About The Daily Show:
Trevor Noah and The World's Fakest News Team tackle the biggest stories in news, politics and pop culture.
The Daily Show with Trevor Noah airs weeknights at 11/10c on Comedy Central.
But just imagine how angry Hitler would be about a Jewish man playing him and him being portrayed as he is in the movie.
Marla Ott a Polynesian Jewish man, at that
The extra stab.. He is Māori too!
Look up the 28 Māori Battalion and the Nazi view of the Māori soldiers 😁
And it's a comedy making fun of him and his movement.
That's why hitler is not around anymore!! Or is he? 🤔
You know that meme of a clip of Hitler angrily reacting to ____ from like a decade ago? Fox Searchlight Pictures actually did that for Jojo Rabbit, and it's freaking amazing.
Technically, Waititi did not played Hitler, he played an innocent but indoctrinated Hitler's youth idea of an imaginary Hitler.
nice.. i think you mean indoctrinated german youth?
@@MrTrollbaby No its Hitler youth. That's how it was called.
In his last scene in the movie, he played just “hitler” lmao. I loved how that represented jojo moving on and removing that side of him from his personality.
A dude playing a dude imagined by a little dude
"Isn't it weird that in 2019, someone still has to make a movie trying to explain to people not to be a Nazi?"
Ouch, that really struck a chord in the heart.
Truer words have never been spoken.
History repeats itself bc man never learns.
Because people dont get involved with the government cause they're busy watching you tube.
It didnt struck any chord. The world will continue to not gaf and be full of assholes and move on. Those assholes also probably just think Taika is a snowflake. Its impossible to live in this world now
He is funny but also brilliant and deep
really? go listen to "Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms" and repeat that. if you can.
Trever Noah is such a pro, he sticks with the intended topic and never embarrasses or put others on the spot which he could have easily done. There isn't anyone like him in this business in today's world IMO.
Good interviewer. Terrible comedian
His skin color is so perfect that he's the only person that can rock so much gray in an outfit.
Génesis León it’s the māori way 😌
Kia ora to that 💯
this was legit the best interview i've seen with Taika. The audience was eating up his humour, Trevor knew exactly what to say. And 2 extremely funny comedians in 1 room? Absolute perfection
He's like your friend's funny dad that you lowkey have a bit of a crush on.
High key crush
And he would be flattered to hear that. I’m pretty sure Taika Waititi is a dad.
Mike
I was just thinking that as I was watching this. Like this man is really handsome :)
Which one?
Taika's fashion sense exceeds imagination lol. Dude matches his dress with his hair 😂
Exactly
this outfit is fire tho
In luv
I wonder how many times Taika had answer the question "How do you pitch this film" lol
I feel like that's in every interview I've seen
Apparently the writers at the Daily Show did not even bother to watch his appearance on Kimmel 8 days earlier.
That and "HOW Is like to give directions on your hitlers outfit" EVERY.FUCKING.INTERVIEW
interviewers should do their homework to avoid repeating the same questions
Every
Single
Time
Now, as I rewatching those interviews, I can understand his face expression after heating question #1 ))
'I've never really seen war stories from the kid's point of view'
I have. *has flashbacks of reading The Boy in Striped Pajamas, and being absolutely devastated*
Also Pan's Labrynth
@@oliversangster2911 Also Empire of the Sun
And The Book Thief to a degree
Grave of the Fireflies.
Die Blechtrommel / The Tin Drum from 1979
Been watching a lot taika's interview and this is really the best one. Trevor is really fantastic, he always makes his guests comfortable and he really listen + engage well with them.
"And that makes it okay!" I can't stop watching it. The guy has amazing mannerisms.
"Ive never seen a movie with the backdrop of conflict or wars from a child's point of view"
Check out 'Grave of the Fireflies'. Fantastic movie with that exact premise.
Or "The Boy in Striped Pajamas"; but it is gut-wrenching, especially the ending...
To be fair, he says that 'he's never seen one.'
He wasn't saying that it hadn't happened.
Empire of the Sun, 1987
Grave of the Fireflies had me bawling in the first 5 minutes, it is a fantasticly tragic movie
Grave of the Fireflies is the best movie I never want to watch again. Absolutely heart wrenching.
I loved him in What We Do In The Shadows.
He made that movie, too! :D
So love that movie.
"Peter, waiky waiky" 🤣
@akshay Viswambharan he also directed thor ragnorok
@@mcook6005 there is also a tv series
Taika Waititi is a genius and he'll go down in cinema history as such, the way he tackles issues and still can make you laugh before crying is just perfection.
"Isn't it awkward being Jewish and playing Hitler?"
Mel Brook has been doing it for decades.
Valli Weidemann The 3 Stooges did it, too! 😃
Exactly, but he’s a white Jew. Taika is Māori. He is the double whammy 🙃
Valli Weidemann Hogan’s hero’s too
Did anyone ask, how they felt about it?
@@jillmorrow7422 they asked Mel Brooks about it.
(His name is spelled wrong in the video title)
Edit: they fixed it! I am now obsolete
In the description as well.
?? Did they fix it? Because its spelled correctly now.
@@wraithe85 YUP!!!
We still love you
I'm sure some people think you're relevant.
Two of my favorite people in one interview!
“What We Do In The Shadows” is by far one my favorite movies!!
Taaika you are so talented.
Felicia Kelley the series isn’t bad either. Can’t wait for its return next season.
Petition for Taika Waititi to co-direct Trevor's Born a Crime movie.

😳😎💯🔥
Oh fuck off, stop begging for likes
I'll gladly pay to watch that movie
Ommigaawd!!!! This is movie I'd lovw to watch
Can we make a movie that teaches people not to be an asshole to each other? We can call it "Bob Ross, Mr. Rodgers, Jim Henson Experience"
PLEASE COULD WE!
Why not a David duke reboot directed by Jordan Peele
I want a PBS shared universe.
Thor 3 was about don't kill so many people. I feel like killing people you don't know is an asshole thing to do
Like this?

So finally an interview about the Jojo Battle Tendencies spinoff
STROHEIM.
Kaaaaaars!!!!
I secretly think this kid is Stroheim's son
Trever Noah is the best interviewer in today's world...
Yes he is, Ali Plumb of BBC One is the best.
Frañco G Sean from Hot Ones is right up there too!
Anthony Parsons he’s not. He’s very rigid
Wrong. Sean Evans is 👌🏼
If he was a good interviewer he wouldn't have asked Hillary the pre-approved softball questions. He would have gone into her instead of covering for her. Trevor is a shill
trevor noah is hands down one if the best interviewers out there!!! love them both and love this movie
It sounds like Jojo the rabbit has a bizarre adventure ahead of him
This is obscured humour comment

Wait a minute ...
Is this a Jojo reference?
I've never seen that director on camera before (knowingly) but I would absolutely work for this guy. He seems to get the absurdity of the role without actually giving up his artistic license.
Man, Taika's been on fire these last few years! 🔥
This is the difference between late night TV hosts and Sean Evans from Hot Ones. Ive seen Taika do this interview with kimmel and fallon and they ask the same questions... Taike should do hot ones just so we can get awesome questions from Sean
I wanted to hear the rest of the story about his mom coming on set!
He looks like robert downey jr when he played chaplin
I was also looking at him thinking he reminded me of someone, and couldn't pin the tail on the donkey. You nailed it....he does look a lot like Downey.
fastnbulbouss not really
He doesn’t look like a white guy. He very much so looks Maori
Hillel Echohawk well since he plays hitler i’d venture to say he could pass for one
Mikey well I guess he does look a little bit like him
Luv from NZ! Love Taika Waititi.
I remember seeing the preview and thinking “I can’t wait for this film” I fell in love with him and Jamaine Clement’s style immediately. Thor was the best Marvel movie to date. And this one will be awesome. We need more filmmakers like this and films with messages like this.
Also - the Warriors should be rereleased. The most multicultural gang film of all times. Latinos and Caucasians in the Asian gang, Asians, African Americans and Caucasians in the Latino gang. If the gangs could just get along together it’d be fine! And of course they eventually do. We need more films like *that* right now.
NZ stand up 🇳🇿🇳🇿
Nazis stand up? You should probably write nz out... Especially here...
@@mortuos557 No true Kiwi who read that would have thought he meant 'Nazi'. Don't be daft, mate.
@@picklejho69 true, but that's a nationalist comment so I had to 😜
sit back down bitchboy
Chur 😎👍
Taika finally getting the recognition he deserves is what I’m here for
this guy reminds me of me, im 49 and still live like a kid, swinging around on chairs lol
They wrote his name differently in the thumbnail and the picture. The thumbnail says “Taiki” and the picture says “Taika”
Yohan Hamess // You’re right, they misspelled it in the title.
“Taika” is the correct spelling.
They fixed 👌
He is delightful. I was torn about this movie when I first heard about it, but his message is so genuine that I'll definitely go see it now.
It is very good.. so much heart.. .in it.. Jojo is so captivating
"Okay guys- here's the pitch.
It's 'Moon Boy,' but he's a Hitler Youth and his imaginary friend is Hitler.
Where are you going?"
ahh yes, soup. the thinking man's tea
"he's a Hitler Youth" - that is GRAMMATICALLY just soooow so so so wrong. "he's in the Hitleryouth" would be correct.
Dichtsau He’s part of the Hitler Youth Movement.
They were called Hitler Youth.
So shush.
It reminded me a little of Moone Boy, too! Great show and great film, glad to see fans of both on here :)
I hear him, but I just keep seeing Korg from Thor Ragnarok.
Yup. He even directed it. So this is a 360 degree turn and yet still makes a great film out of it. Scorsese and Coppola should really reconsider their words. Just because he directed a Marvel movie doesn't mean his filmmaking skills are diminished. He really is a good filmmaker.
You really need glasses
Trevor always being a good and informed interviewer
Shame Trevor didn't ask him about his hilarious "Wellington Paranormal" and "What We Do in the Shadows" TV shows.
He had 5 minutes, to be fair.
And Wellington Paranormal isn't on TV in the US right?

You're on the daily show!!!! Cracked it cuz!!!
3:49 My two brain cells at one in the morning
U suck
The man is a marvel! (No pun intended though 😅) My only wish is to have an opportunity to talk to him one day
He's so attractive I can't even...
His first name is spelt Taika. not Taiki. Please correct.
I second that!
They fixed it
They get along so well, Taika Waititi should be a correspondent! (or take over the show if Trevor ever leaves)
Taika needs to direct "Born a Crime". They are so funny together.
David K Paramount Players hired Liesl Tommy
These two have GREAT CHEMISTRY. Would love to watch them discuss other topics on like a podcast or something.
This episode was a bizarre adventure
It’s like if Inglorious Bastards and Moonrise Kingdom had a baby :D
omg, I said the exact same thing after watching the movie!!
I just like the fact that both Trevor and Taika halfway through the interview begin speaking with exaggerated Italian American accents, mocking the films of Scorcesse and Coppola who both said Marvel movies as both Trevor and Taika are in the MCU.
"don't be racist "! But be racist for licking comic fanatics'.. !? YES!
I highly doubt that was the intention...
You are reading way too much into this.
Taika on The Daily Show!? Yeeeeaaaaaah buddy
Someone commented on one of the interviews, that Trevor Noah is really good interviewing people...now I cannot not notice that!
If you have read Trevor's book there are some interesting parallels in his own life. He also talks a lot about being conditioned to the realities of Apartheid in his childhood. He really experienced directly himself all through his life how people got conditioned to think in a particular way, even himself and how hard that was to break out of.
There's a Nazi vampire joke in there somewhere, but I don't know if everyone's watch that movie🤔
Well everyone should watch that F.M. Vampire as he had to going through a lot of people for that title. Unless your meaning someone else.
Ikr he also did one for Thor: Ragnarok when Korg and Thor were in the armor scene
Loved and recommend this movie. The irony of his comment about child conditioning, "don't listen to your parents listen to us" is totally spot on. The education, entertainment and political systems use this as their mantra.
Trevor is a perfect guy to interview Taika! So glad this exists
Loved "what we do in the shadows"
I watched this film opening weekend in Los Angeles and fell in love with it. It's official my favorite film of the year next to Parasite. Scarlett Johansson deserves a best supporting actress nomination.
Somewhere I imagine Mel Brooks being quiet and feeling so proud.
Trevor Noah and Taika Waititi in one video? that's it, October 24 is now my new birthday!
So far all of his roles and movies he directing are classics to me
Saw the movie a week ago. A pice of art. Deserved all the nominations and more oscars. Great movie!
I'm obsessed with Taika Waititi
2:56 Charlie Chaplin was Jewish and he played Hitler caricature.
I love Charlie Chaplin, The Dictator was great, never knew Charlie was Jewish.
@@NellieKAdaba Charlie Chaplin was not Jewish. It was a rumor at the time, in order to discredit him and ban his films, due to his subversion of the upper class, but there was no truth to it.
@@sorabji1 Thanks
@Hawk Who Knows All his mother is Jewish. That makes him a Jew.
Saw the film- surprisingly funny, even if the satire never feels too deep or biting
I was bawling my eyes out by the end. I found it so unexpectedly emotional
It is soo emotional.. and It is the best of the year... 😭👍🏽👍🏽💓
His films (and acting) are just...just so much the best. So much. I love this dude.
Just saw it today. Loved it. You need to pay attention to the little details.
Trevor Noah and Taika together 🔥 I'm sure I've dreamed this
Congratulations on the Oscar Taika!
The pitching the movie question he has gotten alot , but the legend he is ...he just answers it for the 100th time with 110%
Ah shit the movie is out already? Damn I gotta see this.
Wide release is November 1st
Taika is an absolute ham
So difficult for him to take things seriously
One of my grandparents was in the hitler youth, they sent him to berlin and he got captured in the forest with a french man by russians, so he was sent into work camp in poland for 3 years. I listened to what he told me and it sounds and still reverberates horrificly. Around ten thousand prisoners of war marching from Berlin to Poland, sided by horsemen with wips and what have you, seeing all kinds of terrible views on the side of the road, not even mentioning the abuse faced in the camp. He had 15 brothers, when he was young. So I can feel with what we call the middle east. How does one say it in English ... "Wehret den Anfängen.", beware the beginnngs?
@2:41 David Cohen Waititi, east coast born & raised kiwi. Scarlet is Jewish by way of her Mum, and Natalie Portman (Thor: Ragnarok) is 1/2 Israeli...My fav kid in the film is the precious chubby tyke - stole my heart.
@4:35, you've got to watch his 'BOY'.
Two such handsome, intelligent men.

People do not give this man enough praise for Ragnarok. Everything from the trailer to the end credits where brilliant.
Marvel movies in general suck ass, but this movie was a masterpiece.
Can we get a spin-off Korg movie please?
This guy is effortlessly likeable. He's restoring nuance to entertainment on behalf of the anxious, ham fisted and clueless.
Thank you Trevor for a good interview. Do you give workshops, Jimmy Kimmel was asking for some.
"Ive never seen a movie with the backdrop of conflict or wars from a child's point of view"
I love you Taika, but my dude, there are dozens and dozens of war film from the POV of children
Guido Anselmi so what?
There are many movies that you've never seen. Yet they do exist. :-)
...and I doubt that there are more than 23 war movies from the sole POV of children. But I'm looking forward to a list here from you, and apologize. ;-)
