It was an amazing time to be alive. You had The Specials, Madness, SKA, Punk (The proper stuff not the pop stuff nowadays) Heavy Metal, New Romantics, Indie and so much more all over the place and seeing all these bands on TV and live was just amazing :) :)
I'm 58 I was at the recording of the first LP in Fulham my mum worked at the launderette above the studio,got Elvis Costello's autograph,I wasn't aware of the band but they were lovely and definitely different,I had a tonic jacket which they said was cool ,I had a damned badge on the lapel ,and wore the jacket as it was passed down from a Jamaican lady's boys down our street,Sunday suits but proper mohair tonic one suit blue and green the other orange and brown which was smaller so wore both for a few years, looking back I was very lucky although we didn't have a penny It was amazing growing up in west London ❤🇬🇧

One of the baddest, most creative, and groundbreaking bands in music history! These cats The SPECIALS are still influencing kids in the 21st century over forty years later. Innovative and timeless! RIP John Bradbury and Terry Hall. We will miss you both.

Wonder what the story is behind this song. I heard Bernie Rhodes name mentioned a few times in the song. Bernie Rhodes was a long time collaborator and manager of The Clash.
I'm only 20 and man the Specials are elite level for me. Wish I could time travel to the UK in 1979 to experience this show.
