The Longines has no history?? Longines came out with dual time zone watches years before anybody else including Rolex. Sure it's not a 1:1 reissue of a historical model, but Longines definitely has history.
I find the Longines to be the better value and more interesting watch, although the real value buy, and for those with average size wrists or just wanting more wrist presence, the Mido Ocean Star GMT is what I chose. 200m WR, 80h PR, and a true traveler's GMT. Hard to top that for its very modest price point.
Enjoyed the review. Personally I can’t get over the 5 stars across the dial on the Longines, it looks cheap and gimmicky to me. The Black Bay Pro is a fantastic watch. I have a Rolex GMT Batman and I often find myself passing it up for the Pro. The styling of the watch is perfect as a daily driver.
@@pokpongl But who cares about sales, when it's the PRODUCTION that tells you where the expertise and design quality is concentrated ?? Tudor has the true GMT movement, the Longines is ETA based, if you try one at AD, the hands jerk while setting time, and the date changes slower than the in-house Tudor, common ETA thing
The Longines functions the same as the Tudor- in operation of the GMT setting to the date adjustment- not sure what you mean by the Tudor has the true GMT movement since they operate the same way. I can’t speak to every example but the one I reviewed had it’s date changed over at midnight from one complete rotation of the hour hand. Yes there is very small backlash in the hands when adjusting the hour but as you said it’s a common thing not just among ETAs but many many watches even early Rolex 3185 and a few early 3186 movements exhibited this in the minute hand backlash when adjusted the hour.
Longines is a TRUE GMT... Don't forget, Rolex only became "in-house" because they bought their movement maker, Aegler (who supplied movements to Gruen and Panerai, not just rolex). Furthermore, these "ETA" movements are specifically made for Longines only, and can be considered to be in-house the same way as Rolex say Aegler movements are, as Swatch Group owns ETA.
My Tudor GMT movement jumped one and a half day FORWARD. GARBAGE MOVEMENT straight from the factory. ROLEX REPAIR had to install a REDESIGNED set of parts to fix it. They DID fix MANY afflicted watches THROUGHOUT THE WORLD and had to stop production to incorporate the new movement design into the future products. They fixed mine. I sold it. Bought this Longines in Green bezel, leather on the fly micro adjustable deployant band. WONDERFULLY comfortable, wears smaller the the TUDOR GMT, and... IT ACTUALLY IS RELIABLE! What a concept for a multi-thousand dollar watch to be RELIABLE! Imagine that!

A few commenters in the discussion section here don't know this and have wrongfully criticized the watch, not knowing that it's actually a true traveler GMT movement, just like the Tudor. They discuss it in detail on their Zulu Time website. It's a nice review, otherwise. 👍
Thanks for bringing this up Rick. A detail I missed in production but had thought I covered it in my head. The Longines does indeed have an adjustable GMT hand that is indicative of a travellers GMT. It functions very much the same to the Tudor albeit with a rotatable bezel for tracking an additional time zone
Two stunning watches, but I find the Longines amazingly beautiful. It shows great quality and original design. Considering the materials used and the comparable movements, the price difference seems to be in favor of the Longines.
I like the Longines better too! For me personally, I think having three snowflake hands on the Tudor is just too much... I think it could be a nicer design if they had just made the second hand tip round like the indices. Or, they could've borrowed the orange pointer GMT hand from the Rolex Explorer 2 and left the other two snowflake hands as they are, but that would've opened a can of worms with a comparison to the Rolex... but it still would've looked better (imho). The Tudor is still a beautiful watch and I really like the toolish look of it, but for some reason the three snowflake hands makes it too busy for my eyes. I think the Longines is gorgeous and a refreshingly new take on a GMT watch. But on the other hand, if resale value is a concern, I'm sure the Tudor would win all day long.
I really struggled on which one to purchase. Both watches are really good, but went with the BB Pro in the end. The AD had it in the configuration (band) I wanted. So far the thickness nor weight have been an issue on my 7.5 in wrist.
@@david12990 you can’t go wrong with either. It’s a great watch. If the longines had a similar clasp than the Tudor it would be an easier choice for me. I’ve tried on the Zulu time but haven’t been able to try on the pro so I’m still undecided.
Tudor has better bracelet, clasp, AND a true GMT movement (can't believe this video doesn't make a bigger point of this fact regarding the movement--this is a HUGE difference here!) Both are great for sure, but the added refinements of the Tudor are very real.
I do think there is a $1,200 difference in quality.... but it is the Longines Zulu that should be $1,200 MORE expensive than the Black Bay. What a phenomenal watch from a way-under-appreciated manufacture.
Longines completely killed it with the Zulu Time. Love the ceramic bezel vs steel bezel lib with blue sunburst dial vs flat black on Tudor. 3 color options for Longines and 1 for Tudor. Love how the leather bands are micro adjustable, who has that at this piece point?!? Nobody but Longines. It’s twice the total watch for the money.
I tried a BB58 recently and it felt cheap to me, I’m probably spoilt with my Seamaster and obviously a big price difference but I was disappointed with the Tudor
That dial on the Longines looks extremely 3D to me, I think it's because their movement is very flat and that allows them a lot of room to apply those raised numerals and logos/stars. It's beautiful, it catches the light from all sorts of directions, I saw it in person recently and I must admit it's hard to get it out of my mind.
The Zulu time is simply a nicer looking watch in my eyes. I really hate Tudor hands, and even discounting the hands I just think the Zulu simply looks better and is more versatile.
I picked up the Pro. I got it unworn on Belez for 3500 in 2023. It’s come down in 2024. It’s a beautiful watch I’ll changed the strap with a RUBBERB. It’s lighter with the strap.
2:20 no history for the Zulu Time? It hurts to see such flawed research in an otherwise good video. As watchilove put it: "Its origins and its name come from the first Longines dual-time zone wristwatch manufactured in 1925, which featured the Zulu flag on its dial." Yes, the looks are reworked, but theres your history - easily almost a 100 yrs for this one, and it also easily predates the Tudor or it's Rolex reference. Also, sorry, but what is going on here that you mention the "travellers GMT" functionality for the Tudor but you don't say that Longines does exactly the same? Dean I appreciate your candid comment as always- you are right you can’t go wrong with either. The Longines and perhaps a manual wind Grand Seiko (think predecessor to the SBGW231) would make a killer collection I think
I just can't get over the UGLY hands on the Tudor watches. I can't look past it no matter how good the quality is. It's like the hour and second hands have pimples on them. They ruin the whole watch for me.
Fortunately I am in a market where I was able to try on both a BB GMT and the Zulu Time (not the BB Pro, so not a perfect comparison). I had expected to get the Tudor, but the side slabs didn't sit well on my wrist. I ended up leaving with the the Longines. I'd take either in a heartbeat though.
This guy doesnt know the GMT hand on the Longines is adjustable, and doesnt even know the history of Longines but yet hes making a comparison video? Yikes .. hooe no one takes this guy seriously
Both great but I would go with Tudor. For me it looks better and is wear it and forget about it. It will last longer and take more of a beating while still looking good as it ages and comes to life with every Nick and cranny.
Love both of these watches. The BB Pro may find its way into my collection at some point but it really is just an homage to my favorite piece - my 16550 Rolex Explorer II (Alpine/Cream dial). I have a black dial Submariner 168000 and never felt the pull to add a black dial Ex II to the box… though for less than half the price, I could add the Tudor. I already have my eye on the Pepsi BB GMT. What a stunning bezel. Now… the Longines. What a home run. Best new piece for 2022 imho. Saw the giant electronic ads in the Oculus in NYC on my way from the Davidoff lounge to the 1 train and fell in love at first sight. Walked right into the Longines shop and got one of the first green bezel/leather strap “livery” that had hit the store. Could not be happier with that watch. I know $3K is a bunch of money but, in the watch world, that piece is an absolute bargain. The finish on that watch has vaulted Longines into the arena with the biggest names. Next to everything else in my case, that is the one people ask about the most. Well done and huge props to Matthias Breschan, Giuseppe Miccio, and the rest of the artisans at Longines.
Beautiful video! Besides the clasp, the Longines looks more expensive and prettier. I also wish it was a 40mm. By the way, in saying “Longines”, the S is silent. So it’s just “lawn-geen”.
Wish Longines would lose those distracting "stars" on the dial. Reminds me of an Amazon review, with the Longines Zulu arrogantly giving itself five stars.
The Longines has significantly more history than the Tudor in the gmt/Zulu question. Longines were the 1st watchmaker to produce a dual timezone in 1908 for the Ottoman empire in a pocket watch, and in a wristwatch format in the 1920's withe the zulu time wrist watch before rolex was a thing.
Amazing video as always, the Pro is a v weird piece for me, I dogged it as lazy and generic till I saw it in the metal, the finishing on the bezel and the lume plots are incredible and I love it to bits, so much so I’ve shifted out most of my other gada watches
I am glad you found it to be an objectively excellent piece for you in every measure! It’s all about judging the watch for what it is first hand I think that is so valuable. Enjoy it in good health David!
If you asked a non watch person I’d bet they would think the Tudor looked like a 500$ watch and the longines like a 5k$ watch. But really, the longines is so much nicer looking. Just a beauty.
The price difference is obvious in that the Longines looks $1200 more than the Tudor. The finish of the Tudor hands have a lot of imperfection but is invisible to Tudor die hards. Tudor pedigree relies too much on Rolex so I’ve yet to see a review where Rolex is not invoked. Objectively, Longines is the better watch; but due to social contagion, I have a couple of Tudors 😃. Definitely add a couple of Longines to my collection.
Yeah Longines makes better watches just in general than modern Tudors. Maybe not the hydrconquest or the conquest but there literally 1/3rd of the price of most Tudors and a Tudor isn't twice the watch a Hydrconquest is. Tudor makes great watches but omega makes better watches for not that much more and Longines makes watches equal or higher in quality for less. Although I have to say that the Tudor BB ceramic and the pelly are fantastic and BB chrono and heritage Chrono. Tudor needs to drop a Tudor submariner and a mini sub with basic sw200 or 2824s for 2000 dollars imo.
I just got the Zulu in blue - love it. If your wrist is 7 or up it’s a great fit, slim for a GMT and very comfortable weight. It’s my one and done now. This Tudor has a cool dial but too chunky for its size. I used to own the BB GMT, the Zulu is a better watch.
Longines made the first dual-time watch, AND the first GMT movement watch. The "Zulu Time" was the first gmt ever, and that's why they named this release "Zulu Time."
I picked up the Zulu Time today, that same green bezel model. It is beautiful. A note on size commentary in RUclips watch videos… I have 7.5 inch wrists so 42mm and 50mm lug to lug is perfect fit for me. Not too big at all. Even though they are similar in thickness, the Zulu distributed it in a way that it’s less blocky and seems thinner. But some people might like a blocky look.
Thanks for the review! I was all in on the Pro, but the Longines is a very attractive watch. I'm attracted to vintage-style watches and the Longines exudes that esthetic to me. Plus it's accessible...
I own an Explorer II and a Pepsi GMT II ... What the Ex2 offers that the GMT2 does not is inconspicuousness. People -- including those whom you might not want to -- notice a red/blue-bezel watch on a steel bracelet ... nobody notices the Ex2, which is a benefit in certain contexts. (Generally, though, better to simply not-go places where you can't comfortably/safely wear whatever watch you want.)
And the ending for a Tudor would and will always be - if you want a Rolex and cant afford it.... go for its look alike, the Tudor. 8n my opinion, Tudor is far from Longines in terms of value, detail and finishing.
BB Pro all day. That said, the Zulu Time is amazing and will hopefully bring more people to the brand. Also, you can buy the Zulu time, whereas the BB Pro you get to wait on a list, possibly never getting a call.
I don't think that is the case. BB Pro is available at all the ADs in Europe. On the other hand, the anthracite dial of Zulu Time requires waiting list in some countries.
Love the looks of the Black Bay Pro but hate that 15mm thickness. If that thickness came down to 13.5mm, I would buy it in a heartbeat. Come on Tudor, why so thick?
Great Video, I bought my Longines Spirit Zulu Time GMT Blue on black on Dec 16 2022 and it is amazing in all aspects. Mine is perfect for my wrist and I actually can't fault it. It looks so elegant & classy and the box is absolutely amazing!!!
The best detailed review I have seen, that I can remember anyway. Excellent work, the longines is very Desirable watch but that pro just edges it for me. But then there's the price
Just be glad that it's not a *real* riveted bracelet ... Vintage Rolex / Tudor have their charms ... but the modern watches -- esp the bracelets -- are a bazillion times better than their older counterparts'.
Even for the same money, I prefer the Longines Zulu time. Granted, I don’t like the Tudor GMT Pro’s look: I prefer the other Black Bay GMT, with the colored bezel. That would be a tougher decision.
It's not even close lol. People just buy Tudor because it says Tudor and in their mind it's basically a Rolex. Longines is 1100 bucks cheaper. Actually purchasable. More well proportioned in terms of thickness Vs l2l length and case diameter. The movement is 0.5 Herz slower but that just equals a lower service frequency and better accuracy. It has a ceramic bezel Vs the super easily scratched steel one on the BB pro. If I'm not wrong it also has anti reflective coating which the Tudor does not have so it's more legible.
Well, my vote goes to BB pro. Purely due to my own personal limitation and the technical side. I cannot wear more than 40mm diameter watches. I have a small wrist. 40mm is already at the max. Prefer a 200m water-resistant watch. Prefer a In-House movement or something new. So not a modified ETA movement. I tried both. The zulu time is just to big. Lug to lug is wide. I don't understand why put a 3hz movement in it?. Why a 42mm case but not with a 200m water-resistant. Very unfortunate.
Longines warranty is 5 years too… but if you buy the Longines in “Watches of Switzerland” they give 3 more years! that’s happened with me when I see 2 warranty cards, I called and they told me that…

Longines looks better and classier but a little too big for me.
Tudor is all rounder.
i pick longines.
I'll keep my GS SBGM245 over these two, but excellent comparo!
That’s a great watch you have! Wouldn’t fault you for that call Thanks for watching 😃
Thank you! Learning every day 😃
2:15 Zulu time does not have history? bruhhhhh... do you even know why the name "Zulu" is even there? hahahaha
Longines 100%
If you asked a non watch person I’d bet they would think the Tudor looked like a 500$ watch and the longines like a 5k$ watch. But really, the longines is so much nicer looking. Just a beauty.
But ... why would you ask a non-watch person? They think we're weirdo boomers for wearing a watch, full stop ...
Well said. There is a spot in every collection for both a Tudor and a Longines I think! Thank you for watching and commenting
Those 2 watches together looks really good. It’s like taking a picture of a submariner and a speedmaster. They just fit well in 1 picture.
Ignorance runs amok in this silly video. Longines is one of the originals.
At first glance the longines looks higher quality. That's my reaction after two seconds.
The longines is so beautiful. I would own this over the Tudor anyday of the week personally.
If the Longines was smaller, I'd have preferred it. Instead, I bought a Black Bay Pro. Thanks for the video!
I agree, but Longines will probably bring out smaller versions just as they did with the Spirit. Patience can be a virtue!
i really want the green and gilt longines. ive never wanted a longines before. i love my bb58, but the lro doesnt do it for me
Thanks for the review! I was all in on the Pro, but the Longines is a very attractive watch. I'm attracted to vintage-style watches and the Longines exudes that esthetic to me. Plus it's accessible...
It’s accessible and can be had at a discount too, which is just the right thing to ask for in a watch that looks great 👍
Both are good and they do functionthe same. But Tudor is Tudor at the end.
No doubt that Tudor has its brand power and behind a powerful sibling to its advantage. Thanks for watching!
Tudor is an overrated in-house homage brand. Longines is a much more original brand.
Great video -- but if you're going to run a channel on watches, you better learn how to pronounce Longines properly (hint: the "s" is silent).
I feel that the Longines is better. I have the blue one and it's awesome. That said, I've only tried the Tudor on.
The Tudor looks boring in comparison.
Excellent comparison and recommendations. I like how legible the Zuzutime is but I love the simplicity of the BBP!
Longines now has a 39MM version of it. It clearly is a better watch, especially for the money.
And the ending for a Tudor would and will always be - if you want a Rolex and cant afford it.... go for its look alike, the Tudor.
8n my opinion, Tudor is far from Longines in terms of value, detail and finishing.
For the price. The grand seiko quartz gmt 's
Longines have 39mm version. You don't know that?! If you want to compare do with the 39mm version Longines. 🤦🤦🤦🤦
Love the looks of the Black Bay Pro but hate that 15mm thickness. If that thickness came down to 13.5mm, I would buy it in a heartbeat. Come on Tudor, why so thick?
Just pick up longines Zulu and love it with no taxes from upper Canada mall
Great Video, I bought my Longines Spirit Zulu Time GMT Blue on black on Dec 16 2022 and it is amazing in all aspects. Mine is perfect for my wrist and I actually can't fault it. It looks so elegant & classy and the box is absolutely amazing!!!
Great video, thanks for sharing.
Can you suggest a good Longines retailer in the GTA ?? ( or Canadian on line seller for this ).Thanks
T-fit is incredible ... can't wait until those patents expire and I can have it on everything.
Longines blows tudor out the water, but tudor very good.
Longines created a GMT watch in the 1920’s…30 years before Rolex!
Will you be doing a review of the new Longines Zulu Time 39?
The best detailed review I have seen, that I can remember anyway. Excellent work, the longines is very
Desirable watch but that pro just edges it for me. But then there's the price
This Longines Spirit Zulu GMT is the most beautiful GMT of all.
This is a helpful video. Longines just released a 39mm Zulu Time!
Check out the Jack Mason a true GMT. I love my Zulu Time on leather.
Longines!!
I may have missed it, but one should mention is the on the fly adjustment system when you get the leather strap.
Tudor needs to learn to make watches 15 mm thick movement for GMT . 😂
I need another watch like a hole in the head, but that Longines sure is nice. . .
Just be glad that it's not a *real* riveted bracelet ... Vintage Rolex / Tudor have their charms ... but the modern watches -- esp the bracelets -- are a bazillion times better than their older counterparts'.
'Better' in objective terms ... but not necessarily in gestalt ... I own / wear both ... and they scratch very diff itches, so to say.
Now we have a 39mm Zulu Time, perfect watch with a perfect price tag
Even for the same money, I prefer the Longines Zulu time. Granted, I don’t like the Tudor GMT Pro’s look: I prefer the other Black Bay GMT, with the colored bezel. That would be a tougher decision.
Tudor is a Rolex homage watch company...
Pretty sure Longines has a much stronger history and heritage than Tudor
Unfortunantely I couldn't wear the longines..
The Black bay pro is an unbalanced brick on your wrist
Please pronounce Longines correctly. The S is silent.
Only seen the intro and already know I’ll love this video!
Hahah evidently the intro is where I have the most fun in making these videos! Thanks so much my friend
The Longines all the way.
Thanks for the comparison, it's the longines for me..
No denying that it’s a good looking watch thanks for watching!
The Zulu is a much better looking watch
too much reflection on the watches in your video
Let’s assume the watches are equal, is the Longines warranty still 2 years? I know the Tudor is 5 years. That is a huge difference.
Longines warranty is now 5 years. “Longines extends the warranty to five years on all models using the antimagnetic silicon balance-spring”
5 years...Also, lower beat rate = longer service intervals, generally speaking.
Longines warranty is 5 years too… but if you buy the Longines in “Watches of Switzerland” they give 3 more years! that’s happened with me when I see 2 warranty cards, I called and they told me that…
Datewheel issues 😕
The longines is way more beautiful
My experience with NKUWAN was fantastic. The watch arrived quickly and was exactly as described.
