Being nearly 8 years in the making, this remix is one of the toughest projects I worked on so far.
Many times I thought it might never see the light of day, but finally it's done., albeit not on winter time .
I seriously don't know why MM7 and MM8 get so much hate.
To be honest the poor english dub didn't help, the japanese one is much better. But I loved how the game developers tried to tie in the FMV technology to the basic gameplay formula with updated cartoonish graphics. I remember buying this game in winter of 1998 a couple of months before I discovered Megaman X4 in the store shelves to my surprise, thinking Megaman games didn't get made anymore. No it's not the best in the series (my personal favorite is still MM7 on SNES), but it has good levels and
I like the 'dark energy' story for once, it's not about Wily trying to desperately hide the fact that he is the mastermind behind the happenings in the world.
Frostman has one of the best themes in the game!
I always liked the ice stages in Megaman games. This one was pretty notorious for it's snowboard parts, many peaple hated it, I find them to be a welcome change of pace .The Wily stage snowboard parts are tougher though.
I really tried to nail the ice sound and as you can hear it has a very prominent FM Bass sound which I put together with the real Bass

a friend of mine hates this level for that section. the music is great but he hates 8's high difficulty. he's beaten a few games on hard though. legends 2 and x8

I remember my entire university life and why I decided to focus on programming, many of us marveled at this type of music, I hope that more people can enjoy this type of musical work.
Still my favorite Mega Man cover. And I've listened to tens of thousands of Mega Man covers by now.
My next 5 favorite covers are also probably Metalltool covers.

this is a lot of fun. i love how your remixes arent just straight recording the tunes with a guitsr but progress with your own soloes and parts. i cant imagine working on something for 8 years but thank you for your hard work! keep em comin!
Let's say it was a on and off project. Workin on this in between other projects. I used to work on one project at the time, but my workrate is much faster when I have multiple projects open, so I can choose which one to work on, depending on my mood or my idea flow... This one was difficult, I guess I almost threw it away.

Metalltool Speaking of remixes, if you ever remix the intro stage again, keep the intro as similar as possible to the original remix. I always come back to hear the intro. its so damn good.
DoUbLeH9 Don't worry, I meant reremixing in the sense of leveling the tracks better and equalizing. I probably wouldn't change the composition in itself anymore.

I've been coming back to this for years now. My favorite bit is the guitar at 0:33-0:47, the nuance and the volume is just right to barely hear it straining against the main melody. Masterful.

It's already been voiced in the comments but I gotta say you are incredibly talented. You managed to maintain all the 90's Japan goodness but it felt more updated and polished. You even managed to put your own spin on it which is bold considering the territory. Really nice work man, keep it up! BTW I subscribed after watching only two of your video ^.^

I've got to say I really dig you're MM8 remixes, the best ones out there! I definitely agree with your points on the game as well, it seems the updated art style and soundtrack went under-appreciated because of the game difficulty.
