lots of great tips here - thanks for putting together. I picked up the headcrusher based on your recommendation. it's only $5 at the moment. I've always found virtual/programmed drums to be the hardest part of recording. I've used all sorts of machines, programs and techniques over the years. It's always rather tedious, but worth it in the end. Ugritone is super impressive for the cost. It's been my go-to for the last few projects. Two things I like using (not just for drums but pretty much everything) are an SSL-style channel strip and tape compression.
1st off? Great fkn video my dude, and a great jam! Super dig the transitions etc. I love stumbling across hidden gems like this.... let me know if you would be down for some collab work, I also have a full blown studio etc... and I dig your style.
@@NickLeonardLET'S GOOOO..... I suck with Discord and shi*, and I don't see a link, but I will try to reach out on the platforms you have in the description... thanks man for getting back to me so quickly !
I still use GP5 lol. I've done it so much, I can tab a song out pretty dang fast. Eventually I export the midi into my DAW and make the drums nice and spicy.
Guitar pro is the best for me, the only thing I struggle to make sound good is fast fills sound interesting and varied, but that’s probably down to being a guitarist and not a drummer
Feel free to add any of your own tips and tricks and any questions you have!
Dude thank you for making this video. Really informative and helpful without being overly complicated or douchy. I’m glad I found your channel.
I appreciate it! Sometimes I get a little complicated, but I definitely try not to be douchy lol

I finally got to watch it. Phenomenal video Nick
thanks!
Nice tutorial! Your final mix, especially the drums (Ugritone), sound really good! 👌🔥
thanks! I did that mix first, so I do like it slightly better than the others

I still use it once in a while, mostly just for tabs, but yeah, when you get the muscle memory and midi notes down you can go pretty quick!
Great tutorial Nick , thank you .
good tutorial thanks man
glad you liked it, Lee!

fills can be tricky, playing around with velocity, aside from the actual timing, can really bring a fill to life!
Great tutorial! Really dig it 🤘
thanks!
