    Thank You for sharing - what amazing upgrade with your camera! We have exclusive photo workshop at the gardens I am associated with on photography our Holiday displays at night. This year we had our local Spine Doctor attend. We all started laughing, because half of the guest attending, were his patients. So many of us photographers have hip,leg and nerve issues. We feel your pain - very hopeful you work out the issues so you can get back to your creativity. Enjoy the Holiday season!

      Many thanks, I'm taking baby steps at the moment and trying to not aggravate it again.

    Lucky family of photographers😉. I hope the new Fuji will not become to heavy for a back that’s getting older (I know what I’m talking about). I wish you the best of times with your new one and I’m looking forward to see more results of your craftsmanship and more inspiring videos and thoughts.

    Great video. You often mention me when you discuss going to the Mark ii. I have no regrets about the 100s. It’s a great camera for all the reasons that you gave. In addition, I’ve seen other comparisons by Adam Gibbs and others comparing the two GFX versions. There are some feature differences that improve the usage of the Mark ii. What’s most important to me is image quality which is identical. I am a slow worker in the field, and I haven’t experienced this slow speed that photographers discuss. The autofocus is a little clunky but not enough to matter for me. I’ll upgrade at 150MP if I’m still around 😅😅😅😅😅😅

    Congrats on the new camera. Too bad for Christine loosing her 850 but it's gotta be an interesting blend of sad/ happy with the GFX. I certainly can relate to her feelings on keeping her files private. Great shots and I hope your sciatic nerve problems go away.

      Yeah, she was upset, but I found a way to make her happy. She’s an amazing photographer ❤️

    Nice video, Alistair. I love your reference @1:17 to the “ Dopamine hit” you get when using film sims in camera on your GFX. My sentiments (and feelings) exactly.

    wow the photographs of Kristin are mind blowin... i'm totally amazed, no wonder she won an award. I love your pano format shooting style, wish i can do the same with my nikon Z7II cause some time i would like to crop like that.

    I absolutely get the in the field dopamine hit on fujifilm cameras seeing that film simulation live. It definitely spurs me on to maybe stay out longer or try images I might not have normally. I’m shooting with their x-series for size weight as most of my images are taken during hiking nowadays.
    Hope your sciatica nerve issue improves, I’ve had a similar ongoing issue that flares after a long run, nerve flossing exercises has helped along with hip mobility and strengthening my glutes and hamstrings.

    Congratulations to both you and Ann Kristin👍🏻👍🏻
    Looking for more about your new camera and Capture One.
    Quick question: how much better do you find the higher resolution of the EVF, especially for us eyeglass wearers?

    • @Alister_Benn
      @Alister_Benn  9 месяцев назад +1

      The EVF is far superior, night and day

    You're a beast! oops the 100 is I mean 🙂
    I bought the 50S at the start of 2020 and loved it from day one. When the 100S came out I got bored waiting on stock and realized 50M pixies was enough for me. May this year I had an accident with my 50 and again thought "I need 100M pixels, then No I don't" so got the 50sii.
    I'm still delighted with it but love the IBIS, which the S didn't. I'm a Tripod all day long but started shooting more hand held, I'm a big Long Exposure user but loving getting 1/2 second hand held shots 🙃
    Anyway, thanks for the entertainment through the year, hope the back is on the mend and all the best to you both for the festivities and 2024!

    Sorry to hear about your back/hip/sciatica. Have had same issues since Cairngorms back-packing accident age 16 (the six has now moved a decimal point🙄.) I’m sure you’re getting all the help you need, occasional physios, walking, leg swings and pushing back to mobility best combo for me. Interested to hear you mention you use the Fuji sims as editing starting points - what are you using / viewing when you have the camera in the field/ are you switching sims / dynamic range / aesthetics then? I’ve used various systems and I think it’s an under recognised issue that the RAW shooting experience through viewfinders of non Fuji brands is quite disengaging versus Fuji. (You just have to look at the videos of other YT landscape togs increasing the exposure so viewers can see what’s on the back of the camera. ) I’m currently running Fuji XT and Sony FF side by side - can’t justify the heft of GFX as still travelling & backpacking - suspect my ideal would be a FF Fuji!

    Have fun with the new camera, you are wetting my mouth with that tool. Beautiful images I love the Panos myself. I am in morning over your wife's 850, I would be devastated with the loss of mine. Thanks again excellent video.

    Thanks Alister. Be keen to know why you moved from Adobe to Capture One to process your images. I get great results from my 100S when I start with a linear profile in ACR.

    Who's going to get the mark 3 tho :) After 5 years with the Sony a7R 11 I've just upgraded to the mark ivA and loving it along with the Sony 24-105 f4, my first ever zoom - like yourself now genuinely re-invigorated and that's a good thing.

    its a shame the bit rate loss in burst mode drops so much but the evf jump is much needed as the 100s 3.6m is just not good enough for 1000mp camera
    Also for me I dislike the jump to cf express cards as its just not needed for landscape
    I have the 100s and would love the mk2 to have a better evf & lcd and that would be for me the perfect camera
    if only they had a 100-400 lens now that would be just incredible

    Hello. Is the new surface coating on the camera body of the Fuji GFX 100II durable? Or is the coating more sensitive than on the GFX 100S.

    • @Alister_Benn
      @Alister_Benn  3 месяца назад

      Sure it’s durable, possibly more so than 100S

    Certainly a lovely camera…with the shallower depth of field with this medium format camera, have you found the necessity to focus stack more cpw the Nikon?

    • @Alister_Benn
      @Alister_Benn  9 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah, shallower DOF, and I do focus stack, but probably no more often than with the D850

    feel you r pain with the sciatica mate i had a limp for 6 months and lasted 5 years a nightmare short term i can suggest acupuncture if it gets nasty to relieve pressure and I've been using CBD oil for last 1 1/2 now and not had on reoccurrence since i started using it. Not sure if where you are has a medicinal canabis program but can highly recommend it . i haven't had to swallow a voltaren or advil in over a year. on the camera side I've been dreaming about medium format for a while and the new 100 @ and the Hasselblad xcd 100 but both systems seem to be shy on telephoto lenses ? i use my 100-400 for landscape panoramas and stitch how do you go when you need a longer lens i think the Fuji has the biggest at 250mm (198mm f/f )

    Alister, you are clearly trying very hard to make me considerably (financially) poorer! ... Btw, do you get any of the "cross hair" effect on that CPL/variable ND? My experience of variable NDs has not been good in that regard.
