fun fact: i was terrified of Face as a child and hearing his voice again inspired a feeling of dread in me that I couldn't explain until I remembered. Please, someone tell me I wasn't the only one.
@@KuroiNoOu Wasn't scared of him back in the day, but he bears an uncanny resemblance to Marshie from Homestar Runner. So much so that it makes him creepy in retrospect, I'm certain that the latter was based on him.
Ok. This was a good look at Eureakas Castle. I can't wait till you actually get to the 90's Nick stuff. Especially the preschool stuff(Blues Clues is about to be your holy grail, with the reboot happening very soon). We have a long way to go before we get there(it blows my mind that were still in 82 ish) but be prepared to watch a lot of Nick Game Shows. I'll consider this my preview to the Nick Jr stuff). Merry Christmas and Happy new year.
Wow this takes me back. I recall the scariest Eureks Castleepisode with this monster that just wanted to belong somewhere, but the way they portrayed it was frightening to a child. That was almost 30 years ago lol. SOme of the other shows occasionally had halloween episodes that were good too, and the hsows overall made the 80s and 90s one of the best decades in human history. Plus, the golden age of video games! ^~^
That really is a wonderful way to sum up up the holidays. Amazingly well-put. I love seeing my name in the patrons. Every video you make is a treasure and Nick Knacks continues to be some incredibly important historical and educational work you're doing here, topped off with your special way of making it all utterly captivating. I might even be able to increase my pledge soon! :D Hope you have an excellent holiday.
Eureeka's Castle was way before my time (about 10 years) but I do remember Gullah Gullah Island! Thank you for reminding me about it! Have a Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays PopArena!
Happy Chrismahanakwanzaa to one and all! (Anyone else remember that promo?) Eureeka's was one of my early TV faves, mostly because it reminded me of Sesame Street, and especially because of the Rock Slurms, who I thought were so darn cute and expressive. Guess Nick wanted to keep a Pinwheel-type program in their wheelhouse, eh?
I love this special. The simplistic premise definitely gives it a unique charm and it still gives off a nice holiday vibe. I do have a lot of nostalgia for this special. I think I watched that VHS tape recording of this special for at least ten years before the tape stopped working. But I still think that the special is a good way to have more Christmas fun during the holiday season.
I would have really loved a video on the Rugrats Hanukkah special. Or maybe even Passover when we get there. They did specials on Holidays that don't get the same level of attention and I really appreciated them for that. Hopefully another year. I also can't tell you how surreal it is to see Face again.
I think in these cases, there's room for both the Rugrats Hanukkah special and a Christmas special, considering they're two different celebrations for two different things. I'm pretty sure one of the Nick shows did a thing for Kwanzaa too (but I don't know of anyone who celebrates it).
I will definitely admit being born in the late 90's that Eureeka's Castle was very much before my time but it is also hard to deny what a likable low key special this one truly is. Also, that tease regarding how nearly every major Nick show had a Christmas episode moving forward is painfully accurate (just the animated ones PieGuy reviewed back in 2013 adds up to about twenty on their own)
As I watched the video I began to recall their faces of the characters as they’re presented. I had no idea Stone was behind it. I remember watching this show on the regular; don’t recall having seen this special in particular though.
You summed up why I loved this special, now and as a kid so much. It was nice and simple. It felt more like I was having a Christmas with my friends rather than looking in on someone else's Christmas. It also felt more like a real Christmas to, it was something I could relate to more because when family gets together, sometimes squabbles happen and you need to make up. Smaller, quieter specials like this always seemed to capture the real meaning of the holiday like this for me more than one's like PeeWee's, as much as I loved PeeWee. Even though my pledge on patreon has been less consistent than I'd like it to be because of financial woes, I'm glad I was able to swing it this month to help fund this episode. Great job as always.
Thanks for helping me remember this show. I was a little to old to watch this when it aired but saw it anyway because there wasn't much on in the area we lived in. I had the Eureeka and Magellan hand puppets from Pizza Hut back in the day also, missed Batley though. Oh there appears to be a Halloween Special for this show as well. So I guess a future "Nick Knacks" special episode?
Hey hey hey "Hey Dude" is always first in my heart. Brad was flexin like a Karen way before it was a thing. And Mr. Ernst getting a Santa 10 gallon hat was quite impressive.
Still watch that one every year. Pee-Wee just being his nutty self with all the guest stars and decorations makes for a fun hour of Christmas cheer. Plus what he does with all the fruitcake he got. "I was being creative, I used my imagination! Ha ha!"
@@TheEman590 And Pee-Wee had shirtless construction men making his fruitcake house extension. XD Floory asked Miss Yvonne to stand over his face XD Who knew Majic Johnson was Magic Screen's cousin!
Merry Christmas poparena. I did paied you 20$ for making a review of krampus 2015. 🎄 Did you get the note or would you prefer I give you something Else to review ? 🙂🎅 Hopping to hear from you. Thanks
This was the first Christmas special? Didn't Double Dare do a Christmas episode in its first season? It's hard to find, but clips exist on the "Messiest Moments" video where adults (the contestants' parents, I think) would perform the physical challenges while the kids would just answer questions. Marc Summers wore a Santa hat during the episode and Christmas trees were placed around the set. While writing this, I found the full 1986 episode on DailyMotion at www.dailymotion.com/video/x6sy0ie
6:20 Then some forze to death, while others ate the surviving to keep alive...yeah Nick Jr. was really dark then. Hey R.L. Stien was the writer back then.
Eureeka's Castle? Oh you mean that dimestore "Pinwheel" imitation that Nickelodeon produced in the early nineties that was supposed to supersede everything about the original? Yeah okay.
I had not seen or heard Face in a long, long time.....
Oh, the nostalgia. Thank you Greg, and you have yourself a wonderful Christmas.

I was too old by then to be scared but I fully believe it's possible. Especially on the larger widescreen TVs people have nowadays.

I grew up watching Eurekas castle on Nick Jr when they had Muppet babies and Gula Gula Island. I loved this show

I agree with you on most of the music in the special being pretty forgettable, but “Put It On The List” is a real bop!

Yes.
Wow Mr. Stine. As shocking has his love for Disney
Eureeka's Castle was pretty much an update of what Pinwheel did before, perhaps a lot better because the series didn't last 5-6 hours a day.
Eureekas castle
Face usually spends Christmas with his cousin, Butt.
Oh, it's the stinger on the tape! I was confused at the end when Face mentioned the special because I thought he hit Nick Jr. a few years after it.
Holy crap - I didn't remember the name or tune at all, but I remember that bat! And Eureeka :O
Remember that bat and eureeka
I have only heard of this show from RL Stein but still good work
Merry Christmas. I have paied you for making a review of krampus 2015. 🎄

Batly always meant to do that. He must have recessive cat genes.
Did something happen to your Moral Orel analysis? I can't seem to find it.

If you're talking about the series, Eureeka's Castle originally aired from 1989-1995.
@@stephenholloway6893 thank you thank you
Would you ever talk about Noggin. It’s what I watched as a kid. It would great if you do an in depth video on it.

Can you please maintain the original aspect ratio? A zoomed in 144p video doesn't look good on any level.
