Since CJD (Mad Cow Disease) came about which originated from the UK, the UK government took stringent measures to ensure that nothing like that would ever happen again which in turn meant that it has some of the strictest laws in place to ensure the beef is only of the highest quality and standard. This is why British beef tastes so good.

I LOVE Bleecker Burgers! The beef isn't just dry-aged, it's a custom blend butchered by expert independent butchers that's sourced from cows raised by independent farms. The cows are pastured where they graze outdoors rather than fed on feed. In America, that burger would be $30-50. Haven't even got to Bleecker's excellent business practices in how they support their own team.

as a Dutchman, "bleecker" reads like quintessential old Dutch (pre-1930s spelling rules)
(it means bleacher, and is now spelled "bleker", and pronounced more like "blayker", the name "blake" is pretty much identical to pronouncing "bleek" in dutch)
the connection is probably no deeper than it starting in bleecker street in NY, which has its name coming from people from the old Dutch Peter Stuyvesant colonies.
still, kind of fun to see those old dutch things still live on in names that are centuries old :D
very photogenic burgers they make around there, amazing presentation.

Love the fact you finally got to bleecker and yep they dry age there own blend of beef organised with Aubrey Allen butchers that also provide for the royal family. However I was lost at the wet age = pickling. Wet aging is also done where they seal the meat on a cryovac to allow the meat to age without losing moisture and doesn't need trimming before cooking so the loss from aging is minimal. Remains juicy and dare I say can keep the cost of a high priced meat lower to a consumer due to the less weight lost. But love the Vid

As a Scotsman Harry, you NEED to bring Joe up north to us Scot’s and sit him down for a nice set of Scottish dishes - or even just good burgers.
Cause seriously, you do not know love until you’ve had a well made burger with a nice layer of cheese, bacon and haggis ontop - or a side of sweet potato fries with a haggis brisket crumble and peppercorn/whiskey sauce over the top.
Or a good old Scottish fry up.
Or even more, a good old Haggis, Neeps and Tatties.
    - or mince and Tatties.
    - or a good old steak pie
And especially not had a good time until you’ve been to a nice family party or event and enjoyed an army’s load of stovvies.
Plus throw on a good old chippy deep fried Mars bar.
    Oh and the Scottish hangover cure too - way to do this, get absolutely pished, find nearest kebab place, order self a nice greasy kebab, proceed him with kebab eating as you go until around half is left (note throwing up your kebab and everything in your stomach is an optional pass time on the return home. Not recommended but it’s there) and also be sure to buy a nice big bottle of Irn Bru when inside the kebab place or if you are near a Spar, Sainsbury’s or side shop in the way home (especially aim for the good old 1901 bottle if you can get one);
Proceed home, fall asleep, complain to yourself the next morning about never drinking him buy immediately breaking that promise the same night, and enjoy your second day kebab (reheating is optional) and a nice bottle of Irn Bru (drinking straight from the bottle is recommended) and by the time you finish the bottle and are downing the remains of your kebab, you’ll notice that good old hangover has disappeared.
Note if this procedure fails, proceed to consume more alcohol as a hangover can only succeed if you ain’t pished, so returning to happy hour is but helping shove the hangover problem to later day you.

I’m talking back in the late 90’s, needless to say it’s no longer there as is the case with so many similar places in New York now replaced by the ubiquitous multi National chains. Oh, by the way, wet aging is a thing and it's not bringing or pickling meat. Quite simply, wet aged beef is packed in cryovac bags and stored in standard refrigeration for 3-4 weeks before being distributed for use. If your grocery store doesnt specifically say something is dry aged, it has been wet aged 100% of the time. Some places will deceptively market wet aged beef as, for example, "28 day aged" to try and lure unknowing customers into believing they are being sold dry aged beef.

As a guy in his 50s it seems strange to hear brit beef is the best. I still equate your beef with mad cow. Glad to hear your beef is the gold standard now.

I was in London around 2021, and went straight to Shake Shake because I haven't been to the States in about 15 years. All I remeber is sitting by the front window upstairs, with an underwhelming burger (but some good chicken), staring at Bleecker and regretting my decision so much

Lol. Yeah I find shake shack burgers to be tasteless, which is a shame because they look the part. The fries are nice though

As an American living in London Bleeker is one of my faves. I gasped when I saw the container because I knew it immediately. But I don't think UK Burgers are always better. I love shakeshack

This clearly shows the sheer lack of culinary skills. No salt no seasoning, why are you even cooking the meat then, eat it raw only. Only ingredients!!

I love the fries in shake shack but find the burgers to be tasteless, which is a shame because they look so good. I'd rather have a basic whopper with cheese

@@Joker-yw9hlI feel the opposite. Don't like this fries at all. I think they have better burgers than fries. Shakeshack is better in the US but I still think it's good in the UK. It depends on which one you go too. I think that the one in Covent Garden is better than the one on Canary Wharf imo.

Working near Charing Cross, having the original food truck for Bleecker St Burger underneath the Hungerford Bridge really was a great find. The burger and the angry fries are outrageously good.
