoy your videos and channel content. Thought I would bring up something important to think about in your overall Side Hustle question. And, frankly, beyond Side Hustling, the activities you have shown in your videos, whether for pay or not, make this topic important, as well.
Insurance on your tractor (and its related equipment - FEL, mower, grader box, land plane, etc.) is something you need to consider, if you haven't already thought about and acted upon it. Using your tractor off-premises and / or in a business will likely cause the loss of coverage under a standard Homeowners Policy. Further things to consider under a Homeowners Policy are that Personal Property items (such as a tractor, related equipment and implements) are generally only covered for loss caused by specific named perils (Fire, Theft, Vandalism, Wind, etc.) and also usually have much higher deductibles per loss. If you are using the tractor and roll it over on a hillside, damaging it extensively, it likely is not covered under a Homeowners Policy as that doesn’t fit into a named peril. If you're using the FEL to dig out a huge tree stump and tear the loader up, again not covered. Clearing the snow off the pond hockey rink, you hit some thin ice, and the tractor goes through - not covered.
You want a policy that provides “all risk” coverage, includes coverage for attachments and related equipment (these may need to be specifically described or itemized), provides coverage any place you may be using or have your tractor and related equipment (and when transporting it), provides replacement cost coverage, and allows you to choose any deductible amount. Remember, the higher your deductible (what you’ll pay out of your pocket if a loss occurs), the lower your premium cost for the insurance.
No matter whether you buy the insurance offered through the dealer / manufacturer or through your family insurance agent, be sure to read the policy, understand what it covers, the location(s) coverage will apply, what exclusions or limitations may be applicable under the policy, and how losses are settled (replacement cost vs actual value). It’s not just about how much the policy costs. An inexpensive policy that won’t cover you if a loss occurs where and how you regularly use your tractor isn’t worth anything. You get what you pay for.
Finally, this discussion is applicable only to the physical damage to the tractor and equipment. If you’re using the tractor off-premises and / or for pay, you need liability insurance, as well, in case you damage someone else’s property or hurt someone else while operating your tractor / equipment. Accidents happen....
Long comment, but a lot to consider and be aware of beyond who you purchase the insurance from. After all, YOU are paying the premium. Make sure YOUR interests are covered. A good insurance agent will be able to guide you and help you in make the best decisions for you and your circumstances.
And hurry! If you're counting on your Homeowners Policy to provide coverage for you, the awesome videos you have posted showing everything you do with your tractor, etc. likely has already placed coverage for your equipment in jeopardy.

@@mikeadams2339 Thank you. If State Farm will not write it, which surprises me a little, I’d check with an independent agent that has access to several different carriers. Or, perhaps your state’s Farm Bureau Insurance Company. A dealer of your brand of tractor may also be able to point you to an insurance source, depending on the age of your equipment and where you purchased it. Best wishes in a fruitful search and result.
Bolt on teeth for your bucket might of help get through that mess better, cheaper than a dedicated bucket and comes on and off fairly easy. Also ballast box with concrete or some type of heavy hitch always important for that type of work, takes less space then the land plane and is much safer.
I think if you wanted to have a limited tractor for hire type gig it could work. Not so much landscaping, but maybe a tractor and operator type of thing? Mulch, topsoil, gravel, etc.
My 2 stumps were small and old enough to burn. I just put a bag of charcoal on each and I let the burn. One of my stumps took 3 days.

Looks like a beautiful property, thanks for sharing the view with us. As far as a landscape side hustle I think you would want to specialize in what the tractor is good at. You could offer refreshing stone driveways, prepping areas for grass seed (also in this case you won't have the risk of whether or not the lawn actually grows). Seems there would be market for homeowners who are willing to do some of the work but recognize the benefit of hiring out the muscle part of the job. I don't see a downside to putting the word out that you are available to do a few specialized things that you already have the equipment for. Small landscapers might actually be a potential market for you if they are not large enough to have their own tractor yet.

Way too much litigation can be had, in no time at all.
You don't need the legal hassles.
It's one thing to haul off dead trees, but changing where water goes and how fast and percolation rates next to structures, that's gets very complex.
At least take a course or two prior.

I think he decided landscaping will just be for family... he has way too much on his plate now and I can’t imagine him adding it. But he’s always looking at ways to provide an additional income stream for his family. These trials are all a part of his learning curve and he is ok showing his successes and attempts. He has been a determined persistent kid and it’s continuing...LOL!!!

Hi Adam, there is a thing called a stump bucket for a tractor that you might look in to renting. if you look up on GP outdoors, you will find his videos of using his stump bucket. maybe you could call your dealer and see about renting one.
A grapple on your bucket would speed up the process quite a bit. A stump bucket might be able to bust up that old stump but a backhoe would be a better choice.... Of course a grapple on a skid steer and/or a mini Ex would have made short work of that project

Landscaping is always harder than it looks in the beginning.
Another idea, put the bucket on the forks, bring the forks, good on stumps, and would have been great on the pachysandra.. Box blade may have fit at the front of the trailer but maybe not.. or you can get a couple of tubes welded under the frame of the trailer for the forks depending on clearance.. get into landscaping and you'll run into the same thing these guys are saying, bigger truck, insurance, DOT cops..... even hauling lawn equipment here in the northeast they are on us..

Having a backhoe on the tractor would have solved your issues. And yes, a 20' Load Trail landscape trailer for transport.

There are other ways to make money using your tractor, and the equipment you have. I make about $5000.00 cash a year on snow removal, small road and laneway repairs. I keep track of the amount of time spent on these side hustles, and last year I had 23 hours in to make a little over that amount. Once the word gets around, the jobs will come.

Adam, is there a reason you could not just put pallet in the bed of your truck?
Our driveway is narrow and on a big slope. Very difficult to unhook the trailer and get the tractor close to unload the attachments. It’s a tight area. A grapple really would have been great there.

Certainly need an excavator and all the right attachments plus bigger trailer and all the right insurances , not worth the hassle unless you do it full time , it would beat the crap out of your tractor 🚜 doing landscaping work

Dumb question, but why not load attachments in the pickup?
I asked that too!!! LOL.... a grapple would have been the ticket!
If the job isn't too far, you could always load the attachment lengthwise into the dump trailer first and then go dump them out at the jobsite before going back for the tractor. Especially worth the extra time if it's a multi day project.
