Dude seriously, that was how am instructional video (no matter how simple the install is) should be done in my opinion. It wasn't dry but funny and extremely informative even for something so simple. For example: hammering the metal back. IDK how to explain it without sounding like a (insert flagable term here) but it's true. Keep it up brother 👌🏻
I was thinking that a peephole would be simple to install. Was not sure. However, after watching your great little video, I feel 100% confident I can handle this project. Thanks much!
Great video and instructions! Thank you so very much! I need a peephole in our front door and after watching your video I know I can do it and I'm only 82 years young! After typing this thank you note I believe I will get me cold brew before I begin. Thanks again!!
loved it, I had all the materials to install it today, including a couple of really cold beers, but I forgot to buy the peephole from the Home Depot lol. Back in a minute!
We’ve been doing a lot of DIY around our house and one thing I really wanted to add was the peephole. I googled “How to install a peephole” and your video popped up. I thought it was hilarious how you added some comedy into it. There’s nothing like watching boring DIY videos. I watched it, read the instructions, and completed the job in only 3 minutes, with a side of wine. Thanks a lot! I don’t see how people could put a thumbs down. The video was informative, comical, and it got the job done. 👍🏻
Omg Brian, I was actually looking at videos trying to find out what kind of people I wanted for my house and I stumbled across this old gem. Keep on wrenching buddy.
Stumbled on this video and was surprised when you gave the lawn care nut a shout out . I watch his videos religiously. Nice video. Gave me the confidence to try it myself.
Was legitimately on Home Depot and Lowe's website looking to replace the whole door! LOL! So glad your video popped up! Going to guide my son to do the installation this weekend. Thank you.
New sub here! You made this enjoyable, entertaining, and easy to understand! I can't wait to do this to my front and back metal doors! I think I'll enjoy a beer afterwards LOL
Great, humorous and useful video. Perhaps you should also have addressed the issue about the ‘thickness’ of the door vis-à-vis the maximum length of the peephole barrel. I bought one peephole online which turned out to be too short for my ‘thick’ door and also too small for the existing hole made for the original peephole that I was trying to replace.
Measure door thickness. Then go to store and buy peeper and correct size drill bit that is stated on the package: "Bore size". And min and max door thickness.
I am having a hurricane impact door installed to complete my protection, having installed hurricane impact windows. I am concerned that installing a peephole could void the warranty of the door. What is your experience with hurricane impact door security?
Important. Before drilling…PLEASE make sure nobody is on the other side of it. Post a note in large enough letters, warning they don’t approach too closely to read it, when you are about to drill. Or get construction barrier tape. Loved this.
Just found you! I’m replacing my peephole with a larger peeophole (5/8 bit). It’s a wooden door. The existing hole has a peephole and is obviously much larger than your pilot hole. Can I just buy a 5/8 bit and drill halfway through both sides? I’m afraid the larger hole will rip apart and not be clean
@@KeepOnWrenching though I want to thank you because I did use this video as a very large tool over The weekend for my own installation. I used the spade bit I ended up getting a 9/16 which is what my device called for. Spade was $5 vs a 20$ bit. however it was on a metal, insulated door.. I understand that mit really shouldn’t be used on metal but it ended up working out great I wish I could send a picture.
Do you are an absolute trip. I think it will be much easier doing home projects learning them from you. I was looking to figure out how to put a peephole in my door and I got a comedy act along with instructions on how to put a peephole in. And a big thanks for showing me all the safety equipment I should wear well doing this
Actually, it's probably better to select a height based upon what you can see on the outside rather than your heights on the inside! In case there's a girl scout selling cookies out there or if your door is two concrete steps above ground level like mine is. Plus, if you have kids eventually or sell the house to someone who has them, they might need to be able to see out as well.
Great point depending on various setups. The viewers do have a very high range of vision through. I’m not sure how much impact small variances in location would impact overall viewing. Point well taken though! Good luck with your install. Go get it!
You’ll have to get it to unscrew. Look for those two notches. If you can get it separated you should be able to carefully drive out the shaft. You will need to get it apart though. Unless it is like sealed into the door. Not sure what you’re dealing with.
Kym Luong the pilot hole can be any smaller bit. The hole for the actual peephole needs to match the bore of the product you buy. The packaging is usually very clear about that. Check you packaging and buy the appropriate bit.
For sure! No need for one of those fancy electronic ones. The old school peephole will work even when the power is out and costs less than 10 bucks. Thanks for watching!
No gloves? "This is really sharp metal here, let me run my finger over it, but my helmet is protecting me from falling debris". Great video man, thanks.
Ya. Great video but one of the worst things I’ve done in my house. Couldn’t see the drill bit when it was in the door. Broke out a rubber mallet. Dented the door on both sides. So recommend long enough bit to see if it’s level.
79dogface oh no! That’s an easy fix though. Just remove and replace the broken pane in the screen door. Usually held in with a few brackets that can be removed with a screwdriver. Minor issue! At least you’ll end the day with a new peephole!
On a serious note, I am unsure you need to hammer the screwdriver. It might be sufficient to use the screwdriver as a lever and it would make it real tight without the risk of leaving a mark on your peep hole.
I wish I could like this twice. I don't care how old this video is.
I wish you could too. :) Good luck with your peephole installation!
@@KeepOnWrenching Done and over. Only 2 beers in though.👌🏻

Not You I really appreciate that. It was a fun video to make.
I was thinking that a peephole would be simple to install. Was not sure. However, after watching your great little video, I feel 100% confident I can handle this project. Thanks much!
Good luck! I hope it goes well. Enjoy your new peephole and thanks for watching!
You didn't use your safety equipment,",. DUMMY

Sarah Floyd so glad you enjoyed it, Sarah. Congrats on becoming a proud peephole owner! Nice job!
I think I am almost ready to attempt this. Thank you so much.
You got this!!
Thanks for the shout out - you could be the Bob Ross of DIY ya know?
Very informative and mixed together with a little humor! You helped break my door peep hole install cherry! And I didn't destroy the door. Well done!
+w fen yay! Happy to hear the project went well. :)
you forgot to wear a cup incase the debris skyrocket toward your junk
Great point! Noted. Lol
Silent Slasher I'll see if I have some laying around the house. Lol
Funny Video - BUT I was not in a laughing mood.
fair enough.
What happened after your break? Forgot your protective gear?
Exactly how I figured it would be. thanks for the bit size. That's all I really needed.
Excellent.
Best instructional video ever
Thanks, Tek! It was fun to put together.
Great teacher. You explained everything really good
Yaneiza Perez thanks so much! Good luck with your installation.
Thanks for the video I was looking for inspiration to install a 'peep hole' and your video popped up, i am going to install mine right now! Cheers!
Nice!!!
American? Am confused because you have relatable humour. Many thanks. Lol.
Lol

Lol. That’s an oldie but a goodie.
Your video is very thorough. We've never installed a peephole before that's why I'm glad we watched your video. Now I feel more confident. Thank you.
That's why I made the video! :) Thanks, Daisy!

David Galvez LCN and I are friends. His stuff rocks. Glad you stumbled across the video! Go make your peephole dreams happen!
Great vids! and your voice is a good match with Jack Black's
People keep saying that!
I am a fan of Sierra Nevada, good job I am doing one for me one for my grands. Thanks good humor!
wasn't so confident at first, but now I am; thanks for the humor too!
It's easy! You can do it. I make it seem a lot harder than it is. Lol. Good luck and thanks for watching.
Awesome, thank-you so much, I'll definitely install my peep hole now!!!!
You got this!

Love the intro dude.
Ha! Thanks.
Fun and entertaining. Thanks for the great video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks Brian. Great watch and funny too. I’m ready to get started. 👌🏾
Understudy for Curly Howard. Great job!
I loved the video! Thanks for that!
Glad you enjoyed it.
Love the intro about needing a beer or 6😂
It’s the truth! Lol
If I use a peephole as a light indicator in toilet doors, how can I install a frosted /difussed glass( for privacy) instead of a lens?
I don’t think they come apart.
Great video man! Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it.
Nice job. Thanks for the laughs, too.
I hope you had a successful peep hole installation.
You made me laugh with that helmet! Thanks!

You’re welcome
Great video! and great beer choice.
Zach Brooks thanks!!
I am having a hurricane impact door installed to complete my protection, having installed hurricane impact windows. I am concerned that installing a peephole could void the warranty of the door. What is your experience with hurricane impact door security?
I live in the north. I have no experience with hurricane doors. I agree it could void a warranty. Ask the manufacturer.
Hello why are we drilling from both sides with the bigger drill? What would be the problem if you only drill from one side, all the way through?
You don’t want it to breakout. Better to keep the damage on the inside!
Important. Before drilling…PLEASE make sure nobody is on the other side of it. Post a note in large enough letters, warning they don’t approach too closely to read it, when you are about to drill. Or get construction barrier tape.
Loved this.
Brilliant idea. OMG I could have injured someone else. How selfish of me! Thank you. You’re obviously a fabulous human being. Lol
Great! Do you have a video for replacing switch covers? I have to do the whole house... 12 pack?
Case of beer at least and a flat screwdriver. As you go you’ll become more confident. :)
Great Video !!
Thanks!
Just found you!

I’d carefully ease up in sized and use tape on both sides. Attack slowly from each side to meet in the middle.
Love the lawn care nut!
Hilarious… thank you!!! Definitely started with a cold glass ale!!! 🍺
Nice!
Funny and informative.....well done!
JimBob Seeker thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Lol u didnt put thr helmet and mask back on.
Oops. Lol
LOL! I was thinking of the same thing.
Will Corona work if I don’t have any Pale Ale?
No. Your project will end in failure.
Thank you! Funny AND informative :)
Glad you enjoyed it and found the info helpful. Thanks for watching! :)
Great video 👍
Thanks!
Educational AND entertaining!
So glad to hear that. Thanks for watching. Good luck with your peephole install. You can do it!
Thank you!
You’re welcome
i love how you stress the safety equipment, cut the scene to charge, and end up doing it with nothing on lmao
Whoops. Too many pale ales. Lol

My pleasure, man. Glad you enjoyed the video
what about size of drill bit bit chart?
is it too important or we can use little one and use big head one?
with metal pieces flying around, goggles are a must.
Helped me get my door peep installed. Only negative is I had to buy a helmet that I now have no use for.
Can I get this done if I only have 13 Coors light? I wasn't sure if the brand mattered?
I think 13 coors lights are an acceptable alternative. Good luck'
A “new peephole owner” 🥂😂
First the pilot bit is one inch and later 1/8-inch??? Did you proof-view your video?
good job man
Every time I look into a peephole I`m scared there will be a big eyeball looking back
Peter maybe one day there will be.
Great video!! 👍
Gave it a like after the 1st step was beer.
Seems legit. Beer matters.
LOLLLL he’s going to war? Lolll
Never can be too careful.
still waiting for my helmet to arrive from amazon - then we can rock and roll - great vid
Lol. Love the attention towards proper safety protocols. Go get it!
Are all the safety measures part of the joke or are they real because they all went out of the window after the beer break, lol.
It was a joke. Lol
Man this was really hilarious... Thanks for the laugh and education:)
kclayt88 I hope your very own peephole installation is flawless

Great vid.
I just bought that peephole from Lowes and you need a magnifying glass to read those instructions
Plus all the languages! Glad you found the video.

This vid was excellent. Hilarious!
Elysia Birschoff ha ha. Thanks for watching! Glad I could give you a laugh.
Could I this on a metal door???
It should. This was a metal door. Check with the manufacturer to be sure. Good luck!

Must be a damn good beer to have you putting on a helmet and not having a charged battery
Slight oversight. Beer was good. :)
You're funny, but effective! Lol😂😂👍🙌
Thanks for watching. I’m glad you enjoyed it. Good luck with your installation.
You gave me a laugh this morning, are you serious with that helmet on ! LOL
You only have one head! Danger is everywhere. ;)
All you actually need to screw it tight is a quarter... ;) I helped my dad installed many a peep hole when I was a kid...
Lizzie Borden great tip!!! Thank you!
so should be a quarter turn or half a round to properly do it>??
Parnit S a quarter as in a coin :-)
@@aaroncarson oh haha alright alright
Haha..you're hilarious! Thank you for making it fun..
Need 1 more beer
Couldn’t hurt!
Great video. You forgot your safety gear the second time around. Very funny
Rosie Alonzo thanks for watching...you're right. Major lapse of safety judgement. :)
I will definitely prep properly and have 🍺! 🤣
It’s essential.
Next, you should make a video on mending fences. See example at 3:30.
Lol. I really should...it is a mess. Thanks for the idea.
Great job on the video. Very funny!
James Gray thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
Like the video bit why use all the safety for the small drill bit but not for the rest maybe it was the pale ale lol
But thanks for the video
I blame the pale ales. Wasn’t thinking straight! Could have been seriously hurt. Good luck with your installation.
Perhaps next time drink the beer after
That’d be no fun!
Lol, the helmet. And on round two where did all your gear go?!🤣
I forgot. Lol. I blame the beer. :)
No gloves? "This is really sharp metal here, let me run my finger over it, but my helmet is protecting me from falling debris". Great video man, thanks.
My hole did not line up, not sure why my pilot hole didn’t help me.
It should have as long as it was drilled straight.

I'm guessing the six pack actually came with the helmet. The helmet made it for me.
Lol
