Amazing song, first time we heard it, heard about this group, we were hooked. The 80s produced some of the most amazing music and this was one of them. Played it a few years ago for my daughter and she loved it, which shows that great music is timeless and ageless.
C'était en 83 je crois, les Cactus de Marka faisaient la 1ère partie. Brian m'a filé une bière backtage. Inoubliable pour moi cette bagarre entre Nick et Stiv !
It’s basically a tribute to both Deer Hunter and (especially) Apocalypse Now. The line “I’m puttin’ on weight for the Oscars” is about Francis Ford Coppola, who directed Apocalypse Now. At the time when they filmed that, he had a mental breakdown and got really fat, really fast.
@cath salazar - have you seen the documentary film STIV? I saw it on Netflix, was great. Some good footage of Stiv car surfing! Also, do you remember when they released Like A Virgin? It was the encore when I saw them at The Marquee and Stiv was in a white wedding dress with white pantyhose AND NO UNDIES!!
@cath salazar I’m with you about music from that era. I followed Hanoi Rocks around and Lords Of The New Church hung out with those guys so I got into them too. Stiv was brilliant live but very unpredictable but that’s what made him special. The whole of the band were brilliant, never dropped a note. Was really a serious glam boy in those daze, still am!! Hoping to have an album out by the end of the year, I’ll keep you posted!
One of the most overlooked bands I've come across. Discovered them through being a 'Dead Boys' and 'Damned' fan. They've got some great lyrical content, its catchy and just about works between punk / new wave / and goth. Rocks hard
I was at this gig. Filmed live for a tv show called ‘live from London ‘ I remember they did a warm up track first and Stiv said to the crowd “ok when we come back on, go fucking crazy like we’re the Clash or something”. The whole set we couldn’t hear the vocals and the crowd got pissed off and started yelling at the desk to fix it. The couldn’t give a shit, they just wanted to get things right for the broadcast. Shame. Great gig anyway. Brian James is a legend. Imagine creating the Damned and then being in the Lords?
Late 70's punk, LA, NY, ENG, AUS, wherevs. It's the best. I'll add a bit to your pile. The Germs, Radio Birdman, Blondie, Catholic Discipline, Black Flag, Joy Division, Wire, FEAR, and fuggin Television. And that's just the tip of the iceberg, right, Broseph! :)
@@thana1491 I’ll add to your list - The Saints 1976 (from Brisbane, with ‘I’m Stranded’, New York Dolls, 1973/4 with ‘Jetboy’, (Early) Tubes 74/5-ish (Quay Lewd), with ‘White Punks On Dope, Alice Cooper, 1971 with ‘I’m Eighteen’ (John Lydon sang this song as a rehearsal for The SexPistols and lastly but not leastly, Howard Devoto in his various guises but my fave is Magazine’s ‘Motorcade’ 1976/7/8, can’t remember, getting old, still a Glam Boy at heart though
I got into dead boys first...now I've just bought my first lords of new church album as they've all been released remastered...this is the song that stood out to me on the first album...stiv is great! He had a weird fucked up look that was cool for the kinda music he was doing...clearly a wreck head..but eh..why not..it wasnt that that killed him! Rip...
If you can find it, I HIGHLY recommend Cheetah Chrome's autobiography. So many fun Stiv stories, and so much depth. It really makes you know the guys from the beginning to end.
I find it my sad duty to simultaneously congratulate you on your taste, and offer consolations. This world is not kind to those who think and feel. ruclips.net/video/Xt5OZJ1LrbQ/видео.html
Saw Stiv try hang himself in Sac, through the mic cord up into the wood lattice above the stage and rung his own neck...we really though he was dead, just stood there and watched.

I never understood when people were so upset when John Lennon, Keith Moon or any other Rock Star passed, until Stiv Died. Then I got it. I still get a tear when I think about it.

@danielscissorhands I agree. The Lords were good but just not fucking amazing, the crowd response here kind of reflects that. A skagged up frontman never generates much energy. Unless it's Iggy with the stooges. But I did like them enough to buy their first album and seer them in 84. Maybe if they happened a few years earlier they'd have really shined.
Ett av dom bättre såg dom live 86 eller något sånt måst ha varit ett bra år för då såg jag även cramps samma ställe som jag första gången såg ramones som jag det året såg i London
KISS Alive eat your heart out! Stiv had to rerecord every second of his vocals, and most of his between song banter, from this show for the video release. I was disappointed when I first heard that, but now I'm glad we have a really good live document to remember them by.
dwightfartschrute Are you thinking of the live album, "Night of the LIving Dead Boys," because they overdubbed the vocals for that because Stiv purposely didn't sing into the mic because he was upset that the record company was forcing them to record that album. You may be right about this performance being dubbed. But how do you know for sure? It looks like it probably is overdubbed because of how messed up he is when he's talking vs how well he sings.. But where did you read that it is overdubbed? Just wondering.
You don't need to have read that it's overdubbed, it's just obvious because the movement of his lips doesn't match the sound you can hear! He's not even near the mic at around 3.30 but the voice carries on. He looks terrible, and I understand why the sound was retouched, but you can't deny it was done.
