From now on I will never be able to listen to "Warszawa" again without thinking, "I once went to Warsaw, on a train with Iggy Pop, what I saw from the windows of the train, it was depressing..." And I'm not complaining.
Impeccable voice acting. I thought it WAS Bowie having a laugh at himself and doing this video. To be able to impersonate both Eno and Bowie is impressive enough, but then to impersonate Eno and Bowie impersonating Derek and Clive, that's a whole 'nother fucking thing, holy shit!
+Elizabeth Kemble It's comedian and sometime BBC Radio 6Music DJ and funnyman Adam Buxton. Check RUclips for Adam & Joe podcasts and "Vinyl Justice". This also appears to be his own channel! lol tolhurst
davedave Brian said they used to continue their Dud and Pete routine for days on end , I think it went a bit like this ruclips.net/video/hvQq_tqB0jA/видео.html Brian Eno said that all the time they were working they were in fits of laughter. He once said that out of a 50 minutes session, 40 minutes of it would be spent rolling on the floor laughing. It seems Tony didn’t have much of a sense of humour about it lol
I played on Music for Films and also worked with T. Visconti. Your Eno could not have been more spot on! Excellent! I've watched this dozens of times. It really takes me back. Thanks.
@@AndyHarrisGoogle Visconti was not involved with Music for Films. And to be quite honest, he did not make a very big impression on me so much so that I can't even remember what project I was involved with him, but it wasn't anything with Bowie or Eno. Whatever it was, would have been in NYC at Mediasound and in the mid- late '70's.
I'm completely blown away with the genius of this video: cleverness, humor, tribute, simplicity... all of them in the perfect amount, none of them stepping on each other. And to see that so much effort and genius was put in the making of just a silly -but respectful- mock at the production of that epic song makes it an adorable piece of pop culture for me.
Toasters are avant garde printers with poor resolution. They print on bread, but they intentionally obscure the image to annoy everyone except the occasional religious types (who can clearly see that it's supposed to be a picture of Jesus and don't want any other guesses to the contrary).
Adam, you're work is bloody hilarious and brilliant beyond measure. But most amazing is Bowie's voice. I'm having a hard time believing that's not actually him. Same with Bob the Cobbler. His speaking voice has always been like medicine to me, and these voiceovers are on the money. Incredible
I just heard a repeat of Brian Eno being interviewed by Shaun Keaveny. I turned on in the middle of the interview so didn't know who it was but it was clear he sounded just like the Eno on this. When he said that at the time of "Heroes" they were just "playing" and having fun while recording the serious stuff, I was certain. Then Eno mentioned being Derek and Clive!
Same here. I looked at his Twitter and a few news channels were looking to interview him but he said no as he would probably just cry and that's not helpful to anyone ... This video is so great. If you search youtube he has a video of all the best bits of the Adam and joe podcast where they have referenced bowie and it's quite long :-)
I was listening to Music for Airports again this afternoon and the memory of this came back to me. I've watched it dozens of times over the years and it never ceases to make me laugh. Just recalling Eno saying "weird albums" and holding up the "music for bus stops" cover gives me a chuckle.
Freakin Brilliant in so many ways. Love the Derek and Clive reference, Oblique strategies cards that Eno used, OMG this is both hilarious and inspired. Sharing it with all my like minded friends. Kudos.
Love this! And you've perfectly captured how Bowie's accent managed to sound both seriously posh and "1950s East End" at the same time. More, please! Could we get one of Freddie and David recording in Montreux?
There isn't a single second of this that could be any better. Anytime I need to remember to smile, I only have to think of this. Thank you Adam, The Brothers McLeod and anyone else involved. Now, if you can just find time to make the movie, that would be splendid, thanks.
This little cartoon is an unexpected pleasure to see on RUclips and aside from being very funny is probably very close to the actual truth of how it was recorded. Lol
As a teenage Bowie super fan growing up in late 90’s Michigan, it was hard to find much of anything Bowie-related. I had to really dig. This would have blown my mind. The lore surrounding Low was my favorite slice of it all. I read and re-read those parts of his various biographies a million times. So, it’s such a treat to hear those morsels in this hilarious short.
Can't stop laughing....Oblique Strategies Cards and a train ride through Warsaw with Iggy Pop.Best Bowie impersonation ever. ROFL....Eno was my first love too.
This NEEDS to be on TV. Basically a cartoon series with Count Buckules voicing various characters. Including Bowie (obviously), Boggins, Ken Korda, and of course, The Queen.
I particularly love the understated, self-effacing, matey, British irony in this. It often passes unnoticed in British comedy. Subtle and very enjoyable. Thanks.
How about David meeting with shocked RCA execs who offer to buy him a house in Philadelphia if he'll record another "Young Americans"? We haven't heard that story enough!!
So good! Could you please do more David Bowie scenes? Maybe the time he kicked Jimmy Page out of his house? Or the when he played Young Americans to John Lennon and Paul McCartney?
The voice of David Bowie is spot on
Yes, I almost thought it was actually him. Do you know who it might be?
Extremely! I thought the same
Hermanubis it’s Adam Buxton
@@Lylodile Thank you! :)
As was the voice of David Bowie doing the voice of Dudley Moore 🤯
Can these animators please just make an entire series of "Bowie in the studio" cartoons? I would never ever need to leave the house again.
Yes!
I would watch them all 😭
Could really use those right now.
Oliver Franklin
PLEASE!!!!
Oliver Franklin and they would all have to end with the same phrase “no way, I’ve done two takes, stuff it up yer bum!” It would be brilliant
Tony Visconti sure does a lot more than I thought.
From now on I will never be able to listen to "Warszawa" again without thinking,
"I once went to Warsaw,

Mike Kiker Brilliant lyrics. Bowie is a poetic genius.
Sums up the entire album.
Lol. I love it.
Same here! Every single time. Sometimes even when I am not listening to Warszawa.
I sing this to myself daily

For sure he nailed it and it made my day
Yeah, the Bowie VA is absurdly close to real Bowie.
I hope he got to see this
Music For Bus Stops. That's when I totally lost my shit. This is great. Totally needed the laugh. :D RIP, Mr. Jones.
Too funny,right?
Agree! This is sublime. (“

That's lovely, thanks Tony. Okay, here we go.
Hmmm i wonder what tony visconi did on this record...
@@Jimmybarashkov Probably more than people think...
Every time I'm recording and there is reverb on my voice I definitely quote this :D
Adam Buxton doing an impression of David Bowie doing an impression of Dudley Moore as Derek. It's like Inception all over again.
davedave he should do an impression of David doing impressions of Marc Bolan , Lou Reed and Mick Jagger too, David was great at impressions.
davedave Brian said they used to continue their Dud and Pete routine for days on end , I think it went a bit like this ruclips.net/video/hvQq_tqB0jA/видео.html Brian Eno said that all the time they were working they were in fits of laughter. That David Bowie impression is impeccable.
Wow that Bowie's spot on.

That was my first thought, he would have found it hilarious.

I can guarantee that Tony Visconti because he said so in a recent online talk he did for my university. He loved it.

I wanna listen to the full version of “I’m in a scary cave with bats”
This deserves way more attention than it's received.
I'd love to see this as a full series on TV or some similar device.
A toaster is a similar device, with enough superlatitive theatricality to make it an excellent vehicle for such a project. A-wuzz-wuzz.
bulletproofblouse Someone should invent toasters that can also do 3D holograms while you are waiting for your toast.

I don't mean to brag, but my toaster is also a toast elevation device and even has a bread lowering function.
Toasters are remix devices for who think that baking is too mainstream.
that's just the shopping list, Brian

Fantastic.

Yeah I agree. This is third time since I discovered the video.
I'm a massive Bowie fan, and this had me rolling on the floor.
This is so perfect. The impressions are great, it’s fucking hilarious, and it’s really well researched.
Adam Buxton and Joe Cornish have been Bowie obsessives since they were schoolkids.

What a visionary Bowie was. Shuttup your face was recorded 5 years after Low. LMFAO
I'm so amazed by David Bowie voice, truly spectacular.

THE SHOPPING LIST FOR THE WEEKEND X'DDD I'm crying.
2:26 - I love how in all his Bowie vids there's always a little "woza woza" thrown in, like that's just a natural Bowie sound.
Let alone a "lolly beef, lorra lorra" part where the Queen makes an appearance...
I've been laughing at this video for the past year or so, sharing with friends etc. Now it's like a touching tribute. It makes me feel very sad..
This is phenomenal. The voice, the hidden wordplay and animations, homage to obscure Bowie trivia... Brilliant.
Some of the nicest pastiches came from Adam Buxton. My genuine first thought when I heard David Bowie died was how Adam Buxton was feeling.
