I bought Skyrim on a whim when I went to Target one day. I didn't know anything about the game, just saw the accolades on it. I went home to play on my xbox 360 and boy was I in for a surprise. My first play through after leaving Helgen, I took Roriks words literally and went the opposite direction of him. I didn't get my starting standing stones perk, I just, you know, went on an adventure. This was before I knew how to access the quests and everything, so I just went to every location I possibly could and explored it. Skyrim is still my favorite game to date. I really hope they don't mess up Elder Scrolls 6.
That’s what I did with Oblivion in the summer of 2008 (7/7/08, because I have a bad habit of remembering dates). Saw it in the bargain bin at Target, remembered reading magazine articles about it when it came out a couple years earlier, so I picked it up and ended up playing straight through the night (since I was 15 and it was summer break).
@@YankeeBlues21 I picked Oblivion up when I was like 9 years old. My english was very bad back then but I loved making characters and exploring so much. My first open world game wil forever stick in my heart. I have so many great memories even though I don't remember making a single quest.
As the Dovakin, it was your duty to protect the world from Alduin the World Eater, it's has been several years since his defeat and many more scores of just as powerful foes have fallen by your hands. You reach the true end to your journey, no mere mortal would dare to attack you now, you are a god amongst men and beast alike. You return to where your journey began and summoned countless dedra, dragons, and beasts as one last challenge. You do not plan on winning, instead you plan to fight with all hell unleashed for one last time, for even you know that for a new adventure to begin, yours must end.
No...it cannot end here, skyrim and her people now rest easy because of our conquests. But now....now our eyes must breach the horizon of this great land. With the blood of dragons it is our duty nay...our direct birthright to do what saint elesia herself did so long ago and tiber septum before us. We must take back our land...our home from the elves who threaten mankind once more. We must unite the nation's to strike back against the elven threat and force them away for good once and for all. Then....and only then when we sit upon the ruby throne will our journey end. For in our final moments we will decree a new land a new peace....a new....tamriel.
Following the death of the dragon born (assuming you did everything) there would be a serious cosmic war for your soul. IT belongs to every deadric prince and divine by the end of your journey. Since the dragon fires are no more, that would make tamriel and nirn quite the warzone between the servants of the Aedra and the legions of the various planes of oblivion. Would probably make the oblivion crisis look like a nice picnic. Maybe alduin was not the world eater afterall, maybe he was just the herald of the end times. The time when you would come, live, and die, then the world would be torn apart by those who seek to claim you. Then reborn once more.
@@sangralknight3031 for some yes. But nay not I fair traveller, for my soul belongs to the father of all that lives beneath his grace Akatosh. When I pass I will be welcomed among the nine as the next Talos and carry one his legacy as his successor. Long live Tamerial and long live the empire.
@@KingLIFEDRAIN Empires are meant to start anew. Alessia founded the first, Tiber the third. Maybe it is time for a fourth servant of akatosh to lead tamriel back to the light.
I was listening to this while walking my dog, and at 1:19 a strong wind blew my jacket like a cape. It felt like Kynareth herself was hinting at my destiny as Dragonborn.
the grammatically correct way to say that is 'you can never play Skyrim for the first time again" (thanks to @Tavish for pointing out a spelling error on my part)
I somewhat imagine the mother who, not knowing the child would be the Dragonborn, was singing this to her child while being pregnant and later as a lullaby too.
Every time i hear this i think a of a mother singing it to her baby as shes rocking him. And in the mothers mind is images of the dragonborne on quests
Well yea but when the horse thief starting saying his blessings he said “akatosh” alduin is akatosh’s first born. So maybe akatosh was answerings his prayers.
I was 13 when I first started playing Skyrim . I was in a bad place mentally . Hearing this song for the first time helped me greatly to get through the past 6 years
Whenever I hear this beautiful song, I go outside, and look up at the sky. And there’s my character. She smiles down at me, and says, “Thanks for the journey, friend.”
I still haven't played it but I finally got a decent pc and since the elder scrolls 6 has been announced I think I'll buy skyrim anyway as it's a masterpiece well known in the world of gamers, like the Witcher 3 ( which I played and loved to this day).
I watched my brother play it when it first came out years ago and now that I myself have became a gamer (and remember the elder scrolls games) I got Skyrim. Though it was at the beginning of the year it’s now my favorite game of all time. It’s the only game I’ve been playing (a side from PUBG on mobile when I get bored).
I have never played it and rn I think I wouldn't love it as much as everyone does. Idk Skyrim to me is a regular rpg with characters who ask you to do things with a face that doesn't fit their voice, and you just kill monsters in order to get xp and upgrade your stuff . Anything you could tell me to change my mind and make me wanna play this game ?
@Neil Perrin It's a lot more than that, you play a key role in not only the story but in Skyrim's survival in general. The quests are varied and unique (even the side quests are fun and unique) so you won't get bored of them. There's multiple groups you can join (dark brotherhood, companions, thieves guild, etc) that have their own interesting and fun quest lines too. You can even partake in the war between the Imperials and Stormcloakes and bring victory to whichever side you choose. My favorite part about the quests are that they're not forced on you... for example you could read a book about a famous warrior and afterwards his tomb will be marked on your map then you can go kill him and take his famous blade for your own. You can literally do anything you want whenever you want to. Plus now you can install mods for it that can do anything but I recommend just playing without them for your first time. I mean there's a reason this game is seen as one of the best games of all time, it's much much more than your simple RPG. I could list so much more but then this comment would turn into a novel.
The Sragon Doul gives him power over the Th'um and unrivaled strength, stamina and will, beyond what any normal man could achieve at that level. However, the Soul does not make him immortal, as dragons themselves are mortal.
I was like 11 when I played this game for the first time. I'm almost an adult now and still think it's a masterpiece. A wise philosopher said on the matter of this game "it just works"
You know, I normally don’t comment on any videos on this account, but I have a similar experience. I showed my father this song and he loved it. But now he is in a nursing home, and I am so sorry for your dad. May he Rest In Peace. He’s in a way better place honey.
I like to think this is playing when the dragonborn has done all quests, saved the world, won the war and has finally settled down in old age in a humble home. Just smiling quietly while remembering the many adventures they had.
No their dragon blood prevents them from ageing. One day they will finally fall victim to a dragon (or bandit) and find their home in Sovngarde, where they play Gears of War 4 for the rest of eternity.
Even if you no longer play Skyrim - may your ballads be sung and echo through the vast Hall of Valor, and your legends be told all across Tamriel. Everyone waits for your return... _Dovakhiin._
so ummm i have a question you know i am late for the party so i just started playing good games and i just finished witcher 3 for the 5th time and i have a question is skyrim really worth it at this time?
Immortal Omnipotent Deity everyone can, they even let lurbuk graduate, lurbuk is officially the worst bard of tamriel in the fourth era, and you can find him in skyrim
Last time I listened to this song I could perfectly match her voice..now...now its much deeper and I can happily say that I grew up (and still growing up) with Skyrim and its artists
I feel a surge of emotion that overwhelms me with thoughts of calmness, sadness, memories and happiness all in one. This truly is one song, for the ages
@Mr.Dibujines Some good has come from it. Case in point: Toss a Coin to Your Witcher. Also, Henry Cavill as Geralt was a good cast. But yeah, the Netflix Witcher series lost a lot of the book's charm, since it didn't often set things up properly, because it kept trying to focus on three storylines at once. Honestly, the best episode so far was the Djinn episode, because it was the one that actually took ALL aspects of the book/story into account. Maybe if they'd focused entire episodes on each character's stories (in chronological order), it would be a better series.
@Sebastian Mirzakanian Sonic and GOTG proved that CG animals can work when done properly. Netflix just needs the right artists and budget to make it happen
This song is timeless. It reminds me of so much, the afternoon I watched my cousin playing skyrim back in 2012 with a very weak PC and the days back in college years when I played skyrim late into the cold November night. Then time rushing by, graduation, my brother's wedding, pandemic, long-lost friends... It's hard to explain everything with how skyrim intertwined with my life at some point. Given time, I would pay a visit to Bannered Mare, take a seat and listen to Sinmir's complaints about security.
I would sing this to my children at night. I'd even teach it to them if they wanted. This song has such a significance to the game as a whole and the vocalist is AMAZING.
I sing it to mine, and my siblings as well. They all even join in to sing it to my son. We even sing the dragon tongue parts. It's pretty awesome. My son loves it.
A game that always felt like a alternative world where you can get lost in and have adventures throughout the journey. Truly is a masterpiece. Skyrim is emotion , Skyrim is sweet memories.

@@M4A1BestGirl Dragonborn: killed a world ending threat, slew another dragoborn who sundered the earth in two with their voice who had centuries to prepare in a labyrinthine library of nigh unlimited knowledge, and has a bow that has the power to blot out the sun Sole Survivor: angry dad with mini nukes and power armor, I guess doesn't seem like all that much of a competition to me lmao
@Bonana-xw1jq No but let's assume for the sake of argument that there's some kind of lore connecting the Bethesda games together somehow. For example, every major Bethesda character is depicted as the most badass character ever. Yes even Nate and Nora. Why? To put things into perspective, in Fallout 4 your chances of surviving in the wasteland are essentially nil. But through sheer force of will, the sole survivor basically says "Screw logic. It's time to rip and tear." Which tells me that there's some kind of family tree involved and it all starts with the Dragonborn. Nate does not have the best genetics, but is still a badass in his own right. In other words: Dragonborn➡️Blazkowicz➡️Doomguy➡️Sole Survivor Notice that the family tree periodically devolves for whatever reason. Nate is not the strongest out of his ancestors, but is still stubborn enough to survive.
@@M4A1BestGirl I doubt that they are connected so easily. I think the closest you're gonna get is that Paarthurnax mentions that the end of the world leaves room for the next. If Mundus were to end, there is a possibility that among the next would be the world that is Earth (Fallout), but then there would be no plausible connection between the sole survivor and the dragonborn. The only one I could possibly see being a descendant of the dragonborn in Fallout is The Chosen One, since he defeated Frank Horigan and is from the tribe that the main character from Fallout 1 starts after he is kicked from the vault.
I've gotten requests from friends to sing the title screen song- which is in Dovahzul, and it amazes every time. I once got the entire back of my school bus to sing the bard songs with me: Ragnar the Red, Age of Agression, and the like.
Thanks, to both of you. Skyrim is one of the greatest games of all time, in my opinion, and it is amazing to see the numerous emotions it invokes in so many people.
I’ve been playing Skyrim forever and believe me when I say even after almost 10 years, it’s one of the most fun games I’ve ever played. Amazing storyline, memorable characters, massive open world, and most importantly, magic and dragons! What’s not to love?
I find it really ironic how this song praises the Dragonborn but literally everyone in the game just treats you like shit, even 10 years old fucking farmer boys.
Whenever I get bored of Skyrim, I listen to this song a few times and it makes me enjoy it again, it brings back all the awesome and buggy moments that make me laugh, so I keep coming back to it.
Your eyes close and your vision fades, hours pass and you open them. "Hey, you. You're finally awake." Edit: now that I think about it... Something about Skyrim really does make you go back to the game. Really means the developers did something right and put a lot of love into it.

“Rise. It’s time. This moment has been a long time coming. You know that you’ve been chosen. You know you can’t keep running. Stop spinning in circles and start believing in the magic, of who you are meant to be. Spread your wings, and don’t forget to take flight. You’ve been growing them stronger since the start of your life. You only get one chance at this; so honey, let’s get it right. You have the power inside you to soar. Don’t ever give up the fight. Dig down deep and find it inside; all of this power you’ve taught yourself how to hide. Call it to the surface. It’s right there, in your mind. Only you can fulfill your destiny and purpose. Brave girl, it is time to fly.“

Beautiful

I wish I could experience Skyrim for the first time again. I envy those ignorant gamers who haven't experienced it yet...
Plahdo they r noob...
After eight years, i still get emotional listening to the music, pure nostalgia.
E' vero, e' un po' nostalgica...
This is sung perfectly for the Dragonborn's funeral procession.
The dragonborn is immortal
No he is mortal, the dragon soul doesn't fully make him immortal.
The Sragon Doul gives him power over the Th'um and unrivaled strength, stamina and will, beyond what any normal man could achieve at that level. However, the Soul does not make him immortal, as dragons themselves are mortal.
Dovahkiin doesn't have a funeral cause he never dies
And also he/she is Shor, the Dragonborn probably re-ascended to godhood and retakes Shor's throne in Sovengarde.
I was like 11 when I played this game for the first time. I'm almost an adult now and still think it's a masterpiece.

No their dragon blood prevents them from ageing.

Be careful what you ask for...

There's still the debate of who would win between the Dragonborn and the Sole Survivor.
In my headcanon the Dragonborn is Nate's ancestor.
@@M4A1BestGirl Dragonborn: killed a world ending threat, slew another dragoborn who sundered the earth in two with their voice who had centuries to prepare in a labyrinthine library of nigh unlimited knowledge, and has a bow that has the power to blot out the sun
Sole Survivor: angry dad with mini nukes and power armor, I guess
doesn't seem like all that much of a competition to me lmao
@Bonana-xw1jq No but let's assume for the sake of argument that there's some kind of lore connecting the Bethesda games together somehow.
For example, every major Bethesda character is depicted as the most badass character ever. Yes even Nate and Nora.
Why? To put things into perspective, in Fallout 4 your chances of surviving in the wasteland are essentially nil. But through sheer force of will, the sole survivor basically says "Screw logic. It's time to rip and tear."
Which tells me that there's some kind of family tree involved and it all starts with the Dragonborn.
Nate does not have the best genetics, but is still a badass in his own right.
In other words: Dragonborn➡️Blazkowicz➡️Doomguy➡️Sole Survivor
Notice that the family tree periodically devolves for whatever reason.

HOW DO YOU CLICK THE LIKE BUTTON MORE THAN ONCE!?!?!? I got the chills when she sang in Dragon Tongue

It was so perfect i could believe she actually speaks dragon's tongue fluently.

Check out her remastered version, she sing the intro and this song while playing a lute
Pretty sure she's a dude or was a dude
What's so beautiful of the song is that it's a song about faith and believing. He's not there, no one knows if he's coming, but the hope dies last.
Damn she can speak the language of the dragons
So can I! It took me a bit but i figured it out

“I am the Dragonborn, protector of Skyrim, hero of the innocent, slayer of dragons, destroyer of vampires, master of the voice, a powerful werewolf, a honorable mage, a proud mighty father, and a beloved husband”
J-Sama1990 I am a vampire...
Yeah fuck vampires and werewolves
As you should be. Raise your kids to fight with you. Teach them the reason why you fight. And make sure it's OK with your partner in the process. :D
Fight on, you are the hero Skyrim needs.
...And an assassin
And you got arrested cuz you killed a chicken
