Mikey seems so nice and innocent but he has invented something sooo evil! He smiles so sweetly as he says he can break the foot and knee at the same time 😂
hahah I think some of it is also concentration. Bernardo seems so passionate about jiu jitsu that he's probably just trying to learn while he's in pain.
This is probably the one technique in Jiu-Jitsu I'd describe as evil. I drilled this after seeing this demonstration and I can't put into words how utterly devastating and catastrophic this would be against someone who doesn't respect it and taps instantly. Don't do this to your training partners UNLESS they know about it. For the love of God.
That's so...if so and so say said such and such...(that narrow minded approach triggers me). If it works for you, it works. It worked for mikey in under 1 minute, that is signal for me learn and try it.
Bernardo, your passion for knowledge is inspiring and contagious. Thank you for bringing the best content from these elite practitioners. Mikey, I appreciate your dedication and obsession with your art. Excellent breakdown, thank you.
I remember the video with Lachlan Giles (big respect) re: hill hooks, where Bernardo asked him to "Put it on so I can feel it".. There was no need for it here... BJJ keeps evolving. Thanks for sharing this Mikey. Hopefully people will train and apply this wisely .. ;)
@@AhidChowdhury I was envisioning trying to strike Mikey, but he has good distance. one observation is that the best defence is trying to avoid these risky positions. train hard!
One natural counter to this move would be to rub your feet with Garlic (or some other reeking substance). Seriously now, ppl please wash your feet before training so this move could be practiced without reservations :)
Awesome! This position is devastating! Interesting to hear Mikey explain the difference between whether your opponent is using plantar or dorsiflexion.
Agreed. Additional benefit: it would teach everyone how to correctly pronounce his name. #TeamMikeyAbsolutelyPositivelyDidNOTInventThisConceptButILoveHisUniqueSetupAndVariationOfExecutionWhichKindOfMeansHeInventedThis
If you watch Tom Davey grappling academy Tips and hints on ankle locks on youtube he basically showed the Mickey lock before the Mickey lock was invented!!
Yeah sure there is nothing new under the sun. But give props to the kid for trying to reinvent the wheel. He definitely modified the initial concepts to produce something different.
13:00 for all the slow ppl who keep saying bas rutten, Mikey invented the system to complete a move that was never systematically in place, I wonder what gordan Ryan would do to escape
Like so many great scientific discoveries - it is made by a curious and observant mind that goes "Hmmm that's odd..." as opposed to " I found it - eureka!". Thanks Mikey!!
You know the thing is it’s really different when you have different sizes of people when you’re trying to get this because sometimes like they’re like so small I can’t get back down. I have to sit up and get it to my face where we would’ve been perfect to go right to that Hill hook, but I was trying to different ways and I was trying to also from lockdown where you can push them over and then go back and go out the back door. It automatically goes there and then just using that same position but backwards, I’ll have to video it

Haha, does Mikey watch Chadi? Reagradless crazy stuff. It's so interesting to me how holding the foot in a fulcrum a little higher on ur own body makes it much more difficult to get out.
I like what an old grappler told me. There is nothing new this stuff has been around a while it was just forgotten. If you watch some sambo you will see stuff like this.
hello. i am a bjj practitioner in vietnam and i have been training on youtube for some years now. i have a question about a term called "fugurami principle" and it is somewhat a technical term? may you help me understand this technical term by explaining it? thank you in advance ❤️
"Invented"... pretty sure ive seen Dean Lister, Eddie Cummings, and a couple more use this same thing. Its like all these other "new" moves that are actually really old catch wrestling or judo techniques
imagine catching someone with this when he's wearing shoes with all the shoe material to latch and hold on to. And the entry is not as complicated as others. I imagine in an actual 1on1 fight you're gonna have to literally shout your break warning so the other guy hears you just coz you're way far down his legs. Lol
Get yourself a rolling partner as exited and open minded about bjj as Bernado but more importantly be as excited and opened minded about bjj as Bernado. He is the adage of no matter how much you know your always a student.
Mikey seems so nice and innocent but he has invented something sooo evil! He smiles so sweetly as he says he can break the foot and knee at the same time 😂
I chuckled at that part to lol
Bro I'm dying.
True😂
“Here, Bernardo can stay comfortably” as Bernardo is tapping violently. 😂 Mikey is a wizard.
My guy has been getting clowned and he responds by just breaking it down and teaching it free for the public. Awesome stuff.
I could feel the tension on Bernardo's face throughout the entire video. This lock looks brutal. I'll go through this on the mat later today.
The look of pure horror and pain on his face was hilarious. Heel hooks are legit scary
hahah I think some of it is also concentration. Bernardo seems so passionate about jiu jitsu that he's probably just trying to learn while he's in pain.
It made me cringe through the whole video. Man that looks brutal indeed
Just when heel hooks were legalized in ibjjf, Mikey got them banned again…
Lol true

You just saved a leg, thank you, i was about to create the 1st social security check of the year 💀
Thanks lol I was gonna try it tonight
11:18 "Bernardo can stay here comfortable" **Bernardo tapping**
Bernado’s facial expressions show how effective this is. Lol
Yeah but why does he smile when he feels pain? A true BJJ Fanatic! LMAO!
😂😂😂
We need Lachlan Giles to either find an escape, or confirm that there is none lol
That's so...if so and so say said such and such...(that narrow minded approach triggers me).

It worked for mikey in under 1 minute, that is signal for me learn and try it.
This was awesome, I was also under the impression that there was nothing original to the technique until I saw this video. Thanks Bernardo and Mikey!
"After I break his foot in half his knee is going to break in half (innocent childish smile)." 😄

Legit and amazing. This guy is playing advanced chess while everyone is seemingly learning the moves.

Bernardo looks of disgust at 4:08 is priceless 😂😂
It also appears that striking distance is widened (between your fist and his head) possible making it safer to go after the lock in an MMA scenario.
Don’t you mean his fist and your head. So you can protect your head better since it’s usually exposed during leglocks?
@@AhidChowdhury I was envisioning trying to strike Mikey, but he has good distance. one observation is that the best defence is trying to avoid these risky positions.
train hard!
Came here to say this same thing. Looks pretty impossible to be punched in the face from this possession.
@Water Gun he says in the video that he's certain that he hasn't invented this move just rediscovered it. Watch the video before complaining
Good point
4:45 “this does nothing here”
You sure because Bernardo tapped lol
Damn it's the first time I've seen Bernardo terrified of a submission 😯, that lock looks dangerous af.
Genuine genius is Mikey. And what I love about him most is his humility.
@Water Gun what would it be called in catch wrestling
Every time I watch this I sweat Bernardo’s anxiety throughout the whole demo..
I love some of the personalities bjj has produced. Berndo and Mikey are both so good for the sport and the community 👏💥
this guy seems like the nicest dude. so respectful, but an absolute killer 😅
He's so animated about this, I'm reminded of Renner. Great honor for me.
Man... i will never do this to anyone. It so powerful and gives me goosebumps
Very very nice. Love how intellectual Mikey is.
This grip works so well. Been playing with it ever since I saw the video a year ago.
this kid is a genius
Great explanation.
Man, that's a scary heel hook
I love how passionate both guys look
Make no mistake, this is innovation. Super excited to see how this technique unfolds in the coming months and years

I would love to hear what Gordon and Lachlan think about this
Gordon thinks this is bullshit because he never saw Danaher teach it.
LoL
Mikey, no need to validate the haters, we believe you. F them.
13:00 he points out the difference with the Bas Rutten one
bad rutten needed to pass it to the other side
grip - 1:30 , 2:25 , 4:40 , 7:50 , 10:45 , 11:45
finish - 2:55 , 5:00 , 8:50 , 12:20
entrance - 6:20

Good for Mikey for inventing a move that’s older than him.
ok

Awesome! This position is devastating! Interesting to hear Mikey explain the difference between whether your opponent is using plantar or dorsiflexion.
"The Musumeci" is a much better name for it. "The Mikey lock" is kind of a dumb name. Musumeci sounds badass like Kimura. Lost opportunity.

When was the last time someone invented a brand new, a genuinely brand new submission? This kid is one intelligent young man. Beast
Tom Davey showed this on grappling academy youtube video 4 years ago.
Erik Paulson Killer Leg Locks. VHS.
2 of the nicest guys in bjj. Thx for the video!

Bas Rutten did exactly the same submussion back in the Pancrase days
I learned quite a lot from this video. Thank you.

He'd tap Mikey out first.
11:17: "Bernardo can stay here comfortable". Bernardo taps immediately.
Yeah, I think "comfortable" means something else for these freak athletes. Look at Miyao brothers or Vinny.
Mikey: There is no defense
Miyao: Just dont tap
Never seen bernardo tap so much in 15 mins
Lol you haven't watched him and pete the greek wrist lock video yet then :P
I have not hahaha
lol I vibe with mikey so much, I'm also a super friendly smiley guy but love being absolutely vicious in sneaky ways
