Dear Sally, SO WONDERFUL AS ALWAYS!!!!! Thank you for my absolutely favourite Chopin's "Tristesse" Etude and for an excellent soulful performance, my big "like-thumb up-upvote"153 and, of course, I've added this great video to my public playlist called "My Favourite Classical Music", again my best regards from Poland to America, have a happy day. Joanna
Hello Joanna, oh, thank you for another wonderful comment! You are a very kind and generous person, and I really appreciate your enthusiasm for these performance videos! (& the up-vote likes as well) :-) With many best wishes and blessings to you.
You play so beautifully. Your passion for the piano and reverence for those great composers who you honor by playing shines through every one of your performances. I'm moved to tears with each of your videos. Thank you so much, Sally Christian. You are a blessing.
Hello Matthew, wow, ... I am so moved to read your beautiful responses! Your words are a gift for me, and I thank you for your kindness and generosity. I choose carefully the repertoire for every video. Your acknowledgement means a great deal to me, as each piece I record has a deep place in my heart. I wish you all the best, and many blessings to you as well.
Hello Stephen, thank you for your beautiful words about this interpretation, and for articulating where music can take us. No matter what else may be going on around us and in the world, we can transcend and uplift ourselves through the listening and playing of this great music. We can be transported to a higher realm! Your generosity of spirit is always so appreciated. Many best wishes and blessings to you!
Nicely done! A truly moving, ponderous, and mesmerizing piece and performance. Additionally, I recently read and deeply appreciate your remarkably descriptive “about” tab-“...our purest essence...strength, comfort, beauty, and transformation...”-well put.
Hello Kyle, thank you for your beautifully articulated words about both this performance and my "about" page mission statement. Your thoughtful and generous message is very much appreciated! Many best wishes to you.
Hello Sally! I very much loved your interpretation and performance of this Chopin's Etude. Very touching! Sending you tons and tons of positve energies, good vibes and health and prosperity best wishes to both you and your family and loved ones from a cloudy and rainy São Paulo, Brazil!
Hello Rodrigo, thank you for your heartfelt words about this interpretation and performance! I always appreciate your warm messages and kind wishes, and return these to you and your family from a rainy day in Northern California!
This Lovely Piece of music has been in my head for year's but I never had a name for it, now thanks to you and your amazing performance I have it forever.
Hello John, wow, thank you for your meaningful and touching words! You have made such a powerful and beautiful statement. Thank you so very much! All best wishes to you.
Hello musicalintentions / James, yes, this is one of the most beautiful melodies ever written. Chopin said so himself! Which piece of yours uses this quote? I would love to read through the music! I’m sure it is heartfelt. All the best to you and your students.
Hello Santiago, thank you for your thoughtful and enthusiastic words! I really appreciate your description of "kindness and temper on the piano.” This is so very lovely to read. :-) All best wishes to you.
This performance is so beautiful it made my eyes watery and that doesn’t happen often! Thanks for blessing my ears with your heavenly sound and making my day even better than it already was.
Hello Gavul, thank you for your beautiful comment! 🙏 Your words are like poetry and touch me very much. Thank you for your generosity of spirit. You have make my day all the brighter! With best wishes to you. 🎵
Hello Guido, thank you for your beautiful words! I am delighted to hear your responses to this piece and the interpretation. I feel as you do, that this piece is not about sadness, but heartfelt joy! According to the letters from his student, Adolphe Gutmann, Chopin felt this way too! With very best wishes to you.
Can’t wait for these charts to be available. You played it beautifully as usual and this is a great piece for me to play at the intermediate level. It’s amazing because I was looking for this piece in sheet music and was not happy with what I found and then saw your message about these charts being available soon. Perfect timing. YSFA, Jim
Hello Jim, thank you for your wonderful comment! Yes, I think this piece will be perfect for you! I am really looking forward to uploading the chart and companion teaching video soon! Thank you also for your kind words about the performance. :-) With all best wishes to you! YTFA
Hello Alton, oh, what a wonderful thing to say! Chopin deeply loved this piece, and I feel especially close to his spirit when I play it. Thank you for your gracious and perceptive words. :-) All best wishes to you.
@@loving-everyone-equally Hi Alton, that's great that you play 13 of them. When I was in my serious concertizing years and practicing 5 hours a day, I would begin each practice session with either the complete Opus 10 or Opus 25 Etudes, alternating every day. There is nothing that prepares a pianist more than practicing the Chopin Etudes!
Hello Bradley, thank you for your beautiful words! Your description and responses are very meaningful and wonderful to hear! With all best wishes to you.
Hello Jose, THANK YOU! I love the energy and enthusiasm of your comment and emoticons; you have a very generous spirit! You are welcome, ... it is my pleasure! All best wishes to you.
Excellent interpretation of this lovely Chopin tune. I visited Valldemosa once and they had his piano there and a cast of his hand which looked enormous! He wrote a number of pieces there - not sure if this was one of them. Anyway, brilliant playing as usual.
Hello Gary, thank you for your much appreciated words about the performance and for your account about seeing the cast of Chopin's hands! I've seen photos of this cast, but not in person. One cannot but be struck by his beautiful long and slender fingers. :-) Chopin worked on his Preludes Opus 28 during his difficult winter stay at the monastery in Valldemossa. This E Major Etude was written many years before when he was in his early twenties. All best wishes to you.
Hello Stephen, thank you very much for your wonderful words! I really appreciate your generosity and your ongoing support. :-) With all best wishes to you!
With thousands of spectators applauding Fischer's classical style win in the sixth game, Spassky did the same, while offering his hand to the challenger. In order not to be touched by his opponent's gracious behaviour, 'I had to go away' said Fischer to friends afterwards.
Hello Anna, I am so happy to see your comment! Yes, I have already recorded the companion lesson and made a comprehensive chart package for this etude. These will be uploaded in the coming weeks. I think it is wonderful that you are self-teaching, and I hope that the soon-to-be uploaded lesson and chart package will be helpful! With all best wishes to you and with your piano studies. :-)
Hello Joshua, thank you for your kind words! I would also love to make a video of Debussy's Reverie, and hope to play it one day as part of a grouping of some of my favorite Debussy pieces. Best wishes to you.
Bravo! Lovely musical romantic version with lots of rubato and breathing. I like it better than versions of Jan Lisiecki and Murray Perahia on Spotify. I imagine Chopin would prefer this version, than the more ”correct” sterile versions. The sound from the Boesendorefer is very good, can you please lower the noise on the microphone and on the fortissimo it gets a little distorted. Probably get a better microphone and adjust it perfect, or more microphones and mix it. Then you can put it on spotify or other streaming platform. Bravo!
Hello swede 10000, thank you for your lovely words about this performance! Thank you also for your suggestion to lower the noise on the microphone; I will look further into this. Best wishes to you.
Dear Sally. I have to pay you two compliments; the first is that you wear a great dress and it gives you a certain charm. The second: you played this studio OP 10 n 3. with perfect and brilliant sound volumes compared to those I usually listen to and this way suits me. Then even if the title is "tristesse" I sing some parts out loud and they give me a lot of joy. A greeting to you soon.
Hello Spadiu, once again, your words are most wonderful and welcoming! I do appreciate you mentioning the "perfect and brilliant sound volumes." Since the beginning in 2020, all of the performance videos have been recorded with a different recording technique and microphones. I will pass on your complimentary words to the recording engineer (my husband!). He will be delighted to hear your responses. I'm also very happy that the dress augmented the aesthetic. Lastly, I agree that this melody is quite the contrary of "tristesse" / sadness. Best regards and blessings to you.
This is my favorite piece from Chopin . Thanks for sharing your beautiful work.❤
